Cabinet challenges

After a couple coffees I went to workshop and sanded a few of the filled areas and snapped a photo with fretwork in for the customer. S made his daily porridge and prepped for his hunt day alone. It looks like another beauty day ahead forecasting 10. S loaded up his hunting buddy Harley and a lunch. Also a jug of water and few other essentials for his venture. They set off at 10. I was painting the second coat of paint on the cabinet. Britt and Cooper arrived. She is sick so fed him and headed to bed.

The mirror had the inner edge hand painted.

The coffee table had the base glossy clear coated to match the top.

The cabinet was lightly distressed and the paint sanded smooth. Now to see what the customer wants further but so close to done according to her original want. The last canna plant was cut down and lifted. The pot taken outside to freeze the dang gnats in the soil.

Brushes washed up and in for a cold Fresca at 1:30. And a sandwich. B got up shortly after and headed to town. Back to work; the mirror had a 3rd coat of gold. The cabinet was moved to better light. An area bothered me so I sanded it smooth and started the paint coats again. The drawer was salved.

B was back with lunch. She watered her plants on their monthly schedule. I hauled in the coffee table and staged up some photos.

The beauty day called to me. While B fed Bird I trimmed Switch's feet beside them. I did a yard poop scoop loop filling a shovel. B gathered up Gulliver and Cooper and was off. Then it was back to the garage. The damaged edge of the cabinet that was wood filled looked unsatisfactory. I sanded smooth and painted but still not right. I cut the veneer straight and filled with wood epoxy this time.

There was more touch ups on the gold mirror. I need to walk away from this one now. Brushes washed and time for a beer at 5 pm quitting time. Blog work was up with S and Harley arriving home before 6. We had a cold beer together then made supper. Great night to BBQ burgers with sweet potato fries and buttered cabbage on the side. Of course S topped out his burgers with all kinds of goodies.

so much better

Flames were playing so S watched and washed up pans. I went and sanded the wood epoxy smooth and painted 1 coat. The rest of the cabinet had more distressing done as per customer request. After the game we had our usual hot tub soak, shower with a yogurt bowl to finish the Bodies series. I then read a new library book about Aging Exuberantly the Swedish way.
