House work day

I had a weird multiple wakings night and awoke with a headache at 7 not being able to get back to sleep, booo, so I played some brain games after letting H out and to her kennel. Time to make coffee as it is around zero out.

With my first coffee I created a Hometalk post for the cherry blossom wine case. Then I created one for the MCM sideboard. Then it was on to plant care; watering them all, finding a water catching pot for the new rubber plant in the new basket and moving Amanda's to a spot for the next few weeks.

The new rubber plant looks pretty in one of the new baskets. I think I may switch the larger one for the same size as the rubber plant. Paetz's 2 plants tower in the background with my little money tree mid photo. Isn't this the cutest little planter below?

Next up was my second workout from Shaina, whew! Have you tried a dead bug exercise? A quick run to let cats out for the day and feed them as well as a quick poop scoop. It is now almost 10 out so the snow is melting fast. Back inside it was vacuuming and floor washing from muddy dog prints.

Lunch was leftover steak meal and cheesecake from my bday ;) S was taking a lunch break and had me test the tub after adding more muriatic acid. I then found hoses and filled it up too as the water has gotten low again. So much more work to keep this tub running then I ever thought. While out I hung up front mats and swept the deck. Once the tub was filled I tested and it was almost perfect except chlorine. B and Coop arrived after 2 as I was putting hoses away.

The bee was even impressed with the test strip :)

She fed and dewormed the horses then she and I took the dogs for a walk around the perimeter. It was blustery on the prairie and brrr. We found another piece of cut wire on the ground and a broken bottom strand that I was able to temporarily get back on the post. My throat is feeling sore so bombed it with Vit C.

Back at the house B headed to town leaving Cooper as she and Dave are heading into the city to celebrate her birthday supper. Last night Britt and Shaina both met friends for supper and ended up at the same restaurant!! Go figure a city that big and they had no idea each was going there. I did more poop scooping then came in to catch up on accounting and computer work. The afternoon has turned out so lovely as the wind let up and sun full force hitting 12 out. I cleaned the ash out of the fireplace hoping it will not be in use till the end of the year.

For supper I had a bowl of turkey soup after dividing the remaining into bowls and freezing but of course the dogs were fed first. Then it was time to book an accommodation for our first night in Victoria. I chose the Strathcona Hotel, hope it was a good pick. Laundry was up next and kitchen cleanup with the sun shining in. I walked out in the gorgeous golden hour with no wind to feed and put cats away. Shaina arrived home after 8, did a few things then she and I headed out to soak in the tub. It was a most beautiful night still at 11 with no wind. (again only downside was the melting feedlot stink) Harley had to get her ball tossed many times as usual.  I came in before 10 to shower while she soaked until 10 and poured in the chlorine I left there. She also went and closed it up then made popcorn as I recorded my giveaway entries to date... still very low.

We headed down to her studio for movie night with popcorn and pop to watch Grease. Bonus facial steam took place as well. Britt stopped to get Cooper after 11 and on her way. We wrapped up our movie night by 12:30 then I listened to an Etsy podcast to bore me to sleep sucking on a vitamin C tab.

Bday celebrations continue

I was awake after 7 as light flakes of snow were falling, overcast and again -4. I did wake at 3:20 to let H out then to the garage. I made coffee with Shaina popping up for a cup with me in bed then off to her meeting. I got some computer work done and ready to head to the city by 10. I did feed the cats and open the door before I left for them.

Seeing my license expired yesterday I stopped at a registry and renewed it then stopped at Winners for returns and found new treasures. Up next was my brain MRI (booked as baseline for dementia) They ask you to be half hour early then run over half hour late. Once in it was a long 25 minutes to stay perfectly still in the noisy machine but I did it! It was now almost 2 so I stopped to get chlorine granules and a tea for my lunch/ride home arriving back at the ranch before 3 just as Paetz's were pulling into the yard with their trailer.

They parked and unhooked the trailer, hauled in their 2 large plants to store here and patio cushions then stopped for a visit. The kids had brought in a sweet plant and Miss Vicky's chips along with artwork for my bday gifts :) They were off for home after 4 as I got to changing our address on land documents I had no idea we needed to do and some other computer tasks. Needing steps and the horses needing their pills (no time for them to eat their mash today) I took Harley for a walk out in the field to give them their pill laced carrots. Shaina was back home from town just as I headed out. H was fed then before I came in.

Kaylin, Nathan and the pups were here around 5 bringing me the most beautiful rubber plant, relaxing bath bombs, wood wick candle and bath salts. Then they took me for supper in Kaylin's new wheels!! Swanky!!! How lucky am I? Shaina popped in to join us for a drink on her way to Calgary for the night.

Back at the ranch after 7 Kaylin sugared me. It has been awhile but so nice to have such professional services. They then loaded up the pups and headed back to the city, THANK YOU both for your gifts and time!!! The only downside is no hot tub after sugaring so computer work it was after a bit of my cheesecake from last night's supper. This will be the 4th day I have missed in over a month of having the tub but there was some days I went twice :) I got busy working on catching up the blog with my iPad and QOTS.

To finish my steps for the day I walked 2000 steps around the island getting dizzy. When I let H in from a bathroom break after 10 I saw J sitting there, taking them food and putting them away for the night added bonus points it seems. I then headed to bed to watch more episodes.

Queens birthday

Today is the queens 96th birthday and my freedom 55!! H needed out at 1:30 then again at 5:30 to do her business I think from the pork she got from Paetz's. B sent bday wishes at 6:45 on her way to work and the wishes continued thru the day. How lucky am I? I made an iced coffee to start my day, shared my birthday paint giveaway on my FB page then when Shaina got up she toasted us a bagel to split. I ran out to let out and feed cats, scoop up the poop piles then tested the spa water. Dang it looks like PH up again so I added chemicals, let them bubble then back out to close up.

Shaina was off to train Sharon at 10 and have a chiropractor appt. I had phone calls from Ma K and Sheldon and replied to more well wishes. I published Dad's table tutorial and posted on the proper sites and sent to the paint company.

She was back after 12 as I was plating up our spinach fruit salads. She picked up my free birthday Starbucks caramel macchiato, thanks dude! As we ate our delicious lunch the sun started to come out, yay!! Sheldon walked me thru adding muriatic acid as my test strip showed no change after chemicals this am.

I wrote up an email for my subscribers to enter the birthday giveaway. Seeing B has a meeting that might run late I went and fed the horses for her. Pepper was being an ass so after he ate his carrot and pill and a bit of food he was kicked out and Bird got hers and his bowls. I then shoveled the sidewalks for my daily workout as the snow was thick and heavy. I tossed it into the flower beds to hydrate. It is plus 6 out now so all is starting to melt. I tested the tub again and found no difference, I give up, chemistry is not my thing ;)

Back to computer work sorting photos on the hard drive to make space and clean up. Shaina finished up and was ready right at 5:30. She drove us to the Station where we enjoyed a lovely supper. The Station is the only place that gives you a free $25 steak plus dessert on your birthday. I think we will be going there for B's birthday Monday too. Thanks for the drinks to go with it Shaina and the great visit reflecting on what I learned and would share as lessons over the last 55 years. She has also booked up pedicures Tuesday :)

We were back home after 7 and took Harley for a walk to get our steps in. Britt and Dave arrived with tulips, mums and chocolate covered strawberries, YUM!! Once they were devoured we all hit the hot tub for an hour long soak. Out at 10 I put in shock chemicals, showered then closed it up. B and D visited for a bit longer then headed home. I crawled into bed and watch more QOTS. What a lovely birthday!! THANK YOU for all who spoiled me with gifts, texts, messages, emails, phone calls etc. I appreciated every one.

I awoke to the stormy winds still blowing and -4 at 6 am but managed to drift till later. Shaina made coffee before 8 so I grabbed one to enjoy with my brain games. H enjoyed her breakfast and bathroom break while I worked on the blog to get published and quick bill pays. I posted the magazine rack on a few sale sites and my FB page. I quickly ran the cats raw food and water at 10 before my phone meeting. There are drifts galore but now the sun was out and the wind subsided and -1.

Shaina hauled the horses 2 bales down from the mez on her break at 10:30 and while out also opened the gate for my paint parcel delivery, THANK YOU!! I soaked the horse feed and shoveled the walk/stairs up to front door for pet food delivery before heading off to town. I closed the winter gate on way out as well. The dresser is gone so someone must have got before snow storm.

There were drifts around horses trailer and gate that needed 4X4 so good thing I took the truck. The roads to town were not plowed yet and 1 car buried deep in the ditch. As the temperature was warming up the water was running everywhere in town. I met Sharon and Coreena at OJ's for a 2 hour lunch, it is always good to have these 3 yearly lunches to catch up. I stopped quick at Walmart for a few things then at Paetz's to pick up cookies Mom had for us. A quick visit then back to the ranch after 3. B was here feeding the two, pitching the hay over to main paddock then walked to open the winter pasture gates and let all the horses out. Shaina was in the kitchen having cooked bacon and eggs and was off to the gym at 4. I ground up flax for B then did a workout shaina wrote out for me in our sunny bedroom.

Computer work was next writing a tutorial for Dad's table when I saw magpies picking thru H poop so ran out to scoop all of it up. I was working on the blog when Shaina got home after 6. We had a bowl of turkey soup for supper, nice no cooking day for me :)

oh how I love the golden hour

At 8 Shaina and I headed out to the hot tub, what a beautiful no wind gorgeous sunset night, only downfall was feedlot smell but in the tub you cant smell it. Harley had us throwing the ball lots too. We came in at 9, I put chemicals in, showered then went and closed it up. Shaina did computer work at the island making popcorn of course and I relaxed in bed watching Queen of the South season 2.
