Day 17 - From Frost to Full Hookups at Lake Powell

It was another chilly start to the day — when I turned on the furnace around eight, the trailer temperature read 43°F! I fired up the electric fireplace and generator, then made coffee, first warming our mugs on the register since the cabinet felt like a meat locker. With the sun streaming in, I settled on the couch for a bit of reading and thawing out.

A late muffin and fruit breakfast was enjoyed in Chuck and Debby’s trailer before we packed up and got ready to move on. We all pulled out just before noon, heading east toward Lake Powell. After about an hour and a half on the road, the time changed back an hour as we crossed into Arizona.

Schmitt rig ahead of us as we make the journey

All three rigs pulled into their fancy Wahweap RV campsites — $84 USD each, but with gorgeous views, wide cement pads, and full hookups. Set-up was quick and easy, and soon everyone gathered under our awnings for some cold beverages and conversation.

I spent a little while pressing flowers at Shaina’s request, happy to have fresh blooms still beautiful. The group quickly voted that the rest of the day would be spent exactly as it had begun — relaxing and enjoying refreshments in the sunshine.

Debby whipped up root beer floats for everyone to celebrate relax day!

Harley loved all the pets and attention

Debby even managed to get a load of laundry done, and we walked Harley down with her to swap it into the dryer.

Debby bought the girls matching drink mugs... cheers!

Time for a nap for S, Har and the other fellows

As the sun dipped low, Chuck made chicken Philly cheesesteak buns for supper — so good! Thanks again, Schmitts.

familiar scene right? :)

The night ended perfectly with a campfire as the Harvest Super Moon rose over the Arizona mesas. It was breathtaking — impossible to truly capture on camera, but a moment etched in memory.

Thanks again Deb for your photo contribution to these vacation posts!
