Cold Day - Warm Fire

Waking at my what now seems -usual 7:00 a.m., I made coffee and got straight to work on the blogs. Vacation day 15 was published, along with Monday’s recap, before I continued sorting through photos for the next few vacation days.

Sheldon was up later in the morning and, after his coffee, met Matt, who came by to borrow the skid steer for the day. Once that was sorted, Sheldon settled into Big Brown to spend the rest of the morning doing some online research.

Thanks Nate for sending cute shots of our little miss each day!

Meanwhile, I moved the white dresser to the top of the stairs and hauled all the drawers down — sanding a small patch of old stain on one of the drawer frames in the garage — before Sheldon helped me carry it downstairs where I reassembled it. After lunch, he headed to town for a dental cleaning.

While my videos uploaded, I cleaned out the fridge and then dove back into blog work, finishing Day 16 and starting Day 17. Hopefully, I can keep this pace up and finally get caught up on our desert vacation posts.

Brittany and Cooper arrived around 1:30, with Brittany bundled up in coveralls and a toque, ready to hand-pick poop in the barn paddock before the snow hits. My Nespresso pod order arrived soon after — perfect timing on such a cold day with biting wind that only reached 7°C after starting out at -7°C.

Brittany tidied up the hay eating areas despite the miserable weather, running wagon loads to the pit, while I took a blog break to finish my second library book (two big ones remain — large print makes them look extra daunting). Later, she moved on to harrowing the paddocks, continuing her winter prep.

I uploaded more videos, edging closer to being fully caught up, and started reading Demon Copperhead — though it just isn’t grabbing me yet. After a few hours outside, Brittany came in feeling dizzy and nauseous from driving in circles so long. She had an apple, took a Gravol, and soon headed back out to toss straw in the horse shelter.

I lit the first fire of the fall, cozy and crackling, and started a new book, The Wish, which was immediately more engaging.

Sheldon returned from town, jumped in Matt’s side-by-side, and went to retrieve his skid steer, then spent a while moving dirt at the pit. Brittany fed the horses their mash and hay before she and Cooper headed home around 4:30, just as I fed Harley her supper.

Renn testing out a "new" pillow that was amongst the treasures scored from the same kind lady who gifted them the dress up box and other goodies.

I published vacation day 16, while Sheldon continued online. Supper was a simple but satisfying mushroom pork chop and pasta. Later, Sheldon watched hockey — with the Flames taking the win — while I finished the Selling Sunset Reunion, laughed through Leanne Morgan’s new stand-up special (so funny), and started a home reno series filmed in Nova Scotia called Trading Up.
