Fog and blog progress

The fog continued thru the night making for tons of hoar frost everywhere. The sun was out with dogs fed and coffee time in bed. I snapped photos of the ruler after paper bag sanding it ready to go. S had cereal quick then loaded the ruler and skates up and was off to town. He kindly is dropping the ruler off on his way to public skating. There is no shinny this week which has him discombobulated. He also needed to source fuel hose and handle.

Already warming up and losing frost but still pretty

I edited and loaded photos for another blog post: the Paetz game night, published it and started on another. The frost is dripping and dropping so I took the dogs for a walk hoping to get some photos before it was gone. The stack of boxes were hauled out for a gal to pick up. She was selective in ones she took as moving to England leaving a pile still. These may go to recycling now they are moved out.

S was back at noon for leftover bison lunch. I had a follow-up doctor appointment via phone. This is another positive side of covid. Quick calls that save driving, sitting and waiting and less germ exposure at dr offices. It is now plus 3 and hitting 4 and almost all the frost is gone.

The first truck load of fuel arrived. All went well. Once back in he hit the couch for a nap in the sunshine. I was back to blogging and photo sorting. Holy cow it is a bit confusing with so many devices with photos. Trying to make sure the new iMac has current ones as well as backing up old computer and phone on the external hard drive as well as online one drive. I published Christmas Eve post before 6 while S played solitaire and watched his Flames.

B arrived just as I was taking the salmon out. A salad was made and we all enjoyed a most tasty supper. B went out to feed Bird. She is not feeling well with others sick at work. Mom has been sick as well and now Travis too. Boo! We had our usual hot tub soak after the Flames won! Then started up the Car Masters series on Netflix.

We were fogged in this am again. The prince slept in late today. I delivered a cup of coffee to his nightstand at 9:30 but he had to heat it after 10 when he got up. After feeding H and J, I started clear coating the ruler. I was then on to getting a blog post published. B dropped Cooper off before 11 on her way to the city. The ruler had another coat on top and just before we left I flipped it over to do the back and bring inside to dry well in the warmer house. Har's dog food was delivered early, perfect as I could get it put in freezer before we left.

I made us a spinach salad for lunch before we set off at 12:30. S hopped out at his dr appointment and I checked out 3 thrift stores in search of the elusive 16” glass microwave tray. I found lots from small to 14” but no 16".

We stopped at Chinook mall after I picked him up to see abut exchanging a wallet he got 2 of. No luck at this store with limited men’s stuff. Our next stop was Costco. This took awhile checking out vacuum sealers and Apple products. Of course there were cheaper ones than we bought but they are an older model for computer and limited colors in watches. We also picked up some lobster and shrimp for a belated NYE supper.

We were home before 5:30. Britt was back and had fed her horse and the dogs and was relaxing. She ate some leftover pizza and was off. S unloaded the car while I contacted Amazon. Shaina found a cell phone when she picked up our parcel last Friday. They are getting in touch with the driver.

We cooked up the shrimp with garlic, a salad and rice to start. The lobster tails were done a bit later. All was very tasty. A great New Years celebration just a few days late. Followed by a hot tub of course. Then it was quiet time reading. I am reading a new book called the Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. I ordered it having read her other book on aging. S continues on his.

Shaina and Matt for Supper

Today is another blog post by guest writer Sheldon :)

Awoke about 8 ish.  Coffee in bed to start the day.  Sheldon finished the huge crossword while watching the US and Latvia Hockey Game.  Canada lost early early 3-2 to Chez so they are eliminated.

LA working on finishing details for a growth ruler required by Friday.  Sheldon took the dogs for a walk before heading to town.  Groceries for supper and a quick stop at the Thrift store.  Once home LA continued to work on the ruler.  Nice sunny sky out until 4:20 and it immediately fogged over.  Crazy!

My additions are ..

First thing I did was touch base with Apple. I had questions on the USB ports listed when I purchased. It turns out the was a bit of confusion with he sales guy who kindly offered the adapter to hook OG USB devices up. I up graded it to a numeric keyboard which I was missing from the basic one I ordered. I posted another blog post: Mom's birthday. I stained the ruler back and left to dry.

LOOK at my orchid!! This was worth waiting 2 years.

After home from town I brought the ruler in and stenciled the ruler then hand painted the name. This was after trying to source an old John Deere font to do Lincoln’s name in. So close to done just in time for his birthday this w/e. A bison rib roast was put in the instant pot. S prepped potatoes and carrots to go in part way. Another blog post- photo scans started was published.

S started a fire when Shaina and Matt arrived after 6:30. B arrived soon after as I made the spinach salads. We started with that. Tasty!! Followed by the sliced roast, veggies and gravy I made in the pot too. We taught Matt how to play call partner smear. After it was over they headed home after 9:30 in the fog. Britt fed Bird then she and Cooper were off at 10. I touched up the ruler all ready for clear coat in the am.

Happy New Years 2024

January 1, 2024, hello new year. I got to work catching up on sharing the coffee table tutorial I did last week. Britt and her pets arrived. Once up from a good long sleep S made coffee. He spent the morning reading his book. I moved on to the blog. It took all morning to get the photos from others edited and added to just 1post. Then it was on to accounting.

I went to start the custom ordered ruler but found there was a chipped out area that needed filling and may need to dry overnight before staining. The edges were power sanded and the surfaces hand sanded. S took out trash and bottles and washed up the pet dishes in the garage. B fed her horse, bathed Cooper and cleaned out her car. She then took Gully back to Grady's and to have a nap.

Time to take down the Christmas tree and few decorations, vacuum and move things back to normal. Dog food was ordered. S ran the tree and front door decor back to the shop mez. He rolled a bale for the horses too. He then worked on a crossword in front of a fire. The ruler board was stained on the front side after sanding the repaired areas. The dresser I started back in November was sanded and had areas wood filled as well. 

B was back at 6. S cooked up steak, I threw fries in air fryer. Frozen broccoli was nuked. B washed the dishes then was off. I got back to working on blog posts posting 3 today- days with dad linked above, palliative care move, and saddest day ever. So many to go: 21 to be exact. I shut down my computer work at 8 and headed out for a hot tub soak. The stars were out in full force. S jumped in as I was getting out. Showered it was time to relax in bed with some Netflix. S was back to his full page crossword by the fire before heading to bed.
