After only 1 counter, we accepted an offer on the rental property at 6 am since we were both up. The day ahead looks to be beautiful. Candace began grinding coffee at 6:50 to kick off the morning. S checked the rain gauge and found it had collected just over half an inch overnight. Reese got up, enjoyed some toast, and they left for his eye surgery around 7:30. Wishing him the best of luck!
Dave had arrived around that time to feed Suzi and drop off Cooper. While Dave was filling the water bucket and coming around the back, I glanced out to see Timba loping towards the barn paddock gate. Wait, where were the horses that had been standing there just moments ago? They were over by the round pen, inspecting the baby. The three of us worked to herd them back, including S who took the quad to the hay field near the winter gate to push them back in, as all the gates on that side were open again.
Dave left at 8. I cut and arranged a bouquet of peonies for the house. S ate his porridge and then went to the agricultural grounds to volunteer for window installation. I worked on the blog before going outside, as it was too nice to stay in. I clipped off the spent flowers and picked a large amount of dill. Posting it for free proved once again people want it but never keen to pick up.
This is just a bit of dill.. did you know you can keep herbs in water on our counter to use?
S returned at 10:30, and we both digitally signed the offer papers. Now, we await the removal of the conditions by the 15th, with possession scheduled for the 22nd. From our extensive to-do list, we prioritized cleaning the mulch out the dump trailer for next week's gravel hauling. We began mulching the front flower bed and took a break for lunch around 12:30. The damp wood has a pleasant aroma and looks beautiful.
One lady stopped by to pick up the lilies I had dug up from the front bed, along with some Virginia creeper, and took a bunch of dill. After that, it was back to mulching, finishing the south front flower bed moving towards the Schubert's behind the garage. There were a few others there as well that were refreshed.
S also sprayed the last of the round up on the remaining thistle in the island, around the end of the island and at the deck of the base after we picked a wheelbarrow of weeds and quack grass from the island.
Sharon, Stan, and Mable left at 3:30 to pick up Timba for a ride at Lausen's. On their way, they encountered the grader operator arriving. His brief visit resulted in a $1000 quote, which we declined. While S chatted with him I refilled Suzi's water bucket. Returning to mulch the trees, now focusing on the fruit varieties. Candace and Reese returned at 4:30. Reese was guided to Shaina's darkened room and remained there for the rest of the day with his eyes closed. Candace administered drops and medication until bedtime.
Finishing up with three wheelbarrows of mulch on the island, I fed the dogs and then went inside. Sharon dropped Timba off at 6. Candace had picked up a cheese pizza, which S cooked on the BBQ to avoid heating up the house. We haven't turned on the A/C yet this year. Candace graciously did my nails while S operated the box grader on the road. No pro grader service here.
Britt, Dave, and their children came to tend to the horses. Suzi had her hooves trimmed, and S installed the new compartment lid on the quad that arrived today. Before bed, I took Harley out on a leash and watered the indoor plants upstairs. We all went to bed early at 10:30, and S fell asleep within minutes.
