It was another sunny yet cooler day to begin with. We enjoyed our coffee in bed, each of us having called to queue for a spot at Rolling Hills Reservoir campground. They only take day of bookings. I had attempted to organize a Walker family campout at Emerson again this weekend, but the boys, Craig included, were busy with farming, so it was not possible sadly so we opted to go camping alone ;( Ironically, we both missed the callbacks from Rolling Hills because our 'do not disturb' was on. I tried once more and soon received a callback. We secured a site, which meant we had to hurry to pack the trailer. S hooked it up and pulled it to the front.
I watered my planters and gardens then took care of feeding the mares while S topped up their water. We packed the last items and left the yard just before noon, pausing briefly to empty the grey water at the pit on our way out. In Brooks, we made a short stop; S dashed to pick up some groceries, and I grabbed chicken finger lunches for us, which we enjoyed during the brief drive south of town to the Rolling Hills Reservoir Campground.
The campground is really nice, boasting numerous waterfront sites. Our spot was B14, featuring spacious grounds, towering trees, well-kept grass, a sturdy table, and a fire pit right by the water. H and I ventured down to the shore since she enjoys lapping up the water, but I discovered the rocks were slick, which led to an unexpected slip up to my knees int he water. The only drawbacks were the ants and those pesky biting black flies. After setting up swiftly, we unwound by watching the boats on the water. S dozed off in his lounger while I took the opportunity to update the blog, thanks to the available Wi-Fi then take Harley for a walk.
