Placencia, Belize

Up early with chauffeur Sheldon driving us to Placencia. Early meaning leaving at 9 am. Placencia (plah-sen-sia) is a very tourist catered beach vibe town, like Banff in Belize.

We arrived around 10:30 and after finding a spot to park we started with a big brunch at Wendy's for fajitas then began our walking exploration of the town.

Finally we found a large sandy beach!! Now to find my selfie stick, a gift years ago from Sharon.

S finally was able to swim in calm blue water.

And he was most pleased.

Then our beach stroll was underway.

Our walk had me hearing a coughing sound in the water which was dolphins!! Before getting in the truck to drive we had to try the highly recommended Tutti Frutti gelato.

S spotted this iguana crossing in front of us.

Check out this old beer delivery truck.

A few beverage stops on route back including a 2 for 1 margarita stop at the Green Parrot beach houses. It looks like a lovely place to stay with the best of both blue seas, sandy beach and less tourists.

Mayan Sky tours was our last stop of the day. Once you pay $10 USD per person you can drive thru citrus groves almost right up to the water fall (actually we could have all the way). There is a restaurant right there to which we enjoyed a cold drink and chicken wings. S of course swam here too.

watch his coffin jump sequence

Further down there is a smaller falls that S had to get under, of course.

On the way out S attempted to find the tubing and zip line areas but it was deep into the forest so eventually we turned around as the place closes at 5 and it was almost that. Back at the house everyone showered before we set out for yet more food.

Drumming was happening at Driftwood we listened for a bit then went to Luba Laruga for traditional home cooked Garifuna dish. A Scottish fellow at green parrots said to try snook fish 🐠. Sure enough they had some and we all ordered it, the girls fried in a batter and the boys grilled. We had green salad and veggies as our sides and the boys rice and veggies. VERY good, highly recommended.

I took this photo the next day but this is the place

and this is a snook fish!!

and it cooked. And below our waiter.. Cooper's cousin. His patience got him a few fish treats.

After a long hot day it was time to head back to the room and relax before 9.

Notes
You can drive to water fall if parking lot empty. Take your suit swim
Truck rental from Clancy was $75 USD regular $100 but got the friends of Donna discount. Gas is 9.92/gallon BZD aka $5/USD
