dresser and jewelry frame finished

Monday November 24th all ready, a month till Xmas eve!! I was up by 7:30, feeding puppies and polying a drawer again all before 8. Britt headed off to school and it was not long before my jewel frame customer arrived with the material to finish it up. I spent the next two hours measuring and cutting and ironing and getting a blister from stubborn cup hooks not wanting to screw in but in the end the frame was so pretty. It will last for many years, she can add more hooks, paint another color over the red or even change the material, so many options.

I barely finished, snapped a few pictures, loaded it and a bag for Shaina  before racing to town to meet Sheldon who Shaina brought to town for her 11 am work start. We enjoyed an infared sauna for the next half hour! As I dropped the bag to Shaina she says only one shoe. Britt and Grady happened to be at home for spare and retraced the steps there, no luck, I scoured the truck, no shoe. We got a tea, dropped the frame off then washed the truck before heading home. At home I continued the shoe search letting Shaina know, it was NOT there and to look again in the bag, yep sure enough it was in the darn bag all along!!

A quick shower to remove all sweated out contaminants and a bite for lunch before I headed out to put another pol coat on the dresser drawer. Accounting, putting away shopping & tools before I took the dogs for a walk. Sheldon went over to Matt's to get some old barn wood he had for me after his nap. He also checked out Xmas lights but found bulbs burnt out and gave up on that task so rolled out a bale.

A yummy spaghetti and meatball supper caused for a full tummy, off to stretch out and watch some shows. We again tried True Detective but this time I was falling asleep. Thinks this one is a no. So we tried SOA season 6 and easily watched 2 episodes. Britt was home from work after school around 9:30, ate supper and headed to her room.

w/e projects

Saturday the chinook continued but today was overcast and windy. Britt and I took the dogs on a perimeter walk again while Sheldon went over to Matt's for a coffee and sell some tickets.

Back at the ranch I put a 2nd coat on the dresser top and legs before neighbor Elaine arrived to pick up her s&p shakers she ordered.

After lunch I put the first coat of poly on the dresser, sprayed frame hooks, tidied my work space. Britt hung out in the basement all day in front of the TV and playing Sims! Sheldon spent the day configuring the barn layout and changes (pretty hard day) ;-)

A barbecued steak supper was enjoyed before movies night. We watched Blended and American Hustle hitting the hay at midnight.

Sunday I was up at 8 to a whining puppy. Out she went then breakfast for all while I put a 2nd coat of poly on the dresser. Vacuum quick and get dressed for a customer/old neighbor was stopping by to pick up a chair and have a visit checking out the new things on the ranch. Sheldon gave him a tour of the shop too. The weather continues to be mild for November hovering around zero hitting high of 2 today but the wind had bite.

We loaded Kaylin's birthday present from last year and her Christmas tree up and we were off to the city delivering to her house. I attempted to put her fancy new knobs on but some need to be cut. We cut time close dropping Sheldon at a bar to join his friends for the western finals football game then rushing to the theater. Sadly there was only front seats left and the next showing made Kaylin feel to close to her meeting at 6 so we did not see Mocking Jay in the end :(

We did spend an hour looking for boots Britt has been trying to buy for a couple weeks now but like the movie, no such luck. The two city dwellers were not pleased with us country folk searching so we dropped them back at home and ventured to my favorite store, Home Sense where Britt found part of her Christmas present and I scored another glass bowl and throw I do not need but rather love, and she scored the most unique laptop bag (another Christmas gift early) at the cool country interior store. We also hit winners and shoe warehouse too but no boots there ;(

By now it was 5:30 and sustenance needed so we grabbed a quick Vietnamese supper and stopped at Superstore in search of the elusive popcorn I got as a gift last year. Again no luck but we did score candy cane ice cream!!! Time to grab a hot tea and head to the ranch to let puppies out. Sheldon is staying overnight with the girls in the city.

While Britt did that and I unloaded, it was time to check dresser, a wee mark drove me crazy so I sanded and repainted that drawer and added another coat of poly to the top before coming in. Time to update blog, play a few brain gyming games and shop online a bit before calling it quits.

perimeter walks start

Friday is another beauty day, still in the above 0 temps in the day with tons of sunshine which makes it even better. I worked on dark waxing the two salt and pepper sets, waxing back of jewelry frame then distressing the Xmas frame while Sheldon rolled out a bale and fixed the center pole on the new horse shed.

The chinook sunshine called for a full perimeter walk with the dogs, it was lovely other than trying not to roll your ankle in the newly ripped up areas. The snow though soft was still deceivingly deep in many areas.  Sheldon was rolling up the old barb wire as we passed him to complete the circuit. It was then time for the dreaded poop scoop!

I was finishing up as Britt and Grady rolled in. They made lunch, ok Britt made canned soup but at least on her own then actually cleaned her room and dishwasher before they headed back to school just before 1. Soon after the delivery truck arrived with the barn wood.

I buffed the S&P and staged for a couple pictures, they are ready to go. The jewelry frame is buffed to awaiting the customer's fabric choice. Sheldon took off hunting around the area. I started sand, repair and scrub a tall dresser I have ordered from my stock. She wanted green but after the color we planned seemed more blue I gave her more options, end result, tumbleweed :-) I also came up with a great idea using a dresser base and new casters I had laying around. Together they will make a great moving paint podium.

After supper I had Sheldon help me get the casters screwed the holes I drilled on my project (Thanks Prince) then I put first coat of paint on the tall dresser and sprayed hardware.. Shaina stopped out to meet Lola and have a quick visit. She headed home just before 9 and soon after Britt was home from work then working out. I put the 2nd coat on the dresser and hardware while Britt played with the dogs. We came in at 10:30 and she gave Coco a long needed bath!

hunting & Lola's first trip to town

Thursday Nov 20th, yikes. Britt had a spare but was up early as Brooke is giving her gel nails ( a few a day thru the week) for her cosmo project. She spent a bit of time with miss Lola and the gang before heading out. Sheldon loaded up and was off hunting with his buddy Steve around 9:30. A fellow arrived to buy the funky table. All went as planned so helped him load up and off he went.

Time for Diego's cartrophen shot! Seeing the weather was again above freezing I took the horses apples and introduced Lola to the herd. She was nervous but calm and quiet letting them sniff her up. I then took the pack for their first walk. It was a ton of fun for them all. We venture the west perimeter and while passing Julio, he decided to tag along. No matter the direction he followed so eventually we ended back at the hop and threw out a bale. The others of course were in usual we want but cant get over this fence. I tried a couple times to lure them around, while trying to keep the 3 dogs close and soon it was also the cats! Finally I put a string around Baby and with Lola at my left side and Baby on the right we got them moving the right way again, finally once close to the far gate the rest took the right path and off they all went to join Julio at the buffet.

Switch says "I know the short cut, let me out the gate here" sorry it is getting snow bound so keep practicing your podium stance on this hard snow drift

By now it was just after 12 so I hurriedly put the first coat of wax on the pieces before getting ready to head to town. I loaded up Miss Lola and off we went fetching Britt from school who was dying to accompany us to the vet. Lola loved Dr Jodi and got her shots and dewormer like nothing happened. We made a quick stop to see Cara our groomer and she gave us great tips and a demo as to how to care for her long hair. Her next viewing was to Sharon and Coreena before a quick stop to see Asher and Ada. One more people stop, Brooke who skipped out of class to go "to the bathroom", hahaha. Britt loaded up and was off to work as her class was nearly done.

Lola and I went to Tims for lunch finally, a quick stop at the bank and Walmart to grab some chew toys and corn oil for big D's poor coat. Finally it was time to head south. Back at the ranch, I unloaded puppy and goods then worked on pictures. Supper break for the puppies had me buffing the waxed pieces and waxing the bottoms as well as touching up paint on the frames.

Britt worked at the gym after school and Sheldon messaged he was not home for supper so it was me, a cold beer, organic corn chips and the blog and reposting pieces on Kijiji :-) I need to move this hutch to put up a Christmas tree hahaha
