Mr Jenkin's tries out condo life

I awoke at 5 am and my brain went into ideas to assimilate Mr J to indoor living. Britt is going to take him to the condo and see how it works. This would give Cooper a day friend too we are hoping. I could not fall asleep till after 7 thinking of ideas but think I got some good ones.

I let Lexi and J out then got the cappuccino going and on to marketing. Then J was brought inside as he continues to cry when let out. I am not sure if he is just wanting someone to pet him or if he is calling Mitz or if he is mourning her disappearance but bet it is all 3. He did well especially with Lexi on high alert that he must be after her food and not liking him in the house.

He headed back out before lunch and found a sleeping spot to nap. The dresser customer arrived after 12; we loaded her up in her rental car (to be sure it fit vs her Honda civic) then had a short visit. She is a great customer who works as a travel agent. She has been unemployed since March but is enjoying catching up with friends and local travel in the meantime.

I worked on the dining table tutorial getting it complete and posted. Now it was time to kick my own butt to getting more projects done. The sideboard top was worked on trying some stripper then lacquer thinner on the water marks with no luck. I did some more hand sanding on the top too. Mom's doll had glue removed and the last area glued and clamped.

Then it was on to the little table dropped off yesterday to be painted to match the accent table. It was scrubbed and a coat of paint brushed on with bonding agent added seeing it was a faux wood table with shiny finish. The hazy smoky day hit 30, who knew. I thought it was to be cooler but they say the rest of the week will be.

Sharon popped by after 5 for a few beers and a catch up. I served pretzels and dip as our supper ;) Britt and Cooper were out at 7:30 and feeding Bird so we went to see Roo only to have the temperature drop quickly and a huge wind storm roll in. We waited it out in the barn for a bit then Sharon headed for home. I grabbed a jacket and took Switch's herbs to her having most blow out. B took off KD's wrap with no chance to hose as the wind was sideways. I came in with J after loading him a container of food and cleaning his kitty litter to go. I got some logs I think will satisfy his scratching and I loaded in a carpeted scratching pole he used as a rubbing post.

B was back after going back and medicating Pepper's eye. Cooper and J were loaded in the backseat and they were off at 9. I did a bit of marketing then Lexi and I were off to bed after I put on the freshly washed sheets to start season 3 of Good Girls. Sheldon was home after 11 and was in bed and asleep in less then 10 minutes of walking thru the door, no shower just head on pillow snore.

and it seems he loves TV and Cooper was so stoked to have a roomie he would not settle down needing to show J all his toys and lick his face etc

Birthday supper invite

Mr J was happy to see me this am but very loud, more then normal once outside. He has never liked to be alone. I had a cap with him on the deck and some watering then back in to market a bit. Today I have drop off/ pick up and a couple coming to see the dining set so it was clean time. The dining set was moved to the stair area and the dresser hauled in. Knobs were put on the dresser and it was all put together and staged. The gal will pick up tomorrow.

Once the dresser was moved to the front door along with the navy accent table the dining room was reassembled along with the rest of the pieces. Dusting was in order for the main area to look its best. Back outside with J for awhile I tidied up the front flower beds removing the fencing and wood pieces used to stop dogs laying in the cool mulch. Hoses moved, more plants pulled and dog poop picked up. Lola always went in the fields which made cleanup after her non existent.

More tidying and a tuna sandwich before B, Cooper and Lexi arrived after 1:30. B found KD back leg puffy so hosed and wrapped it, good job nurse B. She then caught Roo to ride. The sun was full out now heating up to 25 now after a nice partially clouded cooler morning.

The navy table customer arrived at 2 bringing another one to be painted to match. We had a short visit as she is a great repeat customer then she was off. I continued my cleaning and marketing till the table couple arrived around 3. They had allot of questions and decided the hint of grey in the top was just not what they wanted. They wanted solid stark white and will look for one to have me custom paint, darn the luck.

 

I picked this first carrot of the season as I watered the garden then was watering the parched grass by the apple trees to try and revive a bit and moved to another spot. It seems it was lucky I had the timer going on my phone for this as I had set off for town after 4 to attend Amanda's birthday supper celebration. I had a few stops prior to and while looking for paint stripper in Rona the timer went off!! Dang it! I could not leave it run or the tank would go dry and burn out the pump so instead of getting groceries after supper I grabbed them and ran them home and turned off the water.

I was heading back to town just after 5 when I could not spot Pepper in the far paddock and Bird had been standing along the fence alone when I drove in and still so worried about the black cloud that seems to be hanging over the ranch I opened the gates and drove over. I hiked to peek over the hill and nothing but found him standing in the shelter just chilling. Thank God.

Of to town and arriving at the Paetz's now to celebrate. Britt was invited as well and we all enjoyed a most delicious steak and Japanese salad supper. SO yummy!! Instead of birthday cake all 8 of us loaded up in the expedition and went thru the DQ drive thru. Some had cotton candy dipped cones, some sundaes and the birthday girl and B a blizzard. B and I set off for home around 8. B swung past her place to get Cooper. We fed the 2 mares and Britt hosed and rewrapped KD's leg again. She is such a great caretaker of animals. THANKS B!! While we were out there we head a car beeping on the highway. On the off chance it was someone tooting at a cat we jumped on the quad and headed down the highway/tree line stopping to call Mitz along the way. We looped around thru the neighbors field and back to scour the mezzanine again just to check all hiding spots. No luck ;(

B and Cooper were off for home now as it was getting dark around 9. I brought J back into the garage for the night then Lexi and I hit the big comfy bed to finish the season of Glow Up. I had to check the deck twice when I heard a distant meow (which was only J in the garage) and again when Lexi barked at the door in her intruder alert bark. Sadly nothing seemed to be out there.

Mitzy has gone missing officially

Mitzy was not to be found last night so I woke a few times worrying about her then could hear J on the deck around 6. I awoke to high winds and a headache, not a great start to the day. I guzzled a couple caps while do a quick marketing and getting the blog posted then put a final coat of clear on the drawer front and dresser top.

I was loading rails for our 11 am lesson at 10:30 when Britt and Cooper arrived. She went and caught the 2 horses then we tacked up and warmed up. Anna arrived at 11 and we had another good lesson in about 24 degrees with wind. No bugs at least. She was off and we untacked, fed herbs and released before 1.

Still no sign of Mitz. Britt took the quad after a bowl of soup to check along the trees with no luck. Our fingers are crossed she is out on an extended mouse hunt. It is now plus 25, that and the sadness of Mitz had B not wanting to ride Bird till later so she and Cooper went back to their condo. She dropped off my Etsy parcel on her way, THANK YOU!

I had cut new drawer runners but need to wait till the stain is dry to glue on. I moved on to scrubbing the sideboard. It was GROSS. I am assuming it was a smoking home ;(

It hit 27 out but the wind finally let up later in the afternoon. I went out to check buildings just in case Mitzy might be shut in one then back to the garage to glue and nail on the runners and wax the dresser runners too. The sideboard was dry so did a bit of sanding on the top and on the glued veneer areas.

Back inside I folded laundry I had thrown in and have garage laundry going too. I watched some Glow Up while doing this and doing a bit of computer work. Britt and Cooper arrived at 7:30. She caught and rode Bird while I chopped off spent perennials and pulled weeds. It was such a lovely night to be out. She fed Bird before putting her back on the far paddock. Before heading home she noticed J was vomiting allot and was concerned but thought I should bring him inside. She took Lexi home for a sleepover with Cooper just before 9. 

I put J in the garage, went out and got him food and fresh water and will check on him a few times. My garage laundry was heating it up but Lola's fan was still plugged in to give a cool breeze. It was now almost 10 and I realized I forgot supper so whipped up a smoothie and was off to bed to watch Netflix after checking J a couple times.

B dropped Cooper off at 7 for his ranch day care day. He patiently waited for the most part till Lexi and I got up around 8:30 then they jetted off for a pee break and back in.

I got the caps underway and some marketing and answered an Etsy message only to have the pepper grinder sell with the response. I got it bundled up, found a box and got the label printed up.

Heading out in the sunshine I moved Pepper and Bird to the far paddock that is loaded with grass much to the chagrin of the other 3 mares. It was a beauty day with no wind and so far 22 so I watered the garden and picked some zucchini and set the timer on the back flower bed. 

The navy table got a coat of hemp oil and the clamps taken off the sideboard and more wood filler added. The dresser had a clear coat added to drawers and top then the body was clear waxed.

Back inside I added new felt feet to the dining table then staged the accent table. Lunch was some more chicken and I froze the remainder.. getting tired of it LOL. Time to work on marketing and tutorials for awhile.

Then it was back to the garage to put the dark wax on the dresser.

The roll top desk was picked up at 4. The gate seemed to have malfunctioned again this am after B dropped off Cooper so we headed down to reset it in the ranger but it had reset when the truck left with the desk.

I decided to cook an actual meal tonight; salmon, zucchini and corn. It was quite tasty and Cooper got to have Lola's favorite skin with Lexi getting a wee taste.

Britt was out later then usual not till after 8. It was blustery and kinda yuck out so she fed Bird not sure about riding. I came in and changed and caught Switch and we went to ride for about half an hour, fed her herbs and released. Britt did catch Roo and rode for a short bit too then hosed her leg and put out as I was taking KD her cabbage. Mitzy was no where to be found tonight. B checked around for her in her usual spots with no luck then she and Cooper were off. I showered and started season 2 of Glow Up on Netflix.
