getting cold in here .. no furnace

Sunday, happy birthday papa!! Diego of course wanted out after 8.. if only a dog door the size of a skid steer was not needed for the brute. Coffee and a peruse on the net. Again it is only 4 and cloudy.

The dresser got a buffing and put back together, the customer will be out after lunch to check it out. I scrubbed up and painted a frame red then concocted how to install the cork board. It seems saving parts of other projects is handy and I so happened to have a large foam board which worked great once cut to size. I affixed the cork with double sided tape and hope that works and left to flattened under paint can weight for 24 hours. The frame once dry got clear and dark wax added too.

The wood/yellow frame got a coat of wax on the yellow, once dry I tried adding dark wax for even more dimension but disliked to once again it got painted and left to dry.

I decided it may not warm up so went out to feed Julio and bring Bird in to hose good and treat.I think the under arm area is really healing up nice.

The customer stopped and approved of the job and will send husband to pick up ASAP. I pulled it outside as the sun had finally popped out for a bit now.

Time to run to town quick dropping off old pots for green thumb Craig as well as a box of Popsicles and bubble-wrap for the kids as first stop. A quick stop at hospital lab I ran into Jody S and had a quick catch up, good to see you Jod. Couple more stops to check on paint, restock some beverages and groceries and I was off back south. The weather turned back to crappy and cold but had gone up to 6 lol. Tim's pumpkin spice tea double double warmed me up!

I found this new gift card in a purse I had not used in some time, WAHOO!!! like finding $25 in your pocket of an old coat! Note to all.. check items before giving away to rummage sales or charities!

Dreaded unpacking of groceries was followed with another hour of uploading photos. I noticed that the house was a bit chilly and when I checked it was 19 in the house but set to 22 and not furnace working. Trouble shooting with the boss long distance did not find an answer so eventually I sorted out myself that at least turning the in-floor heat on would help a bit. It seems my electrician took a jumper out so upstairs in floor heat will not work..but at least heat rises hopefully ;)

Hot bath should warm one up then jump into flannel sheets, good plan as it is now midnight and I am just finishing the blog but need to read a few chapters, ciao ;)

blustery crappy day

The storm blew most of the night, by morning it was just a bit less wind. It was dark when I first woke at 7 but when I wok again at 8:30 the windows were covered in drizzle. It was plus 3.. all night and all day, brrrrr.

Perfect day for coffee and indoor painting. The custom dresser got dark wax added, then a drawer front repainted and waxed then all drawer fronts for dry brushing and waxes again and still I am not sure. And of course there is always issues once old pieces put back together, it seems the husband's reglue job on the drawer edge was not flush, so I had to plane it down and repaint and wax it too but it now fits perfect.

I worked on the frame shelf scrubbing it up good and shortening one side, yep 1/8" longer.. people. On a break I downloaded yet another 100+ pictures to the order site.. eat the elephant in small pieces they say!

Another frame got a good scrubbing and then I painted the old cream burlap inside a fall yellow and dark waxed the rustic wood frame.

I did venture out late after noon, the spitting rain only was in am but the biting wind stayed till supper. I fed Julio and then marched out in the pasture to treat Bird's wounds. She is coming along, right feet are still the worst ;( The dogs spent most of the day in the garage, ok Diego did and the night again of course.

I did redo the drawer fronts on the dresser before I shut up work around 8 and finally cooked up a late veggie supper. Time to repost all my things for sale on Kijiji then read some of The Nightingale.

quite a Friday.. birthday Friday!!

Friday.. awake at 7:30 thanks to the 7th call from a new revenue Canada phone scam.. yes it is blocked but still rings once before blocked waking said individual!! GRRRR   Well I did see the sunrise if any consolation:)

Today is lovely Kaylin's 24th birthday. She is lucky enough to be celebrating it in the city of lights with Shaina and the Schmitt's today. I had a quick chat with her as they were getting ready to get going with her special day. Hope it is fantastic and fun and full of adventure.

I spent a bit of time with a coffee promoting my page on a few sites before I headed out to the garage to work on the dresser for a couple hours. Today it got a bit more paint (yes even the most efficient painters forget the bun feet under the cabinet) then a good first coat of clear wax.

The next project was to deconstruct the frame I bought from the picker. Holy were there nails, it was not quite what I would do but now after it is all apart I can work my magic. I started on another wood frame too with a similar paint in mind for both. The work on this led me to remember another gal wanting to buy a frame so I headed outside.

OMG, it was overcast but when I hot the great outdoors it was amazingly warm at 22. I let Julio in the paddock to feed him and started the water to fill the water trough. A quick check on the window frame I have on hand turned into an adventure into hantavirus land. I moved and sorted all the windows stacked on pallets to the one old shed I had put others in.

The UPS fellow stopped to drop off my replacement Corelle plate, got to like that warranty. I finished up the windows and came in to scrub off the hantivirus germs. I actually had removed pants and hoody too and threw in the wash and just poured a cold beer before a quick shower. The dogs began to bark and I could hear a truck. Grab some pants!!

Turns out the fellow Sheldon had asked to bale arrived to see the deal. It so happens they are forecasting rain and possible snow coming in tonight and all day tomorrow. He figured he could fit it in and Sheldon kindly volunteered me to rake ahead of him. WHAT!! I have never drove the tractor let alone partake in the baling process. But for the next 5 hours that was my new death by fire learning task.

Yep he was ready to roll so had me drive him down gravel back roads to his rake, hitch me up then have me drop him at another field to get his demo tractor and baler. I then was off down a goat trail then highways making my way home pulling this fancy rake.

Back at the house, rake unhitched then hitched to tractor and my push in the clutch put it in 2B instructions had me pulling it around the round about and off to the field. A quick push this lever to open the wings and this lever to lower the rake and stay between to swaths were the next rules and I was off. 2 1/2 hours later I had them all doubled and he baled 76 bales right behind me.

It was now just after 7 and getting dark, and a few drops of rain spotted the window. I ran to feed the dogs as he got the rake road ready then drove tractor to yard and parked. I ran into wash my dirty hands to find sputtering water.. YEP the water was still running! Pretty sure the trough is full and perhaps the paddock. As I ran to shut the pump off Julio ran with me so I ran and grabbed him food. I rushed to the house again for truck keys, backed in and had rake hooked up and we headed out to reverse the pattern. By now the wind had started and it blew. The dusty gravel back roads were so crazy with leaves and grass blowing as the hazard lights of the tractor/baler and my truck flashed. eventually we arrived and backed all in, now it was a stop out in the field for him to check and move a truck. Finally I was back home by 8:30 after dropping him at his truck here in our ditch. I put the dogs happily in the garage for the night.

The weather picked up even worse so no horse care tonight guys, the pelting rain and wind are just too crappy. Time for a cold beer and some left over wings then a hot shower now the water had returned. wow what a day!

who needs a miter box

Awake before 7:30, oh my ;( I contemplated running to town to do my blood work but remembered I may have had some crackers in the night when I got some water for my headache. Time then to make coffee ;)

Progress on the dresser, I decided the miter box was something I could do so with a little finagling I did it. I even got great free cut angles, it did end up to thick but I solved that problem too with my power sander, HA. All pieces got glued and clamped and left to dry well. Once good later in the afternoon I sanded some more then put the  first coat of purple going on.

I did get outside in the sunshine, 22 degree day and picked more seeds, hosed Birdy and put her and Switch around the round pen to mow with Hawk and Daisy in it. Julio got his senior feed then he joined the outside crew for a bit then hoofed it off into the hay field. He beats to his own drum for sure.

After a couple hours it was time to put them all back and Pepper and KD took over round pen mowing. I took them back to the pasture as the  pink sunset clouds rolled in around 7:30. So sad it is getting darker faster but time changes this w/e. Once all had drank and had some salt I waited until they went to big pasture and closed them out of the paddock. They have it ate to nothing and are now pawing the roots! Checked the water and headed back inside.

Today I also started my dreaded task of ordering pictures. Yes with my new self employment I also have not had time to do this and my task starts all the way back to November 2012! My goodness has everyone changed.

The girls also headed off tonight on an airplane south, thankfully Auntie Debby will pick them up at the airport tonight and give them safe harbor for a day or so ;)
