belated birthday supper for the Prince

I dislike waking with a headache specially when it could have been a sleep in day as NO one has to be up and gone to work, dang not my luck. I went to repaint the canister set, this time I changed even from my plan last night, I went with soft grey.

but first snuggles with this fur ball

Sheldon started the water near the shop and worked on replacing non working drip portions in the drip line.

The internet went out at noon so for the next hour I trouble shot only to find the router finally may have cratered.

After a bite to eat and running for another load of water, Sheldon went to town to buy a new one while I finished up sanding the canister set then got ready for us to go me Grama & Papa at Mossleigh. It is another hot one hitting 31! Britt spent the morning "cleaning" her room once awake then got ready for her date at 3 to the city to shop and a movie.

Max picked Britt up at 3, I installed the new router and then we were off to meet others for supper at 3:30. Grama, Papa and auntie Candace had arrived just ahead of us so we perused the gift shop before heading to the deck to enjoy a belated birthday supper. Thanks for supper and the visit folks.

At 7 we all hit the road for home, once back I changed and got back to the canister set. I surely will not be able to charge per hour on this project as so much time and changes have happened. I hand painted the carved words then black waxed only to find it seemed to stark. Yep repaint those sides and do over. Finally all the canisters and lids were finished and left to dry.

Sheldon started the water on the grass now it finally cooled off from 31. Prepping for the early morning flight and catching some TV rounded out his night.

canister chaos

Another lovely 24 day but still need rain. Sheldon went to get a load of water after his breakfast to water the dying grass while I got busy in the garage. I could now glue the chair legs in place and replace the screws before painting up the canister set. I went with a blue milk paint then sanded and added a lighter blue green wash.

A cold beverage and sausage lunch break was had before he was off for more water and I was back painting the chair a lichen green.

I finished the rustic bench blog post I started last night, Sheldon got ready and was off to the city at 3:30 to meet his friend Dan for the Stamps game. I went back out to work on the canisters and chair but found the canisters were still chipping and looking crappy on the lids. The touch up side were the same so an hour later I had them all scrubbed clean to start over. ;( I did paint the seat of the chair and sand distress the edges, I guess one project is working.

I had Britt detour thru town to grab supper. I went out in the now 26 sunshine and did some weeding till she arrived at 7:30 with Vietnamese, our favorite. She was off to her room to spend a quiet Friday night catching up on rest. I detailed the green chair with dark wax, one successful project for the day.

dark wax on 2 left spindles right are solid green

The bench I posted today and it sold in a couple hours with a list of  interested so will make more for sure. I was marketing when Sheldon got home from the football game at 11.

girls head to Van

Lex needed out at 4:45, Britt was off at 6:45 and I was awake at 7:45 for the day. K was ready with her bags packed and after hugs to Lex and I was out the door after 8 for her 9 am shift. Her and Shaina leave for Vancouver for 4 days tonight. She is very excited, Have fun girls.

I perused Instagram till about 9 when I went to make coffee but the Prince awoke to make it too. I worked on the bench hauling it out to sand. Plants needed watering as it is a cooler morning but things are dry. I got more water going. Prince came out to start work on cleaning out his truck. This took many hours for his detailing service.

The bench had a wobble so the carpenter and I shortened a leg and I planed the legs smooth and finished sealing it with 2 coats of poly then detailed in black wax.

Shaina started her day off late around noon with a toad in the hole and started laundry. She was packed up and read to head to the city before 3. I followed soon after heading to the customer with the grey chair that needed dropping off and the first dresser I did for her have the top waxed to match the rest. I got their new house tour, lovely. Sheldon was off to town to running errands.. AKA buying more tools I bet ;)

Once back I worked on finishing the dresser blog post but it cannot go live until September as a brand blog. Time to tidy the garage and get my next project. I went with a wood chair; it had loose legs and after lots of screw removal and trying to hammer apart I ended up splitting the solid wood seat at a seam.. sheesh. So the next hour was spent gluing and clamping it back together.

I cooked up sausage and perogies with ceasar salad for supper. Britt was sacked after work so once ate, headed to her room. I went back out and scrubbed up the wooden canister set Mom gave me for my birthday. Time then to work on a Hometalk post and the blog. Kaylin text at 10 they had a good flight and were on the sky train to Megan's (Michael cousin) house, thanks lovey for letting us know.

windy but warm

B was off to work, Lex came up at 7 first needing let out then jumped into bed and although Kaylin does not work till 1:30 she has a massage in the city at 9. I checked to see if she was up at 8 which she was and out the door soon after. I have my rescheduled acupuncture at 9 so had to get myself out the door to it.

Sheldon was working on grading the road when I got back after. We had a coffee and he went back to it as Sharon arrived to join me for a coffee, catch up and drop off 4-H books I am to mark. Prince ran the trash to town but was back for lunch Shaina was making for us after she arrived after 12. Thanks Dude for those grilled cheese and soup. Sharon headed home as lunch was ready. Shaina gave us a quick update of her BC adventure then got ready and headed to her 2 pm shift.

my shadow finds the best places to curl up while I check my marketing

Sheldon started oil changes doing the lawn mower first while I started painting the bench he made me. Things were going good till I set the dish of black milk paint on the edge of the table only to find it was not under the newspaper! thanks goodness for a long inside hose and these awesome floor drains, I had it off the floor and my legs in no time

While the first two coats dried he and I had a cold beer before he was back to start the skid steer and me to putting the white coat on the bench. The wind really picked up and apples were being blown off the tree so I brought in another shirt full. It did hit 28 so warm drying harvest wind but here it is a hay and grass burner ;(

I got a message my paint parcel was delivered to the gate so my side kick and I toured down on the quad to retrieve it.

Time to start supper which I had ready late for Britt to get home and the oil guy but he needed a wrench so was off to town at 7:30. I went ahead and ate alone at 8 but eventually Britt came up and he was back home to enjoy it. After eating he headed back out to finish when a terrible wind storm blew thru, yuck! Shaina was home from work to eat at 9:30 with Kaylin getting home at 10:30. They dyed K's hair amidst giggles.
