need sleep

Perhaps it was because I skipped my new singulair medication or the overload of fumes from the stain, I awoke at 1 and took it then a zirtec at 2 then had fitful mostly awake scratching till at least 6 am.. I awoke at 8 thinking finally but why wake now so managed to go back to sleep and slept till 10! I tried to get D out at 10:30 but he too was a no go.. perhaps fumed to death out there. I sure remember why I dislike the smell part of staining.

I got motivated with coffee and spent the morning sealing the jumbo piece with poly. then in the after noon putting 2nd coat on doors and shelves then dark waxed it all...

 but until I find more of these hinges or buy all new, nor doors can go on

then to get some fresh air from the fumes, and because it was sunny and plus 4, I took the dogs for a walk.

I did get notice I won a contest which the prize was a qt of the new Fat paint color.. YAY.. however pickup is 5 miles north of Cochrane.. BOO!

Time to get out the new power nailer and put the backing on.. again not without minor screw ups requiring touch ups.. grrr but here it is all together.. until hinges are found.

I had a plan in mind to do a string art heart for Valentines and put it in this frame, with the back made out of this old warped tray

but after deconstruction the plans changed and I chose a piece of pine I had painted and stained already.. I hand painted the words.. in my hand writing fonts ;/

 then added the nails to the heart

 and applied the twine, unwrapping and doing a few times of course

then I sanded it all and dark waxed but it seems just to be not right.. tomorrow I will redo

but for now I will medicate myself with this heel I found in the fridge. I am narrowing down the rash trigger to possibly chemical allergy so for the evening I wore my dust mask while in the garage but can you imagine if that is the trigger????

staining the monster

Up at 8, couple cups of coffee by 9 :) I did find the coffee pot water filter looked like it was coffee grounds so put in an Amazon order to stock up on new ones, wahoo!

Today's undertaking is the ginormous armoire.. more filling, sanding, hardware removal and then staining... and staining and over 4 hours, 1 quart of stain and 2 sets rubber gloves (wore thru first set) later, the first and probably last coat was on.

I was going to take the dogs for a walk between starting on the backing, it was only high -1, brr cold today but I checked email to confirm with the gal coming to buy the kids rocking chair and found it blocked again. Almost 2 hours later and 3 support techs, my account is now being reviewed... perhaps they will get it fixed in 24 hrs, WTH!!

The gal and her mom arrived for the chair, she is a photographer and using it in a valentine photo shoot this w/e.

I finished up, tidied and came in for some scrambled eggs & toast around 7. After updating FB and the blog I need a good hot shower and some Netflix time ;)

Ground Hogs Day

Sheldon was off on a late flight this am and when I awoke at 8, the ranch was fogged in good. Back to the chest waxing it all up top and bottom then power buffing and repeating a few coats. My OCD had me spending numerous attempts at correcting the sloppy paint job the previous owner did. Eventually it was almost all fixed with out extensive stripping and re-staining etc. Lesson to me to be more selective when purchasing but after all the effort to get to her city apartment and score it had me to polite to offer less or refuse it ;(

I needed to run to town to drop magazines to donate to library, pick up blood work reports and restock on nails ans screws at Rona and grab the mail. I left in the fog, hit snow, some sun, snow and then sun when back home in just over an hour. Back at home at ate some soup then hauled in the chest to stage and post.

 Once I got it all posted on kijiji, and fb I headed out to scrub the ginormous armoire. First I had to remove the backing which had to be done carefully as the back board is always fragile. The scrubbing and hosing took an hour and yes Sheldon I did manage to swap the dolly to support it lengthwise, a crazy undertaking on rolling wheels that would not lock but success with it and the hose down (a chair was needed but the moving dolly was a life saver once perched on the chair) The scrubbing removed the marks and such quite nicely. There was repairs of course to be done as well.

Although I attempted to go to bed by 10, I ended up trying to send Shaina an email only to find it down yet again which led to 1/2 hour with internet tech while finding info for Sheldon, trying to crush a few Candy crush levels and shutting the light out at 1 am!

February 1!

February 1 already, wow!  Today's projects kept us both busy. Sheldon worked on the mez rail and rolled out a bale for the herd while I worked on the pine chest.

I whipped up stirfry before we rounded out the day with 4 more episodes of Bloodline.
