man's night #2.. ok man day!

Saw the sunrise today as up at 7 am, Sheldon however slept till I woke him at 10 after a restless return to night shift pattern. I had a busy day starting with coffee and a quick marketing check then off to the garage. The wagon shelf had blue added to the wheels and the final coats of poly added, reassembled, left to dry and once dry staged and the blog wrote up!

The dresser had all hardware secured, the right side repainted and waxed twice. I managed to rustle Sheldon to screw new holes for the new knobs, he also helped me carry in the base, thanks heh! He showered and headed to the city around 12:30 to try and contest his speeding ticket, do a few errands and have another mens' night, tonight is the Flames game.

Once dresser was inside and I hauled in all the drawers, the staging started but of course it found some more work. Another drawer needed gluing and the drawer edges needed another coat of paint and 2 more wax. But once all dry it is READY!

The skiff of parchment color left in the can called for a small project so I searched and chose a dark salt and pepper set. It got 2 coats of paint and a good distressing before the wax steps.

Our super egg lady dropped off 10 doz, pizzelles are in order for me, Easter eggs for you AJ? Blogs and kijiji require a second round of coffee. My Facebook page hit 2,222 liker/followers, great number!

Craig stopped to grab eggs and have a quick visit as I contemplated how I am going to makeover my chairs for March Fab Flip contest.

Boring bologna roll for supper, finished up the blogs and posts for the day so think I shall go have a bath or curl up for some Netflix till the Prince arrives home from his city day/ Flames game venture

town run & man night

Sheldon threw on a pot of coffee before he headed out the door to drop his truck off to be detailed (Thanks Ma & Pa). I got ready and headed in after to pick him up at Tims where he had me a tea ;) and we ran a couple errands.. found heavy metal road marker stakes.. this should stop people from driving on the edges and one actually thru the curve ditch!

He waited outside in the sunshine at my Dr appt which was another long wait. Once finally done it was time to pick up his truck. He stopped for groceries while I returned home to do accounting until he arrived for a late lunch. He took to a nap while I ventured out to work on projects. He did get up and rolled out a bale, the horses however had other plans and headed out to the lawn where the dogs and I had to hustle them back into the nuclear pasture.  He then headed off on Men's "date" night before 5, dropping a bag of trash at the dump. Not a bad day for the Prince hahaha

I managed to get a 4 coats of poly on the dresser top, wax up the hardware and set in place, paint another coat of tropical cocktail, poly 2 coats and start spray painting the wheels white. Prince requested supper at 7:30 but there seemed to be a time change between town and home as he arrived at 8:30 to eat ;)  We tried starting a new series White Collar but he was soon asleep so I just read.

Did you see the full moon last night? Crystal clear night here at the ranch, it glowed brightly.

The dog alarm went off just before 8. I had a great start to the day being tagged on FB I had won a giveaway from Chantelle for Arbonne eye shadow and liner, thanks Huddy for drawing my name!

Back to work on the dresser, hardware sprayed a couple more times with some dimension added

Sheldon was home just before noon, read his 1 piece of mail and headed to bed. I continued work on the dresser putting 2 coats of wax on and buffing well. I had contemplated doing the wooden wagon traditional red but in the end choose Amanda's top pick of tropical cocktail and white.

When he got up around 4:30 it was time for a beer and visit while cooking up the scrumptious steak supper. It is good to have the full meals for the week he is home, even B and I make simple light meals occasionally ;) A nice hot bath and finishing Bloodline's last episode in season 1 rounded out the night. He could not even stay awake for his Flame's game.. Hard travel day you know ;)

What an odd night, I was getting sleepy and shut off Downton at 9:30 but then only rested, not quite asleep. Sheldon called to say hi just after 10. I then started running the lack of attendance and sales through my mind for hours and how to move more pieces.. the last time I saw was after 4 am ;( but awoke to the deep bark of D at 8. The sun was shining and I feel lucky I have the space to store my finished treasures.. and like the gorgeous dresser, the right buyer WILL come along ;)

So time to keep creating, back to sanding the top of the dresser but that lacquer is just to thick, time to pull out the big guns.. stripper. After making a trip to the shop to retrieve said loaned tools to the hide process (and checked it, all good) I got a pile of the dreaded lacquer off. Then another couple hours sanding the edges off and smoothing entire surface. After all this, I have to stain the top.. so the classic go to dark brown stain top and cream base or black stain top and color??

 yep that little sanded area was all after a few hours.. bring in the stripper

 and chisel

 and fill a box

and many hours later.. wallaaa

More wiping, scrubbing and sanding, sticker removal yet again then the first coat of paint went on all drawer fronts.

As it dries, I scrubbed up 2 new shelf projects and once dry I gave the dark one a fresh shabby chic coat of white while catching up with Ellen.

then it was back out to the garage to condition the dresser top and stain and put 2nd coat on the drawer fronts and wax the little shabby shelf. 

 stain on left conditioned wood right, then all wiped back below.. now to dry 72 hours

along with setting an auction for the little cabinet, let's see if there is any auction interest.

 The shiny gold hardware got some coats added too

and new knobs will be added on center drawers as the one is missing the handle ;(

I do think now it is time for a hot tub and try and get some sleep ;) peace out all!
