BRRRR — the ground was covered in snow and it was -3°C when Cooper wanted out just after 7. I stayed awake, scrolling through Instagram before finally getting up. S showered and made his coffee, and I followed soon after with both a shower and my own cup. He settled in for a second coffee and some laptop time before heading to church.
While he was gone, I got to work on another blog post, tended to the downstairs plants, and started rearranging the garage to make room for the beets and carrots I planned to bring in today or tomorrow. On my way to the trailer, I tossed a bucket of hay to Roo and Beibs, who are currently in their diet paddocks. I boxed up the pantry in the trailer, and as I carried in one load—along with Lynda’s playpen mattress—a brief sleet squall blew through.
The dahlia planters were put on the dolly for ease of moving around to warmer spots when the door opens.
S didn’t get home from church until after noon, visiting after church then having stopped for milk on the way. Snow pellets started again as we bundled up to head outside and harvest. Together, we pulled all the beets, onions and carrots, topped them, and handed the carrot greens over to the horses. I also dug several hills of potatoes, spreading them on cardboard to dry while the beets and carrots were bagged for the trip to the Paetz’s. The sleet stopped just after we finished.

I would not be scared if I came upon that cute shark. Sounds like a fabulous family gathering.
