Day 15 - From Bacon to Quick Sand: A Day on the Move

It was another early wake-up, and today was our turn to make breakfast. Sheldon fired up the outdoor stove to cook bacon while I made French toast inside, using apples from our own trees we’d packed along, plus a side of oranges.

After breakfast, Chuck, Debby, Dorothy, and I headed into St George to pick up a few things, including trailer parts for Alan’s rig, which had joined the string of bad luck with its air conditioner now out of commission.

Our town trip had a small detour—we went to the wrong RV place first—but eventually found the right one. I also picked up a small magnifying mirror in hopes it’ll make doing my makeup a little easier on the road.

Two hours later we were back at the trailers, where Sheldon and Alan were relaxing with beers, waiting on the part, Razor already loaded. While Alan installed the part, Sheldon & Chuck took the razor for a rip before loading it. Once everyone was packed up, we hit the road again.

Even in random camping it seems the ice cream truck makes its rounds.

More of that golf course we spotted yesterday along the highway, crazy how green it is in the middle of the desert

A quick fuel and snack stop later, we rolled into Colorado City—once a big polygamist town—and stopped for a late lunch and beverage at a brewery called Edge of the World. We had parked our trailer across the street at another bar, and since both places welcomed dogs, we stopped in there too to thank them for letting us park.

Check out the crazy stack of stones at the top of that hill, it looks like a fort wall

Next came a stop at a huge gas station / dump station / grocery store called Bee’s, which had every kind of liquor imaginable—now that we were officially on the Arizona side. The town itself is split in half by the state line, but they follow Utah’s time zone (MST), which thankfully kept things simple.

From there, we made our way to Coral Pink, but the arrival was pure chaos. The minute we pulled into the parking area, it turned into a sand show—trucks and trailers getting stuck everywhere in what seemed like "quick" sand. Thankfully, Sheldon was the first to make it out, hauling our trailer to safety, while another nearby truck had to help pull the other two out. Holy crap, what an adventure.

It was surprisingly cool here—I had goosebumps wearing just my Lululemon jacket and shorts—and the trailer thermometer read 61°F

By the time everyone was parked, it was 6:30 p.m., and we missed our sunset drink on the hill opportunity, but we unpacked, set up camp, and took Harley for a walk. Supper was leftover fajitas  served up in Benner’s trailer, enjoyed along with cookies for dessert in the Schmitts’ trailer. Afterward, everyone retreated to their own rigs.

Sheldon and I wound down the night watching the new series Hightown I had downloaded before calling it a day.
