953 - deep freeze!

Day 953 had an early wake up bark.. at 5:32!! I held him off for about 15 minutes but it seemed imperative he went out so I left him out for 10 and then back in.. -18 so did not take long for him to come back. Today was considered another excusable absence as buses still not running but Britt was stir crazy and caught a ride in with a local neighbor friend to school. Seems the blizzard blew south but left behind a deep freeze!

Sheldon made some coffee, started the vehicle jumped in the shower and was off for a doctor appointment at 10. He did not get back until after 1:30 running errands such as renewing registration, getting blood work, grabbing some booze then time for a nap when home.

Only garage work I did was sand a family sign but waiting for confirmation on starting. I decided that 3 day's in Pj's was about to end and jumped in the shower donning actual clothes for the day. (I did shower and put clean PJ's on day 2!) I did manage to paint up some candle sticks, wet distress and polish.

Shaina headed into work for 4 and since was working till close stayed in town at a friends for the night. Britt holed up in the basement for a nap but did come up to join Sheldon and I for a roast supper.

Once posted the dreaded price question came up so I put them for auction which allows people to pay what they are willing to pay.

952 - can you say snow drifts

Day 952 I slept till just before 9 and saw the storm had finally passed but it is COLD at -16 and wind chill of -30+ creating another snow day. I was worried I could not find all horses but eventually I found all. All but Julio came to try and get water but it seems the waterer is buried and after many futile attempts they raced back to the trees.

When they came back again I threw on my coveralls and boots and headed out with a bucket and shovel. While some drank from the bucket I uncovered the water hole and the rest took turns coming for long awaited water. The snow was hard packed as I stood level to the top of the waterer and the horses stood belly deep drinking. Britt came out to assist and eventually Shaina to snap some photos. The accumulation of snow in areas was amazing.

Back in the house I putzed around putting the angels on the mantle while waiting for Sheldon to call. Shaina went back to bed and Britt TV. He text he landed at 11:30 but nothing till about 1:30. Seems the city has many roads closed and detours abound. He also needed air for the truck tire but once found that he was on his way. He made it to the ranch at 2:30 seeing the long line of vehicles backed up on hwy# 1 in town for the closure still heading east. We celebrated his long trip with a beer then he ran some tools down to Stouts and had a quick visit there too. Right around 3 the internet finally came back up!

The girls played board game and watched movies while Sheldon napped after a week of nights and I finished my GST. I cooked a yummy cream chicken supper which we all enjoyed. Good to have the Prince home to cook healthy meals for! After supper Britt went out to feed the cats and return them to the shop while Sheldon took the horses a bale and plowed snow. I uploaded photos and blogged and put Shaina's trip photos on our portable harddrive as backup for her.

951 - Blizzard 2013 hits

Day 951 Britt was overjoyed the buses were not running as the storm had settled in during the night. she went back to bed for not long when she found Coco had threw up all over her bed depositing deer hair everywhere!! She then spent the day washing ALL her bedding including duvet, mattress pad etc but at least all is fresh now! She and I enjoyed snuggling up under the covers and watching episodes of Pioneer Woman cooking show. The internet went down at 10 and would not come back again for the day.

The wind howled all day long with visibility only to the fence. Diego hunkered down in the garage only braving the cold 3 times during the day. I was inspired by my brief look on pinterest early this am and the cooking shows and made a cheeseburger soup. However once the internet was down I lost the recipe. Amanda found one online similar and text me the pictures of it. Thanks AJ!!

Shaina was like Diego and stayed mostly in her room having a Harry Potter marathon but made cookies in late afternoon since could not get to town to work her shift. I spent many hours doing accounting, yes I missed GST deadline again but was limited due to internet being down. I then put a dark coat of wax and buffed it out on the yellow window completing it for the customer.

It was a great day to catch up on PVR shows and cleaning. The girls stayed up until the wee hours watching movies. Diego decided that indeed he needed a bathroom break at 3 am so I let him out and the girls let him back in but not before Shaina felt sorry for Mr j howling outside her window. She called him in and he drank a ton of water. Britt was worried about Mitzy so braved the howling winds and went out to the shop to rescue her. She had to go back a 2nd time to secure the door while Diego went out again to do more business. By 4 am I think we were all safely back in the house, me cozy in my bed!

950 - office makeover 90% complete or maybe 75 in reality ;-)

day 950 I manged to sleep in till 9:30! I then made the mistake watching a health movie that took 40 minutes and half was promoting the doctors newsletter free with a monthly subscription.. WHAT?? Any with a cup of motivator in hand I got busy assembling the shelves in the office working like a bee until I noticed it was 2 but it sure looks nice! No furniture work at all today just strictly office organizing

The sorting and organizing also had me posting things to the online garage sale

Shaina got home from the city around 2 and went straight to bed. She works her first shift back at the Roadhouse tonight at 5. She took in the crate center piece and a wooden sign for one of my best customers to pick up.

Britt took the dogs for a walk in the late afternoon after working on her closet organization for the afternoon. And when she came back offered to decorate the tree.. I jumped on that offer as I am still sorting papers in the office. THANKS Britt!! XOXOXO

The day was another beauty sticking around zero but they say there is a wicked storm coming Monday, best get things done outside if needed tomorrow.

tidy!! the desk is slated in the spring to be made over with a stripped and stained top and a white bottom and the filing cabinet if I cant find a wooden on will be painted.. blue! I want to frame my new world map in blue to go behind the desk too but for now this is great progress

here is the tree after I added the ribbon and blue glass bulbs, still need angel and tree skirt but what a great job she did alone. Tomorrow perhaps the mantle will be a plan but must get to workshop to finish the yellow frame.

After our supper of chicken fried rice (as seen in above headband shot - for Amanda's page) Britt vacuumed the entire basement and I updated the blog before a well deserved hot shower.
