all 9 horses trimmed in 24 hours

Friday up and at it, girls off to school and work early so I got busy and trimmed the last 3 horses by noon. They too took turns mowing areas for me.

here is the herds youngest and oldest members, 30 years apart and both from our good friend Jacqueline. Switch is our 2 year old Australian Stock horse and Julio the resident senior at 32!

I had 2 ladies turn into no shows for rustic decor pickup but oh well.

 Next on the list, mow the entire yard and gate area. I LOVE the look of fresh mowed lawn and even though this is hay grass, new seed and weeds, it stills looks best cut!

Now after the blustery dust bowl caused by mowing  and the 9 horses trimmed in 24 hours including sleep time, it was time to enjoy a nice warm shower and cold beer. Isn't there no better feeling than a shower after a hot sweaty dusty day??

Just out of the shower the chair lady text she was dropping off the 3rd matching chair in 4 minutes! Now after all the trimming mowing with a hot shower and cold beer I felt like a wet noodle but eventually I headed out to "condition" the dogs.  Diego was his full gusto self but Coco was like walking an anchor, continuously 500 feet behind requiring coaxing, geez dog. Guess waking her from a deep slumber and the hot 24 weather was too much. I however loved it.. again minus the "less than last night" mosquitoes!

The established for 1 full year? grass along drive is coming in so well and looks awesome with recent rain and todays trim! Sadly it is dark now by 8:30 but sunsets are still amazing! Britt worked AGAIN after school getting home until after 9 to relax and read another book.

my rest was disturbed with what sounded like a bird with a broken wing in the soffit. I even video taped to send to Sheldon so he would believe me and check it out when home. WTH, how would it get stuck in there?

On Wednesday the rain began to drizzle at 7:30 along with wind making it a chilly wet morning. Coffee helped ward off the chills, by 10:30 I was off to town to get paint supplies and meet my old co-workers for a celebration birthday lunch. It was great as always to see them but melancholy when leaving, I am no longer a part of a daily share and care :-( A quick stop to restock booze & groceries and a limited time Pumpkin Spice tea at Tims to cheer me up, YUM!!

Back at the ranch after unpacking and putting away I worked on more pumpkin sets. They are very cute and lots of interest but again most want for near free ;-(

and I hauled in the matching end table, snapped pictures and added to postings for sale

A kind lady dropped off 2 antique chairs. It is so funny how much smaller the chairs were way back when. People were not smaller but $$ must have been the reason.

Sheldon requested photos of Mac as he may sell to get 2 baling implements :/

Shaina arrived home in the late afternoon, while I was painting she made goulash for supper then was off to town for movie, with a boy, but not a boyfriend. :-) Just to clarify, he was a great school friend she grew up with.

Britt worked after school till late but picked up her new laptop case for her new Mac and had me help her assemble, snazzy and her favorite color!

Thursday B slept in with spare first class but off by 9:30 ish.  Shaina was off to work by 11 as I started pony pedicure day. By 4 pm had 5 finished! After each one was done, they were delegated to the round pen to take a turn mowing the wild oats.

At noon the budget blind installer arrived and in an hour put up 4 more blinds. Mom you will be happy there is no early rise in the granny suite anymore.

Once home from work, Shaina requested I join her to walk the dogs but after getting as far as the gate and seeing the swarms of mozzies it was time to turn around. She also was the proud piercer of her nose too! We caught Baby who was going to be ridden this w/e and trimmed horse #6 in the shop away from the darn bitters!

Brittany worked again after school getting home at usual 9 to do homework and such. Should finally be some good deposits in her account but she can figure why she is only busy working as summer ended... hahaha easy you chose not to work more B!

LAST first day of school

Prince Ali was up early early and drove himself to the airport, I was up early for the LAST first day of school ;( Where has my girls school years gone. I snapped a couple shots before she was out the door by 8!

I worked on updating the blog. 5 days and tons of photos yet again. I also went out and snapped a couple update photos from yesterdays progress.

Shaina who did not roust till after lunch took a slow approach to her day off. She did a few chores before heading to town for acupuncture at 3 then is taking Lexi back to the city as Kaylin and Aaron arrive back home tonight.

The day started with a bit of sun but soon clouded over and stayed around 15. There was a brief sprinkle in the morning but nothing to even count. I was glad to fold and put away whites and roll the wraps although sad to see a season wrapping up.

Seeing it was so cool (and that the Prince is gone) I SHUT OFF the A/C ;-) but did not turn on the heat, just sweater and warm slippers to get me thru the day. I finished off the black end tables all except the hardware (choice of buyer at this point) then staged for a few photos.

A new painter friend Sally, inspired me to create some pumpkins, I had loaded the rail trims in the quad trailer and after seeing her post I had a brain wave... how about round ones since my saw person has been on strike, and what ever size I had in the trailer!

So I got out some sanding paper, paint and got busy. I also spray lacquered the old dresser to rid it of old musty smell.

 and the completed frame I did, just no time for prince to cut the painted chalkboard to fill it :-(

Britt worked after school so not home till almost 9, gone for 13 whole hours! She even had homework! she got busy washing jeans and packing a healthy lunch.. great start to the new school year!

Labour day it was

Labour day Monday was a busy one. Shaina was back home with Lexi from her w/e living in the city, she was soon off to her double work day for 10. Britt was out finishing the swathing by 9:30. For Sheldon and I, it was coffee to get started then I worked on accounting while he perused the internet looking for a baler. Around 11, my custom bedroom client arrived so quickly change out of PJ's and load her up.

It was a beauty day and time to get working on the railing along the south side. Lexi came along spending before lunch on her leash but after lunch she was free wheeling and was getting a better hang of country life. Only a couple of search party times, one bath to rid her of fresh horse poop and she even got in on some old knuckle bone action with the other dogs.

After swathing Britt was off to Goslings to mow for 4 hours. The fence came along great with new rails, pulling the old posts and wire and removing panels all the way to the shop paddock gate where we had to stop due to needing a post that gets hand dug due to positioning by power pole (and we don't seem to have one) There was a couple beer breaks to catch up on the labor day classic football game too. But once we hit the missing pole it was time to shut down and watch the game full attention. I went to the garage and scrubbed buckets, sinks and my poor neglected paint sprayer before giving the black end tables another coat of top coat. Britt and Brooke ran to the city in the late afternoon to do last minute back to school shopping.

When watering the garden I found 2 nice zucchini's to add to steak supper, YEAH! All fresh veggies and dill to go with it but it was not enjoyed until around 9 after we spent a couple hours setting up the round pen. Note to self (AKA Sheldon..;-)) 60 ft round pen does not always mean 60' across, measure one panel X # of panels and do math = doing set up only once :-)

Shaina got off work just as we were finishing up our late supper and was able to get in on the yummy feed. Showers and bed time for all after a very productive labor day for everyone! Shaina stayed up a bit later to catch up with us on SOA episodes.
