tidy kind of day

I finished the last half hour of season 3 of Outlander after letting the dogs out at their usual 8:30. Once prince awoke he made his coffee and we relaxed for a bit on yet another smoky hazy day. Britt was home around 11:30 from the city having stayed in after the birthday party.

Illona dropped off 2 wee cabinets to have painted white and visited for a bit. S started to unload his treasures he brought back from the farm.

I took the large frame apart and filled the edges where I removed the mirror with embossing paste after it was scrubbed and dry.

We had a late lunch after 2 of burgers with fresh guacamole. B made us cappuccinos too. Time to head outside, and let the horses out and drop a huge tire tube at the gate for a fellow. Prince and I took the ranger to do so then S worked on cutting his wood and I cleaned the horse trailer out for furniture pick up tomorrow.

I moved on to weeding, pruning, transplanting and watering while S mowed the lawn and the small east paddock. I had to first go along and pick up dog toys and bones for him. B did a round to pick up chewed up stuff Cooper hauled around too.

Back inside I wrote the blog post for the purple nightstand and did more marketing for pages. S got the weed eater out and did around all the fence so the east side looks so neat and tidy. He then move the 2 white ponies back into the paddocks for the night before coming inside.

Dave came out at 8 and whipped up a delicious taco dip for us, yum. Thanks! After a catch up of his days racing they were off to watch movies. I got Lola in pretty easily tonight.

pestering coyotes

The wind was still blowing after it started up at 11 last night thru the morning. Britt was not feeling well (run down) so called in sick before 7 and back to bed. I spent the morning working on the tournament and the hutch pictures, getting them posted and writing more how to posts including the purple flower stake.

 I did roust B to come up and make me a couple cappuccinos from her Netflix in bed routine. I made fresh guacamole for our lunch too. The rain had started and seeing the horse pastures are bare and they are getting chilly, B and I went out and took the ranger to give Hawk his pill then lead them out to the big field. Back at the house we closed the gate, dropped B at the house and I put the ranger away.

The rain came down for awhile yet with a total of 2/10ths. I got to work in the garage working on projects starting with the jewelry boxes I started yesterday. They got a 2nd coat, distressed and waxed.

Between coats, I cleaned the pepper grinder and painted it black for 2 coats.

I began making the canning ring pumpkins including one with spray painted rings choosing blue.

At the Valley there was no rain, S and Papa got a load of wood cut and loaded along with some other treasures from the shop.

The nightstand from my stash Cindy chose was gotten out and repairs made. Once dry I buffed up the jewel boxes and brought in to snap a few pics of the taller of the two and get it posted.

B was required to do a few chores such as vacuum after her dog, wash his dog bed and horse wraps and tidy island. I came in for supper as Britt was getting ready to head to town to go out for Brooke's birthday.

This time I used the quad to get the horses in at 8 and broke up a pile of hay S dumped. Computer work then a soak in the tub with Outlander. S arrived home before 11 having dropped Pap back at the Hat and enjoyed Gramas cooking and was soon fast asleep. I had left Lola out and at midnight she went crazy. even Cooper was barking from inside. I went out to find coyotes right at the yard. I called the sleeping Prince who was slow on the gun retrieval. I headed back in while I watched and sure enough after she pushed them back in the field and she patrolled back and forth for a bit I saw and heard her race for the house with them in pursuit. Again I called the sleeping prince who never managed to get there but she was happy to go in the garage now with them out numbering her. The brisk night air had me wide awake to watch another episode before falling asleep half an hour before I could finish the season.

Today is Amanda's bday!! cheers XOXO Today is going to be another hot one even with the smoke. I had S help me move the buffet once I got the car out and then I added the hutch and snapped some photos. He loaded trash and cardboard and was off to town.

While I was organizing I decided to paint the 2 jewelry boxes I just purchased with left over milk paint in the fridge, cute!

Back from town we had a quick bite then I was off to town for my 2 pm massage (last one of the year as I now used my $500 limit) After it I ran a few errands including picking up the blender for milk paint, dog food and dropping Amanda's gift off with a quick visit.

Back at the ranch at 4:30, S was rolling up the hay producing a whopping 1 and 3/4 bales from the entire field. It seems the short grass just fell out so ended up a real waste of fuel and time but yet another farming lesson. My hutch/buffet gal and her SIL stopped before 5 as I was watering the garden. They loaded it up and the purple nightstand too. They wanted to see the gateleg table and want first dibs and picked out another nightstand in my stock to paint like this one before they were off.

Not long later she sent me photos of an estate sale she passed. There looked like a few things of interest but I would need to run in. S had the dump trailer hooked up and was just jumping in the shower but once out we ran to town. It turned out the pieces were worse for wear and I passed on both I thought I wanted and only left with a mirror. ;)

We grabbed a KFC twister on our way to Paetz's for a slab of ice cream cake. Yum ;) The 2 middle kids entertained us eventually snuggling up on my lap each with their ipads while the fellows visited, Asher was in his own world on his ipad.

We set off for home dropping me off and grabbing rhubarb I picked the other day for Ma K and Sheldon headed to the Hat to stay the night then go to the valley to cut some firewood. Britt was home in her room. I finally had time to sit and catch up on the blog before catching more Outlander episodes. I forgot to share the navy antique table how to post went live a few days ago.

Lots to eat and visiting kinda day

Today we are off to Rosebud Theater for Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat play, an anniversary gift from Ma and Pa K. Before we headed off, S went and raked the draws to dry the other side, I gave Hawk his pill, did quick marketing then showered up. It did not take long to rake and once showered up we were off around10:30 (it was 26 out already) arriving there in about 50 minutes. Ma, Pa and Candace had just gotten there too so we opted to eat first then peruse the shops before the show started at 1:30.

It was a well done show and once over we said our goodbyes and were off heading west to the city for the next event. Temperature was now showing 33 in the car, roasty day. S's fellow Suncor worker retired and was passing thru town, as a bon voyage we met the fellow his wife and another couple for drinks, appetizers and steak supper. Holy it is a day of good eating for sure. We all stopped back at their hotel for a night cap before heading home.

We got back to the ranch at 9:30, whew! Britt and Dave were relaxing after Britt cooked supper this time. We visited a bit with them then we were off to bed. Prince was soon asleep and I caught a few more Outlander episodes before calling it a day.
