snow day

Hard to believe it is the last Friday in February. It started out foggy but by 9 the snow started to lightly come down in increasing volume throughout the day.

I started spray painting the now dry hardware. Another custom paint job was dropped off at 10, a handmade desk. They visited for a bit and picked a paint color and then were off.

Time to move my new shelf into place and get the paint all moved over. Sheldon helped me move it into place then he worked on his GST books. I had everything reorganized by noon stopping for a grilled cheese compliments of chef Shelly, thanks.

Once I chowed down I was back out working on the hardware giving it a hammered look like the new knobs. I think they looked great and once passed by the customer I replaced them on the dresser and time to stage all the pieces. Again I called for my spare muscles to help lift the dresser off the rolling cart.

 

He helped me load back on the cart and was off with Britt to hang the doors in the barn. They look great, now for hardware

The desk got a quick scrub down and left to dry while I came in to join Sheldon for Ellen and update my blog while watching. The snow had a wee break and the sun peeked out briefly but was soon back. I prefer the soft snow covered look to the nuclear so it is all good.

Supper and back to work, Sheldon to his books and hockey and me to the garage. Britt was back to Netflix and napping. I made drawer holes bigger and Sheldon drilled 2 new ones in one drawer then I put on the first coat of white. I also put a couple coats of tough coat on the bedroom set for added durability.

this piece has seen allot in its life and has many dings and bangs and the customer wants them left but I had to add 2 new buttons as that drove me crazy ;)

and after the first coat had a couple hours to dry I put on the 2nd coat and it and the poly on bedroom suite tops before heading to bed to watch some Netflix.

Lucky me, I have a massage booked today. Sheldon decided to come along and dropped me off for my 11:30 appointment. He ran errands including a few groceries and was back to pick me up in an hour. We grabbed a tea - no wins and headed back home for a quick lunch.

I spent the next 4 hours working on grey washing the bedroom suite. (and scrubbing up the hardware and letting dry overnight)

Sheldon dumped a partial bale over the fence for the horses then got busy putting the barn door rail as his afternoon project.

I put on a prime rib bison roast at 5 with my probe feature but it was large and took 3 hours to hit med rare! Britt arrived home around 5:30 having tomorrow off as well. Pretty short week for her so was sort of like spring break ;) The roasting smell was making us all crazy having to wait so long but a delicious supper was had after 8 with mashed potatoes, gravy, beets and roasted veggies, scrumptious!

city run

We awoke to the chirping of the smoke alarm but after a call to the manufacturer we got the low down how to remove and indeed change the battery, whew thank goodness that has ended. Time for some coffee on this foggy icy morning. The fog has been hanging around for days keeping them overcast and about a high of 2. Today the highways, yard and vehicles were covered in a layer of ice so we waited a bit before heading to the city.

By 11 we loaded up and were off, or at least attempted. Lola thought she would follow along again so I went back gave her a juicy bone and tried again. First stop to drop the merc at Mr Lube for a coolant flush then carried on to the NE in the truck first stop the sausage store to load up on sausage making supplies. IKEA took a bit of time waiting in the customer service line, the worst part of shopping I have to say but it was worth it in the end. We loaded up on little step stools for a paint class I may host then hit a new restaurant for lunch call Via Cibo. It was good but next time I would pass on the Italian beer and the prosciutto (AKA ham) salad. One must read better when ordering ;)

Costco was next in line for loading up goodies including pork for the sausage making. The snow really was starting to come down now but by the time we got to the house where an antique dining set was it had let up and after loading and getting on the highway headed east, it quit. One final stop to grab horse stuff and we were ranch bound.

Time to unload all the treasures of the day, let Coco out and head to town to pick up the car. Seeing it was now supper time and we missed Valentine's day, supper was enjoyed at The Road House. So good but so filling time to go home and change into comfy clothes. Sheldon detoured to restock beer and Bailey's quick before joining me stretched out on the bed to catch up on last 3 episodes of Vikings season 4. Finishing up at 9 left us lots of time to catch a movie too. Focus was Britt's recommend and we really liked it, thanks B! I have to say my gel nail job had a snag today and when it does that I pick. So through the 3 Vikings episodes I removed all 10 nails.. dam!

Coffee man was on duty by 8. He has a list of fellows coming today to pick up bison with the first arriving after 9. I headed out to put the second coat on the bedroom suite.

Sheldon was off to town to meet another fellow for bison stored at Gary's and do some errands. He was back at noon with teas and coffee for us all. I won the first Kuhn roll up the rim prize, potato wedges! Bahahaha yay me

A quick lunch and another fellow stopped out. I worked on more of the FB furniture group admin stuff. I did touch up paint Britt's mirror edges and she took time out of her busy day off to make blueberry muffins and vacuum the stairs and her room! Good job B.

I also spent a good chunk of time on the phone with Bell setting up a new phone for Shaina who lost hers on Sunday night. Crazy though after I got it all good to go, a fellow text me. turns out he has her phone, found it by his car that night. Now it seems this fellow went to apple who sent him to bell for help, no luck, they said sorry privacy act. Are you KIDDING me!! How about take the guys name and then contact the phone owner to see if they indeed lost their phone and if so give them the guys info or have the phone dropped at a bell store for her to get! He also posted on kijiji but said he is overrun with people messaging him it is their phone. Luckily this guy is a detective and thru a Bell app tracked down mine and Britt's cell # and contacted us. I actually looked at the number and thought of ignoring like Britt did but thought best send a ? good thing right.

I put on some short ribs for supper perfect for the cool plus 3 overcast day. Britt loaded up and was off to school around 7:30 while Sheldon hit the hockey TV room and as I was about to paint Bell called back with another 40 min conversation as to getting our plan back to what it was this morning ;)
