The day began overcast and dreary, the kind that makes staying under the blankets with coffee feel extra inviting. I had a lovely FaceTime visit with Shaina—she’ll be home on Monday for a full week, which we’re looking forward to.
A quick run to town was next. My beautiful sister worked her magic, cutting and curling my hair—she spoils me every time. XOXO We joined Craig and Sheldon downstairs for a coffee, then after noon S dropped me at Co-op to grab poppy seeds while he went to pick up Cooper.
Back at the ranch, a light snow had started to fall, creating a misty look and bringing along a bitter wind. We warmed up with leftovers for lunch, and I tossed the chicken bones into a pot to get soup going.
I had completely forgotten we ordered a veggie box, so I zipped back out to pick it up while S worked on a crossword. On the drive home, I lucked out—police flashed their lights as a friendly warning on the 232, where it drops to 80 km/h. Back in the kitchen, I made a lemon poppy seed cake while S lit a fire. Veggies were chopped and added gradually to the soup as the afternoon settled in.
Wrapped up in my blanket, I watched more The Big C while S browsed on his laptop by the fire. Renn and Kaylin FaceTimed for our second lovely chat of the day, so I moved out to the fire so S could join in. By supper, the soup was finished up with noodles—perfect for a now -11°C snowy evening.
S headed to the TV room for hockey, and I tucked into bed, nearly finishing the last season of Big C. B was out later to feed in the dropping temperature then took Cooper home. When S came up, we switched to a few more episodes of our new show Ripple, and then it was off to sleep.

Your hair looks lovely. Refreshed for the holidays. It's nice that Shaina will be home for a week.
