4 chairs painted

The wind howled all night and had the deck furniture really bouncing in the early morning. I continue to move the wake up time for H getting dressed and out at 7:45. It was blustery and cool but we did our thing including giving J his last set of pills, filling kitten food, cleaning litter and opening the door. Back to garage to eat and for me to get busy painting the chairs. I got 2 completed with first coat with help of 1 cappuccino and my shop dog who loves snooping around and chewing her bone on the comfy mattress.

One must be careful where she dips her brush :)

I had another hour webinar at 10 finishing up in time and making a fresh cappuccino to sip while watching. When it ended I wrote a Hometalk post for the white S&P set. Last bowl of chicken soup for lunch and outside for a walk. It was a warm sunny 23 but the wind still blew. H and I checked all the shelters and found the minerals all gone. Back at the barn there was only a bit left so it was put in closest shelter tub. The kittens needed water so off to the house to fill and put back in their stall.

The next 2 chairs were painted while Harley tore apart the mineral bag, chewed on her bone and finally had a nap; success! It did not last long but happened. I also threw a load of rags, towels, horse wraps and dog blankets thru the garage laundry facilities.

Anyone need a professional paper shredder?

We came in at 3 for a snack and drink and computer work. While updating the blog I had a message asking to purchase the drum table. I only shared a sneak peek last night and had yet to post for sale so that is great. Back in the garage I cut the foam mattress to fit Diego's old bed cover. It worked great but H is almost to big. I was going to cut the remaining to fit in the night kennel but when I put it up to cut she leapt up like it was a bed. I may try it for a bit as is before cutting.

In and out many times meeting J on a few. I watered the garden to get the last few zucchinis as well as leash maneuver around. H and I worked on "place" command on the new dog bed. 

I was eating a late supper of the leftover taco meat and zucchini when B & C arrived after 7. She took the quad with food to bird then was off for home. Out for a walk putting J inside then back in to computer watching training videos and trying to get blog caught up. My aim to do the last walk of the day at 9:30 went out the window but we did head out before 10 then put in garage kennel for the night. I crawled into bed and ended up watching yet more videos. I was just drifting off at 11 when Shaina called saying she was on her way to spend the night. I was listening to my sleepy meditation music when she arrived after 11:30.

Dog lesson day

I pushed the wake time for Harley today till 7:45 giving me time to wake up slowly rather then jumping up and outside ASAP. It was a brisk 5 degrees out but so cool with the fog low in the pasture. It was moving fast but I did get a few pics quick. 

Todays feeding was in a suggested homemade slow feeder egg carton. I filled and ran to do cat duties. Mr J only had 2 more pill times and watched the kittens run around for a bit from the safety of the stairs. Seeing one of the chairs was not exact the customer choose 2 of each brand so while I was there I grabbed the partner from the mez and back to the garage. The slow feeder was in pieces of course :)

I scrubbed up the chair then we looped around to the front picking veggies and then inside. The drum table had a few pics snapped finally.

 

 Time for a shower then I added a clear coat of wax to the S&P and snapped some pics. 

Then off we went again looping back around to the garage where I sanded the chair edges and dings then sealed with stain finishing oil.

I was just finishing up when B and Coop arrived at noon. She has Wednesdays off for the next few months. I took Harley out who was doing great on leash even with J until she sees Cooper. They got a rip around the round pen then H to the kennel to catch her breath while I ate a bowl of salad and back out to trim feet. Britt was working then riding Roo in the round pen so I caught Switch and got started. We had them  finished in hour and a half but it was a chore as both had full false soles to remove and at 23 it was a warm one even with door open. 

Harley's first lesson was set for 3 but we ended up late as Britt changed her mind about taking us and rerouted thru town giving me her car once at her condo. Even driving 120 I was 15 minutes late making for a very hurried but successful lesson. Loaded up and on the road back to Strathmore I swung thru A&W to grab a burger even though 4 and ate it as I drove to Tim's to pick us up an iced coffee then to B's. She jumped in and drove us home and was off back to town. 

I had text for her to open pasture gate but she did not get it in time so Harley and I practiced her walking skills to do it. Back at the house I put her in the kennel and went and closed the yard gate. She takes a wide berth around it as she touched it the other morning with her mouth and has since never gotten close. The S&P customer wanted to pick them up but seeing yard gate was up and I would have to open I wrapped them up and took to the main gate for her. I kept H busy while I went feeding her supper in the garage then we went for yet another walk. At the round pen she was very excited to find fresh horse poop Britt did not clean up, yuck!! I cleaned it up then we looped the grass scooping a shovel full of various non H dog piles yet again. This is when I really appreciated Lola never pooped within the yard, always in the pastures.

Computer work and rest for H then out before 8. The news said the wind would pick up and that it did. We picked up J on our walk and took him to the barn, closed doors and gave him pills checked on the kittens and back to the garage where I put in her last eye meds. We are now to wait 10 days and reassess with the rescue vets. Fingers crossed the suture dissolves and reaction goes down. I also found out today she had 3 eye surgery dates with the last one Aug 21. Kennel time while I changed into PJ's and watched part of The Secret. It is an oldy but a good reminder for gratitude and positivity.

I moved the last walk of the night to 9:30. H does not like the dark, she barked at a shadow behind us. Third time really she has barked in 2+ weeks. Seems funny seeing she is so big but really only a puppy. The wind was blowing things everywhere too but we mastered our potty chore then tucked her away for the night and I to bed to try and finish the show but shut off with 15 minutes left.

First day of fall

 I woke at 5 with what felt like was a solid chunk of sleep and drifted back till after 7. Up and on with our usual day. walk, feed H, go give J pills & food as well as the kittens then back to garage. It looks like another beauty day and today is he first day of fall ;( The drum table knob was decided and it took awhile deciding then finding a screw to work but in the end I think it looks good. I brought it in and will stage later today.

Computer work quick then it was time to head back out for a walk, interact with J and find the chairs needed for the order. Once I found them and got them down from the mez, H and I made 4 trips back and forth. This was great leash practice but slow going as J was following along causing great interest as were the horses so we had to do a few stops.

Once in the garage, I ran with quad and closed the gate on the horses then got chairs all scrubbed up. My crocs get very slippery and it seems poor Harley's feet did the same when she ran across the wet cement to grab a ball and slipped. She retreated to the top of the stairs and laid until I came in for a bowl of soup and her to the kennel.

A customer dropped off giant S&P set around 1:30, picked out her color then wanted to meet Harley. Once she was off we took a tour of the yard and visited with J again. She really wants him to play. In the garage it was snack and eye meds and scrub up the grinders.

Inside it was writing a tutorial for the teal coffee table and get it sent to sponsors and posted. We are working on place command which is the front door mat but have not mastered it. I painted the S&P set while watching Ellen and she would come off mat and lay at my feet or to the kennel but I think she was a house dog before being surrendered for sure.

It was now after 5:30, Another loop around and to the garage leaving H in the kennel there while I cooked zucchini for supper then brought her in for more place practice. Britt and Cooper were out and she was keen to go out. It was tough on leash around the cat, horses and Cooper but she managed until the play time in round pen that had them both tuckered. I even was able to leash them both and come back over to where Britt was putting Bird back out after feeding. It was a cooler day really giving the feel of fall with a high of 18.

B & C went to play with the kitties while we went and got J's pills. B gave him his pills then played again with the babies while H and I went to pick more poop then garage for eye meds and relax time in the kennel. I left her to come in and catch up todays blog. She got her last walk of the night then put to bed for the night as did I.

S heads north after 3 weeks off

Harley was awake just before 7 so I put on housecoat and took for for a quick bathroom break then back in the kennel with peanut butter in her qwizel.

I tried to lay back down but of course once I am awake this does not happen so I got up and took her to the garage to have breakfast. While she was eating I went and gave J his pills, checked on the kittens and let J out on my way back to the garage. H eye meds and some explore time while I sanded and distressed the drum table. It is a GORGEOUS last day of summer; no smoke, no wind and loads of sunshine.

 

Time to get a coffee and a quick computer check. S served a cup then was back to bed. J was out on the deck when H wanted water so we did some cat therapy on leash which is getting a bit better. She really just wants him to play which will not be happening. She and I looped around the garden to pick a couple zucchinis then back past J a few times and inside. S was listening to some financial podcast for the morning and relaxing in big brown. He did try visiting with H at the front door inside mat but he brings out her playful side and preferred to drink his coffee in big brown.

   

Computer work, another coat of clear wax on the desk top then back outside around 11:30. S got dressed and helped us find wood to set up a cat safety door to the mez. We came in to clean up some leftovers for lunch. Back at the computer I did a bit of accounting and tutorial prep while S relaxed in big brown with his phone.

The sunshine finally called him so we took Harley out for some kitty training and it is going very well. S had his changeover phone call on the deck too so we continued to walk then sit and observe the horses for awhile then go to the garage for eye meds, a snack and weigh her. Harley is 83 pounds today. S finished up his call, grabbed his bags and was off after yet another 3 week hiatus to the north around 3:30. I hemp oiled the drum table then H and I came in to continue computer work.

For supper I created a Kale salad I saw on Marilyn, it was really good, as well I made a protein smoothie. 

left eye still puffy, the rescue is checking in with vets but may have to take her up to Ponoka to get a check.

Then it was to the garage for H to eat while I wiped the oil back. This 23 day has turned a bit smoky late afternoon but still nice out. Time for another walk, I noticed the gal from the vets was at the gate dropping off kitty dewormer on her way home. H and I made our way their very slowly but made it. The horses wanted out badly so followed us most of the way to the gate and back which had H nervous. New lady at the gate was another exposure but she did well. On our walk back to the house it seems I lost the pills and receipt so back we went half way to the gate.  

        

Back to the garage to dark wax the table. It looks lovely don't you think?.

B and Coop were out after 7 as I was finishing up. H and I went out for a quick play with C in the round pen then a leash walk out to the horses where Britt was feeding. When Cooper is off leash it is a struggle as he deeks and dives and wants to play getting her all excited to play and makes it hard to concentrate on behaving on the leash. In the barn I gave the kittens their dewormer and B gave J his pills and tucked everyone away for the night. They headed home and we to the garage to get eye meds (almost out and waiting for vet direction) and tuck her in the kennel. I did some computer work then watched the last of Home Edit stopping to take H out for the last potty break at 10.
