US Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all our USA family and friends. I was awake far to early with time to peruse the net for a bit before the prince awoke and we had our usual coffee & fruit and today I toasted a croissant with tuna/tomatoes/spinach for his highness.

just a few recyclables to donate

this bird wakes me up daily at 7... grrrr

passing my favorite street corner yet again

Snacks and drinks were loaded up and we were off of more beach adventures at 10. Beach # 1 was A’opio beach, right near the marina we left from on our manta ray tour. It was a short hike to a nice sheltered beach good for families with little ones. There were lots of smaller green sea turtles to be seen. S had his nap while I sourced out a few in the water to snap a pic of two then watch the tourists.

some turtles have carved "brands" in their shell I am guessing for research

Then we were off again to find Pine Tree beach, according to the webpage there is a 4X4 needed area and sure enough we found it. What a lovely beach it was, this one not for swimming but there were some tide pools that were nice. The 4X4 challenge was the best however we did find you could come in from the other end as well to get to part of it. The middle part however was 4X4 only. We enjoyed a cold beer here and relax before trying the far south end of it going on pavement to the park area where overnight camping is allowed.

It was packed with campers and folks set up for dinner so we pulled out the chairs to watch the surfers. This area seemed to be ok for folks learning to surf but there were no big swells so no amazing surfers.

and now it is thanksgiving it seems Christmas is on the radio

a favorite travel snack, we went thru a huge bag as well as 2 Spitz we took along

It was now 2:30 so we headed back to the condo for a dip in the pool then a nap on the beach lounger for the big fellow while I relaxed on our lanai listening to music and staying out of the scorching sun. Changing into town clothes we drove to the main bar areas to find supper. S had googled turkey dinner serving places and Huggo’s on the rocks was listed so we stopped there. It is a right on the water with a lovely view. They had turkey dinner, just what S wanted. I opted for the fish tacos. They were both ok but our dinner last night was WAY better and even at $40 US for the 2 crab legs, cheaper then the dinner out ($85 CND)

they did have a hula girl and guitarist for entertainment

We walked the “strip” for a bit to work off the big supper then drove it again before heading to the condo to kick back for yet another day in the Kona sunshine.
