It was -6°C but sunny, with a layer of frost sparkling across the ground when I woke after 7. I read a few chapters of my book before letting Harley out, who immediately began following what looked like coyote tracks. Once she was fed, I made coffee and delivered a mug to the prince still lounging in bed. Time to get a tutorial posted—so I shared Sharon's growth ruler tutorial and spread it around where needed. I really need to create and post a Dixie Belle one soon to keep my payroll active.
S was up for another coffee, relaxing in Big Brown, while I FaceTimed with Renn for a quick morning chat. Then came the dreaded hold music—both of us stuck waiting on credit card calls. My refund’s apparently being mailed (which, with the strike, might take ages), and S couldn’t get through to the U.S. line. Eventually, he gave up and made himself some fried eggs.
By late morning, we loaded everything from under the trailer bed related to the Boysis family into the back of the car and hit the road at 11:15, arriving just after noon. I read Keep the Memories, Lose the Stuff from the library on the way—overdue, but a good read that made the drive go quickly.
For the next seven-plus hours, Renn kept us completely entertained with her endless energy and antics. S scrubbed up the veggies we’d brought, while Nathan spent the afternoon in the kitchen crafting an incredible Thanksgiving dinner. S managed to sneak in a nap, and I got Renn down for one around 1:30 before helping Kaylin haul in all their treasures. Renn woke awhile after B arrived around 2:30, bright-eyed and ready to be the center of attention again. The meal Nathan made was absolutely delicious—thank you!
Meanwhile in Ottawa, Shaina and Matt were hosting their own Friendsgiving with twenty-one people, kids included. It sounded like such a fun crowd, though we missed having them with us.
We watched the Blue Jays play again—another tough loss. Dessert was B’s homemade apple crisp with vanilla ice cream (so good!), and I couldn’t resist a small slice of pumpkin pie, my favorite. Feeling full and grateful, I couldn’t help but think how lucky we are for this lovely, lively family of ours.
Our convoy of Strathmorites—B in her car, me in mine, and S driving Shaina’s back home to set it on our approach for sale—left at 7:15, all rolling into the yard within minutes of each other. I fed Harley, B looked after the horses, and S settled back in with more baseball and tire research for B. I wrapped up the night catching up on blog posts, content and cozy after a day filled with family, food, and thanks.

We all have very much for which to be thankful ;-)
