another lovely day

SO they say today may be the last nice day with high of 5 tomorrow and negatives at night.. dang it. Sealing the record cabinet was on the to do list. I tried a new technique with a rag in a nylon, after 3 coats I went back to a brush to get a more even coat.

Let's get busy working on a new project, the HUGE solid oak dresser we picked up in Calgary awhile back, first I maneuvered it on the dolly. I use allot of physics to make this work for the one woman show but eventually I get things done. All was scrubbed up and left to dry then the painting started. I chose a light cream color.

It ended up another sunny 14 degree day. I harvested 3 more zucchini and most of the little tomatoes
 Now that the sun is quickly setting by 7 it was time to come in and work on inside things, The coffee table blog post was done and posted, more marketing and accounting. Sheldon called, interviews are going well, night at the casino last night was successful and tonight is an Oiler's game in the new arena.. life is good.

pet care day

Last night when I brought in the dogs I checked and yep Lola has fleas so this am I ordered up some revolution. I ran to town to pick it up stopping first to get some cutie snuggles in.

The revolution for 2 and another pill cost a small fortune but if it works, all is good. Now to grab a tea, a few furniture supplies and another small fortune on dog food. It was now lunch so Opa called my name. I hoovered it down back at the ranch then dispersed the pill and meds.

The osteopath gal was coming at 2:30 so before that I put a couple stripes on the cabinet and as my luck would have it the horses finally came looking for water. I caught Hawk and kept on bareback and we all made the trek around to water , and I trapped them in the paddock too. Lola and I then walked to open the gates for her arrival.

I caught Switch and KD for today and stood them at the hitching post. However the gal was late and to keep busy I scooped poop. It was a lovely sunny day hitting about 14. I checked the 3 QH feet and picked out Pepper's. Seeing she was still not here I caught him and started his trim. She did arrive just after 3 and for the next two hours worked on the girls.

After she left I finished Pepper's feet, got all the dogs and walked them with the full wheel barrow to the pit to dump and close the gate, then opened the horse gate too on way back. Time for a cold drink and a shower. Another coat of paint on the cabinet stripes, remove the tape and leave to dry overnight.

Kaylin turns silver

Today is Kaylin's silver birthday, 25 years WTH!!! Where has the time gone, I remember this like it was yesterday.

Back at the ranch it was a lovely day, Sheldon headed out to move the bale stack inside the fence line while I then I headed out on the quad to show the horses the way out. Britt came out to help too and chose to walk the boss man to the gate while the others followed. They were very pleased to get freedom and checked out all areas of the 80 acres.

Sheldon arranged equipment neatly in the shop while I rearranged the living room. I started by vacuuming to stage the coffee table and it blossomed. I love to rearrange furniture, it makes my heart sing.

Britt perused cook books to have a few to make when she is at Olds for the next few weeks. We all enjoyed a rib supper then both Sheldon and Britt were off. B back to school and Sheldon to Okotoks to pick up a co worker then north to Edmonton for 3 days of hiring.. oh and a hockey game in the new arena.

The day was lovely and another gorgeous sun filled golden hour. I caught up on many PVR and Netflix shows falling asleep at 10.. BUT woke at 10:30 and could not go back to sleep till 2:30 ;( but caught up on more episodes.

Misty rainy morning after the stormy evening, perfect weather for coffee in bed. Once up and at it, I went out to stain the record cabinet java this time, the top and legs got a coat of the midnight blue

and the coffee table got two coats of poly added and left to dry

Sheldon eventually donned a rain coat and went out to check the fence around the yard and make it secure to turn the horses out. He however forgot the bale stack so now needs to move them within the cordoned off yard area before turning them out. He then came in to nap on the couch.

Time to shower and get ready for our fun night ahead. We left the ranch at 3 and parked at the casino. Shaina was waiting for us and chauffeured us to our reservation at Japanese Village where we met Kaylin. This was her birthday supper choice and only time left other then 9:30 when she booked earlier in the week.

The supper was entertaining and yummy and for dessert we went down the street to The Craft to have a few drinks and carry on the celebration. Shaina then dropped us right at the Saddle Dome before 7 for our Dixie Chicks concert. The opener was Elle King, daughter of Rob Schneider and does that gal have pipes.

The Chicks started at 9 and entertained us for 2 hours. Great show, lots of singing and fun was had. On our route home we stopped at Macdonalds to try the "best" pumpkin spice latte and grab fries. 2/3 voted not the best but but ok. They did however prove to provide some caffeine as Sheldon and I watched Saturday Night Live till 2 am once home.. OK I did, he did fall asleep ;)
