A Chinook Shift, a New White, and a Slower Sunday Pace

The cold snap finally broke, with the temperature at +1 when I got up to make coffee. Warm enough to send the cats outside for a while. S woke up feeling stomach sick, so he stayed in bed and missed church. I had my second coffee while finishing and publishing Friday’s blog, then completed yesterday’s as well. After that, I took photos and posted a large chalkboard for sale before checking on S—no temperature, but still feeling unwell.

my hydroponic monstera plants, fingers crossed

Renn shares a song

Out to the garage next to paint the cabinet after another power sand and wipe-down. I changed my mind on the bright white and went with a warmer white, as the cabinet leans more rustic than modern. It took about an hour to work the paint into all the nooks and crannies. I am not entirely sure about the colour yet—it reads a bit pink—but I will reserve judgment until it fully dries.

Now to scrub the brush, grungy garage sink, and pet dishes yet again. The Chinook winds pushed the temperature up to +3, and when I saw the horses heading back toward the house, I went out and removed the two blankets. I was midway through making a sandwich when B arrived. She trimmed Switch, then fed. I brought ice water to S, who was feeling somewhat better but continued to rest in bed.

Spider needed another fiddle leaf consult so I shared my current plants progress. The above right is the one I chopped down in september and it has all new growth on the top.

Kaylin's (left) is doing very well but Britt's (R) is struggling

Orchid care came next, followed by a full refresh of Harley’s kennel—linen changed, vacuumed out, and then an outdoor brushing before a proper scrub. She happily settled into her fresh bedding for an afternoon nap. I shifted gears to hustling a few furniture and decor sales and continued working on the cabinet tutorial.

I posted the ponytail palm for free along with the old truck seat cover, lots want the plant! I also posted more of the blue glass jars.

In the city, Nathan made a lazy daisy cake he remembered from childhood. He wanted to make it a Christmas tradition so taste-tested it on Renn. Renn agreed that the tasty coconut cake was okay.

Shaina captured this cute video Friday where Renn explains how you say sorry if you break her house :)

Vacuuming turned into a small repair job when a stool with loose legs needed to be taken apart and glued back together. S was eventually able to get up and get his own water, then settled in to watch sports on TV. I fed Harley her supper and wrapped up my workday, starting some Netflix in the bedroom.

I tossed a pizza in the oven, and when it was ready, S joined me before we both returned to our respective shows. I finished season seven of Outlander, thinking it was the final season—until that ending. A quick check confirmed the last season comes out next year. To close out the night, I published yesterday’s blog after uploading Renn’s funny tub-call video before starting yet another new series.
