Awake at my usual 8 a.m., I read a bit more of my book before making coffee and diving into sorting, editing, and downloading photos. S got up later, on his preferred retirement schedule, while I tossed in a load of laundry after my shower seeing the sun was out.
S gave Harley a bath—much to her dismay—right as B and Cooper arrived mid-suds. Once she was clean, I vacuumed and changed her kennel bedding. B fed her horses and took care of chores before heading off to work, she is on the evening shift this week, leaving Cooper with us for the week. Of course he gets his Mom time every day she comes to feed horses.
S enjoyed an afternoon nap in Big Brown, settling nicely back into his vacation rhythm. A woman picking up a bag of leggings and a dress arrived around 1:30, walking in from the gate, so I met her halfway with the bag while the dogs came along for the short stroll. It worked out perfectly.
Not long after, Riley and Mai stopped by for a visit around 2:00 on their way to Calgary just as I was making guacamole for a snack. We had a lovely visit, even braving the cool +7°C weather to admire the horses from the deck. They headed back to the city before 4:00, and I went out to sort and bag carrots and beets while S fit in another nap in Big Brown.
Later, I hauled my clothes from the trailer, folded the laundry, and put everything away before tackling some long-overdue accounting work. When S woke from his second nap, he changed the gate code again—the #3 still giving trouble—and took the dogs for another walk.
The evening was all about sports for S, while I wrapped up my blog work after 7:00. I finished the night watching Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman (funny comedy if you can relate to life in your 50's) and started the Victoria Beckham biography—a quiet, satisfying end to a simple fall day.

Sounds like you two were catching up and back to a normal routine.
