last polox tournament w/e day 1

This is the last tournament of the season and being late there are less people able to make it. This worked well for start times. Coffee was back on my menu today ;) We do not play until noon today so even though up early getting stuff together we actually did not pull pull of the yard with 4 horses loaded until 10 am. The weather was horrid with a strong breeze but coming from the north it did push behind us for part of the way.

 Pepper wanted to take a snack along for the ride!

Shaina and Brad met us there and it was a quick tack up. Our local 4-H club had members there to check it out so they popped over to watch tack up before the games started. Switch was curious about all the horses but did not care for the rubber bell boots affixed to her feet. Seeing the field and the other players for her very first time was a bit overwhelming but she worked thru it pretty well getting better as the day went on.

Sheldon and Brad ran to Okotoks to grab teas and Edo for a late lunch.. at like 3 tailgate around the smarty car! Britt missed as she was umping, Shaina had umped earlier when I goal waived and the boys ran to town.

The girls played A opposite my D games which made it good for Sheldon and Brad watching but did not allow for me to take any photos of play. Sheldon captured the photos over the w/e, (almost 300 but pared them down) thank you Prince.

The day got much warmer and no wind mid afternoon and was fabulous. We enjoyed supper catered by Opa and a short visit before loading the horses and heading home at 7:30 as the sun was setting and temperatures were quickly dropping. No sleeping in the trailer tonight. The horses were happy to roam and eat to their hearts content back home too. Unpack, hot showers and some Game of Thrones rounded out the full day.

Drizzly morning again, hope they are correct the sun comes out later and is nice all w/e as we have our final tournament happening. Day 5 with no coffee, today was monk's blend tea to start the day. The accent table was the project of the morning giving it dark wax definition.

But after lunch about 1:30 the sun started to peek out and by 2:30 it was about 15 so Britt and I headed out to ride, she took KD along as well. What a beauty day and inspiration for the upcoming w/e. Sheldon pulled in after 4, certainly not early for a Friday but home none the less.

First day of fall and the furnace goes on

Grab a chai tea and get scrubbing the small table I recently bought, while it dried it was time to finish up the dresser.

I assembled the handles back on, of course had to paint one another coat of gold and the cranberry one too but eventually they were all back on and hauled the whole thing inside myself to stage.

Now the staging process did not go quite as planned and many hours and pictures were spent working on it. It does however get allot of your decor dusted and moved about in search of the right pieces ;)

 I did take a break between starting the now dry table.

2nd coat goes on

As I stopped for a quick bite just before 1 it started to rain. Britt arrived home around 2 as I was looking for more staging items and finally after hours of trying to get the money shot I scored and had one by 3.. wow!

I finally cratered and turned the furnace on about the same time. The day's high was around 12. Britt has been feeling sick the last few days so curled up in bed for afternoon. Sheldon said he felt sick when he got home at 5 so supper plans changed to homemade cabbage roll soup. Britt however was off before 6 to have supper with Josh and his family. he is down on a game tour but may have a broken wrist so got to got home for a couple hours. She was lucky her classes were not on tomorrow and had her home tonight.

The soup was the perfect food for today followed with a new series pilot for Pitch and an episode of Game of Thrones. Britt was back home after 9 and hunkered down for some well needed rest.

paint it cranberry/gold

Time to get back to work on the dresser, the ultra grip had to dry 12 hours but why did I not do the gold? That is where I started this morning, tape off the areas and get spray painting gold. Luckily it was a not bad day so the garage door could be open for ventilation as there was lots of gold to be done.

 

then time to start the cranberry, the paint process continued thru the day for 3 more coats to get a deep rich color. The gold was the same but by the end of the day all were done, 

now to decide on the handles, the dark wood behind the brass handle, what color should it be?
