snow returns

It looked to be lightly snowing when I shut lights out last night around midnight and this morning I awoke to everything covered in fluffy snow. The low was only -2 which is perfect. Big D has been acting a bit off and this am he seemed to have had a bit more incontinence then normal, RVT in training B suggested a UTI so I began treatments thru the day of apple cider vinegar to help it out if this was what was ailing him.

The March Fab Furniture Flip contest had an opening I was offered so I had to figure what I could come up with for a Mix & Match furniture project using upholstery foam. Finally I went with a high end chair makeover and got my supply list sorted. Next order of business, more sanding on the chair base while watching another MAM

By noon it hit 0 and soon after the sun began to burn thru. It warmed up to 2 so Britt caught Bird and Pepper. She and I rode in the arena and then headed out in the sunshine. Lola came along but once back, horses dried and released we got the other 3 and gave all 4 dogs a nice short walk. Short because miss Lexi is not the best off leash dog and is far to fast ;)

By now it is almost 5 so time to whip up a quick hamburger and get Britt on the road. As we were finishing up the fog started to roll in and fast. B left at 5:45 but called at Langdon overpass on hwy #1 half hour later saying it was crazy fog so turning around. She was back home by 6:45 and it was all clear but rolled in again at 7:45.. crazy fog. She hunkered down after making a pan of brownies, staying the night and will leave early in the AM.

I finished Making a Murderer while sourcing Pinterest ideas...hmmm. Shaina had reported earlier this afternoon the storm had ended and then had gotten out to do sightseeing before their concert tonight, yay!

NYC gets shut down

Seems my evening last night was spent watching Netflix and chatting via instant messaging with Shaina in NYC. It was 2 am EST and she was at a Starbucks for wifi. Aaron had arrived safe and had come to walk her back to the hotel at 2:30, thanks Aaron! Did I mention poor Brad had his flight and back up flight both cancelled as he worked Friday so was leaving later? He is not missing the shit weather but would be handy to have along as he has been to NYC 2X before. I eventually got to sleep with the serenade of snores from my roomies.

Kaylin messaged in the am that NYC was being hit by one of the top 5 snow storms in history with an estimated snow fall of 20" today!! WHAT, and even though I did ask if they checked weather forecast and she said -1, neither took winter boots so hoofing it thru the streets is going to be a bit chilly even for these tough Canadian girls. Britt was up and off for her 10 am massage then to work at the gym 11:30-4!

I staged and posted the jewelry box.

Time to get the bright blue chair finished up with black glaze then brought inside to dry and snap few pics of new items.

I spent the rest of my day and I mean most of it dissembling the chair and sanding it down to bare wood.. here goes .. Oh I tried to watch Making a Murderer while doing so but had to quit as sander to loud and show so slow

The snow continues to melt with a high of plus 3 (hit 6 in the city), meanwhile in NYC the girls are basically at a standstill, Broadway is shut down as are many stores including Starbucks if you can believe. However there seems to have been a tattoo place open ...

Britt grabbed a few groceries on her way home from work. She and I both enjoyed a quiet "show" night. I watched Scandal in a hot tub then tried a few more Making a Murderer..only 4 more hours to go ;/

chinook melts much snow

Seems the temperature was PLUS 3 all night and I heard the dripping in the evestroughs thru the night to confirm. By morning the snow had sunk and bare patches emerging, this is only bad part of nice weather, crappy looking yard and muddy dogs.

I put another couple coats of poly on the jewel box and started waxing the bright blue chair. A fellow dropped off a dining table he was tossing, there is some damage so will see about fixing or just reusing the legs and maybe top.

I staged another pictures of the old Chesapeake blue chair to add to the paint rep blog post, then spent time finishing it and doing some more marketing.

Amanda tagged me in a free dresser post but has to be picked up today. Well I guess since plus 6 today would be an OK day :) I also bought a chair so will pick it up too. Before I headed to town I black glazed the jewel box to give dimension. Load up the trash and off I went. After dumping the trash and fetching the mail I ventured thru Tim's for a hot tea and perused thru Rona. Here I stocked up on a few things I needed and few I did not, like chevron frog tape ;) I quickly loaded up the dresser and chair before making my way home. (pictures tomorrow) However I got sidetracked to the new home decor store where I found yet another bird cage. Yes I love wire bird cages ;)

I got home about 4:30 just before Britt pulled in. After she unloaded her laundry and treasures she helped me unload the dresser. In return I made us nachos for supper, HA!

Britt hit the TV room to catch up on all her PVR shows from the last 2 weeks while I worked on the blog and putting hardware back on jewel box. (Pictures tomorrow in better lighting) Kaylin messaged at 7:30 they made it safe and sound to NYC hotel after trudging 20 blocks from the train station in the snow. Sounds like NYC is a bit brisk tonight ;)

chinook rolls in

Seeing the Schitt's creek episodes are only 21 minutes long I did watch a couple more after I posted last night, still not sure about it but do have a few chuckles. Diego decided it was time to get up at 7 today, bugger.

It did help paint project progress. The chair I scrubbed thinking I would do in the new purple had a last minute change to my very first chalk paint color, confidence. I put 2 coats on planning to keep it fairly solid in color as this will really be a statement piece.

The jewel box got 2 coats of the new sugar plum, again opting for solid after trying a distressed look.

I did head out in the plus 2 weather and put away the washed up horse blanket and Christmas greeting sign as well as snapping a few pictures of the panther for Sheldon. Seems without anyone riding it, space could be better used so it will be put up for sale ;(

The egg lady delivered 9 doz eggs, next month the price goes up to $3/doz due to increase in chicken food. Still not bad for free range eggs as others including neighbor Matt sell for $4-5/doz already. Kaylin joined me for supper and quick visit, dropping Grand-dogger Lexi off while she and Shaina visit New York City this w/e.

I put first coat of poly on the jewel box then retreated to my bed with cuddle buddy Lex to continue my Netflix shows. Looks like the chinook is here for a bit, still plus 2 when I shut the lights off.
