Smoking hot 33 degree day - gravel day

Today, the temperature is expected to reach 34 degrees with a humidex of 37—quite intense. I was out just after 8 AM, watering my planters and raised beds to get ahead of the heat. S moved the vehicles, connected the dump trailer, and left for his first load shortly after 8:30. Matt woke up soon after S left, kindly offering to assist the gravel hauler. Upon returning, S discovered the trailer batteries were low and couldn't dump the load. He had to unload a few bucket loads off with the skid steer, charge the battery after swapping it for another, and finally managed to unload. B arrived at 10 as the others left for another load. I completed the Pottery Barn-inspired table tutorial and carried out the usual sharing and sending tasks.

Kaylin and Nathan took Renn to Stampede today for Kid's day - they said it was hot hot hot and left by 10 am.

B returned home at 11:30 after riding in 25-degree heat and tending to the horses. The temperature has now reached 27 degrees. Shaina worked at the island while I focused on tutorials and the blog. We enjoyed cabbage rolls and lasagna, courtesy of Grandma Pat, for lunch after the crew returned after their third gravel load past noon. After lunch they departed for yet another load before Matt and Shaina set off for the city.

The boys returned with their load of gravel just as the crew picking up the bedroom suite arrived at 1:30. They did an excellent job of loading and securing everything in plastic to prevent movement before delivering it to the customer. Matt and Shaina departed for the city at 2, while S went to get another gravel load. Thanks Matt for your help! I finally placed my monthly paint order. Lexi is staying over, and I'll take her to her vet appointment tomorrow before heading to the city. With the sunny weather, the laundry is being done today, and our solar panels are fully charged. The temperature reached 33 degrees around 3 pm.

Sheldon completed several more runs, making it eight for the day. Each run involved hauling 6 tons of gravel and required roughly 45 minutes to go load, return, and unload. He wrapped up his work at 4:30. While I was busy folding and storing laundry, it was time for him to enjoy some a rest in big brown. For dinner, I prepared a vegetarian pasta dish featuring cherry tomatoes gifted to us by Lambert Trucking, along with fresh basil and spinach from our garden. The meal was finished with the last of the aged cheese from our Christmas basket from Ma & Pa. It turned out to be incredibly tasty.

After dinner, as the temperature dropped to around 28 degrees, S began to spread gravel with his air-conditioned skid steer, while I set out to deadhead plants, water and weed. It didn't feel as hot once you were outside and climatized. I arranged another peony bouquet after deadheading several plants. Dave and B completed their training, fed the horses, and hosed them down before they left for home. We watched some Netflix before lights out with our yogurt bowls.
