another crazy day

At 5:15 I was awoke to chairs bouncing across the deck and thunder rolling, soon rain started. I had left garage window open as so hot in there for the dogs so closed it, let Lola out and put Coco in her kennel. Sheldon was up after 8, getting Lexi and putting her and Coco out and throwing on coffee.

Shaina was to be at work by 8 but it seems she had heritage days flu. Kaylin and Brad were up not feeling the best either but all chuckling at poor miss Dudie Ralph pants. She did however head to work after 9. Brad kindly took Shaina's black dresser back to the city with him and Kaylin not long after she left.

Sheldon enjoyed his coffee on the deck again. Britt and I headed out to hose Shiloh and give him his injection. Sharon stopped on her way home from the parade with Vaseline and bute which Britt gave him and put on.

Time to get ready now and head to town after 12 to get seated for today's rodeo. It was another scorcher at 25 but there was an occasional very welcome breeze.Sadly Shelby did not win rodeo queen but she sure looked awesome and did well.

Today's performance went longer with more things so there was not much time between it and the evening performance. Sheldon and I hustled back to the car for me to change into jeans and boots but I had just the thin tank top. This turned out to be a bad idea. Set up went super well but it was not long and the blue skies turn black.. And as much as the announcer said it would pass in 20, it did not. Instead it unleashed wind then a rain cloud that eventually drove us to huddle on the south side of a horse trailer or under the chutes or behind the scissor lift. The buckets of rain started to form puddles so they chose to cancel running of the bulls for the first time ever and wild pony races but planned to have chucks at 7:15. As it eased up a bit, I suggested we do the take down now rather then wait and by a miracle the rain let up. The crew once again efficiently took it down and again the rain started up. We all headed to the volunteer shack for a hot coffee/tea and beef on bun.

Britt, Sheldon and I sloshed to the car and drove home where there was only 2/10ths of rain and some blue sky.. Of course. Sheldon who was soaked hit the couch in his fuzzy housecoat while Britt and I went out to give Shiloh his 2nd shot and give him a walk in the arena and apply more Vaseline . Not long later Sharon, Stan, Shelby, Ted, Grace all stopped to see the big guy.

Josh came out to pick up Britt and they were off to the cabaret by 10. Time to shower off another days worth of sunscreen and dirt then jump in my comfy bed and tell you a story of our days. I even caught a Good wife episode before running to town to pick up Britt at 1! Of course it started to rain again lightly as we drove home.

Friday, first day of vacation for Sheldon started with coffee on the deck. He went to push stuff around in the pit while I put black wax on a couple drawers, not sure if I am loving it so stopped there and will see when dry.

Sheldon, Britt and I loaded up and were off to town, I had a lab appointment just before noon which was quick and easy. We grabbed Opa and headed to the grounds. Seeing it was Friday and we were early we got seats right at the top of the bleachers and luckily brought an umbrella cause it was smoking hot. Car said 29 but house said 26.

After the rodeo, Josh, Jayden and Shane helped us move the panels all ready for tomorrow. THANKS fellows, that was awesome help. On our way out we heard Prism rehearsing for tonight's concert, they sounded good.

Home by 4:30, time for cold beverage before Shaina arrived after 5. She and I headed out for a ride on KD, Baby and Daisy. Going thru the hay field we rustled up a ton of mozzies so retreated to barn for spray and went out again. I was just finishing hosing Daisy when my first customers rolled in to pick up their 2 new dressers and chair and drop off a coffee table to custom paint. Sheldon helped get loaded up then brought Shaina and I a cold beer as we trimmed KD up.

As we were finishing up, Kaylin and Brad rolled in. Sheldon and Kaylin headed to town for a supper date and Brad joined us. He is just home from a week long motorbike trip to the States. He and I visited about the trip while Shaina showered up and soon they were off to town to celebrate a birthday and visit friends just after 8.  Sheldon dropped Kaylin at Gail's and picked up Britt from the grounds after chuckwagons and got here about 9:30. Britt fed Bird as I was chillaxing with a headache on my bed. Sheldon was hoping to head back to the concert but I felt crappy so jumped into  the shower. As I did, my phone rang so he answered. Sharon was on the phone asking if Shiloh could stay in the stall tonight as had a wreck at the grounds. Dr Ty was stitching him up as she was calling.

Sheldon and I headed out and created a window grate, got it affixed, got fresh water and everything set for his arrival. Britt and Sheldon practiced a bit of catch while we waited, Krista and Brennan stopped to wait too. They pulled just before 11 and got him unloaded and into the stall. Brennan's took the grandparents home to Stouts while Krista stayed with Sharon to sort out drugs and instructions finally heading home before midnight. Britt headed to town for a birthday party now that her patient had settled in. My sleep was not to be sound with Kaylin, Shaina and Brad getting home before 1:30 then Britt around 2:30..I looked at clock at 3:30 last I remember, what an action packed day!

Last day of work for Sheldon for a 10 day vacation stretch, pretty sure I heard him skipping off to his ride! I however was wide awake tat 6:30.. why?? But you have to love the long summer days, still light at 10 pm is nice.

I moved my car out to stage the dresser as it is going home today along with the smaller dresser and blue chair.

I hauled the tall sanded dresser around to car spot and scrubbed it up and while it dried I updated all my blog posts. One is for the white dresser above. Britt rode KD for Shaina and ponied poor still off Bird when only 24 and before heading to the city to meet Shaina. Did I tell you it hit 28 yesterday?? well it is that in my garage as I am painting as I am doing laundry and have the dryer going.. Diego doesn't mind.. what a dog.

I painted the dresser body at 1 as Britt was off to the city. Like yesterday I am moving water around the yard. I did however break one of my sprinklers, booo!

The drawer fronts got painted then I headed out in the 25 sunshine, caught baby and trimmed her feet. This led to push mowing around the garden shed and poop pick up for mowing. Then watering the flower beds which led to pulling spent flowers which led to dumping d's pool, cleaning and refilling. Britt rolled in at 4 while I was doing this and Sheldon about 15 minutes later. Time for a cold beer.

Britt eventually drug herself out to ride Baby for Shaina (in exchange for shampoo), I hauled the full wheelbarrow to the pit and Sheldon started mowing. It was a good thing he followed my suggestion of heat vs mosquitoes because by 6:30 the weather got dark and by 7:30 just after he was done the rain rolled in. It did change the furniture pickup plans but oh well,we need the rain.

After her ride, Britt ran to town for a spray tan while I threw pizza in Since it was raining, a hot bath sounded good then I changed for fresh sheets, what a great feeling. Sheldon checked before he jumped in the tub before 9 when it let up and there was 1.5/10ths but it did start up again as he drifted off into a deep slumber at 9.
