Desk painted black

Sleep, rise, repeat ;) While Harley ate I sanded the brush marks on the desk top then we headed in for cappuccino and marketing. The kittens were let out and I found Shaina up doing her Monday check ins and was not pleased as the internet started to act up so I made my first call to provider. I was assured it might just be an electrical flicker dropping service. 

I went out and painted the first coat of black on the desk finishing up at 1 coming in for lunch. Kaylin and Shaina were doing their thing but the internet was once again down so another 45 minute wait. Just as this call ended the entire network went down with no coming back up so back on hold for yet another 30+ minute hold.

While on hold I finished a second coat on parts on the desk. I managed to get the second agent on the 3rd call. She confirmed that indeed a tower issue just came thru and they were now working on it. Three people running a business online sure finds how much they rely on it when it is gone. Kaylin and I played some Skip Bo before I headed out to toss a bale for the horses and take H and the 2 wee kitties for a walk. My new year goals is to try and get her one walk a day in. It was a brisk plus one out there with an overcast and breeze so it was only about 20 minutes. I fed and put the kitties away before coming in.

Back inside another game of Skip Bo with K as I cooked spaghetti and meat sauce for supper. Shaina finished up and joined us. The internet was finally back up around 6:30. B text if I had supper made but she is not a spaghetti fan however she was hungry enough she took me up on it arriving before 7:30 as usual. She did not stay long after eating. S & K were off to work out later while I finished up online then headed to bed to finish season one of The Boys and start season 2. I did take a break after finishing season 1 to join the girls for their yoga cool down. Sheldon arrived home before 11 and he too finished the spaghetti and meat sauce before hitting the sheets.

Supper at the B's

UGH, the chinook winds HOWLED all night even waking me at 2. I let Harley out as she was moving around a bit so to be sure her tummy was not upset sent her out. I was then awake for hours. I listened to a meditation session, a sleep cast then a 3 hour sleep music. The chair on the deck made a banging noise in the hurricane winds and finally at 5:30 I went out and laid it down. I think then I fell asleep only to awake at the usual 7 am. Drats.

I clear coated the drawer fronts while H ate breakfast then did the top inside as the cap machine heated up. Time to catch up the blog and do marketing. I wrote a tutorial for the mug tree. H and I let the cats out after 9. The wind had finally let up and was plus 3. Poop scooping quick before back into carry on with marketing.

I hauled in the drawers, buffed the scrubbed hardware and set up a few staging photos. 

The vanity buyers arrived around 11, loaded in short order and on their way. I then headed to the garage to clean and wood fill the custom desk job. Leaving it to dry and seeing the sun was out in full force Harley and I went for a walk at noon. The cats joined in too of course. Perfect half hour walk that had me removing winter wear all along the way as so lovely out even only PLUS 2 but no wind and full sun.

I was finishing the Chinese food after 2 when Britt and Cooper came out. She fed Bird then was off to meet a friend in Airdrie to give sunglasses forgotten at her house. On her way she returned my Amazon parcels and picked up a new package full of hardware for me as well as took a return to HomeSense as she was doing a few returns while at Cross Iron. THANK B!! She also invited us all for supper tonight at her house.

The desk was then completely painted with a grip product seeing it is a laminate surface. This product needs to dry at least 12 hours so done working on it for the day. Time to get some accounting done. I had a post ready to put on at 5 but headed out and put the cats away and forgot to post it. I gathered some of the kale salad ingredients to take to B's, loaded up Harley and we headed to town. I swung by grocery store to grab more kale with no luck. At B's I chopped radishes and roasted the corn. K and S arrived at 6:30 from the city. K mixed up the salad dressing, B cut the roast and we enjoyed a yummy delicious meal. THANKS B!! This was followed by a card game K got for Xmas called Skip Bo. The dogs had a great time as well making for a full gathering in this lockdown bubble. 

We finished up after 8:30. K and S headed to get a snojoe on the way home and I a tea. There was a big accident at the hwy1/817 lights causing us all to detour home. Back at the ranch I posted my forgotten post then headed to bed to watch The Boys. The other two were off chattering in the basement.

Double birthdays

Double birthdays today on the Walker side, Asher turns 10 and Mya 12. Happy cake day!! XOXO The wind had settled it seemed now as I let H out to pee and around to eat. I sanded the whitewashed surfaces while she did so. Inside I got my cappuccino and marketing addressed. H and I let the kitties out quick before I was back to work painting in the garage. Shaina was up for a 10 am meeting making a cap after I popped in to make a 2nd one. I started with one color of white then changed my mind on the dresser body as too bright.

I was just starting the new white when a customers dad dropped off her huge desk for custom painting. Yikes it is a pile of parts and MDF but I will do my best. Kaylin was up now and watched Harley while we unloaded it all.

Back to the dresser; the first coat of white was brushed on and sanded when dry. I stopped to eat leftover Chinese for lunch then back out to put a second coat on. Britt and Cooper were out at 1 to get sugaring done and feed Bird. She was off after 2. The top and drawers were clear coated next and the white all waxed. As everything dried I came in to catch up the blog while Shaina took Harley for a walk in the  blustery sunshiny plus 5!

I added a second clear coat to dresser surfaces and when dry Kaylin helped me carry the body inside. I put away Cooper's pen and vacuumed the main floor. Shaina helped me carry the vanity upstairs after I put all the hardware on and found new screws for the mirror. I got it all at the door ready for pickup tomorrow morning and covered with a blanket to make it slime proof. The girls and Lexi headed to the city at 5 for the night.

I put the kitties away, changed out of my painting clothes and headed to town around 6. Harley is having her first stay in the house unattended free roaming. I returned sheets I bought at Can Tire before heading to Paetz's to get in on some birthday cake for Asher. I made it Can Tire as they were closing the doors at 6 but a kind gal let me do the return. Celebrating with the Paetz's was lots of laughs as usual. I headed home after 9 to find Harley sleeping in her kennel. She never even barked or got up. I think she thought I was painting in the garage for the last few hours ;) I crawled into bed and watched a couple The Boys episodes.

Hello 2021

Cooper felt the need to go outside at 2:22 am on Jan 1 to do what I am not sure. He was awake early too but that is because of Britt's schedule I think. I sent them out after 7:30 into a beautiful sunrise with -5 temps. Hello 2021!

I woke with a headache ;( but got my caps going and working on marketing after writing out some goals and intentions for 2021. The dogs and I let the cats out around 9 to join in the new year frolicking. Messages and texts were sent to the fellow wanting the ruler that was picked up last week as he plans to pick up this am. Another customer requested a large desk painted and will drop off this w/e.

I headed to the garage to start on my paint project but it quickly morphed into a sanding project. I stopped after 11 when the ruler was picked up. Perfect time to have a bite to eat; first meal of 2021 was peanut butter and honey on rye bread. What did you have?

Then it was back out to finish sanding the dresser top and drawer fronts. I originally planned to do a black wash but the sanding changed that plan. Now what to stain the wood.. black? grey? I decided to start with white wash as you can always go darker like on past projects.

I was finishing the dresser top when Britt arrived after 3. She picked up a parcel at Purolator, thanks. She was under the weather so after feeding Bird she hit the couch for a bit. Then she challenged me to a game of crib. After I won she headed back to the couch for another nap LOL. Kaylin arrived just after 5:30 with the Chinese food I ordered picking it up on her way back from the city. It was great to have a meal I did not have to cook yet full of veggies I was wanting. Shaina did not make it to join us as she was really under the weather today.

Harley loved her belated Christmas gift.

B loaded up Coop and headed home after eating. I did some computer work as did Kaylin after she scratched her scratch ticket gift pack.. winning $4. The day was overcast but did hit PLUS 3 and tomorrow is to be warmer. The chinook winds that brought the warm temps may have been the cause of my headache all day. I headed to soak in the tub and watch Netflix. I started the Headspace: guide to meditation series then season 2 of Dream Home Makeover. Amanda text a new show on Amazon Prime they were watching called The Boys and seeing I only have a month trial decided to swap over to it and check it out. It is a bit odd in places but watched 1 1/2 before shutting out lights. Shaina made it home just after midnight in the still windy plus 3 chinook.
