Surprise visit to see Dad

I was up in the night closing all the windows at 1:30 as the winds picked up like crazy. I was then up early again for the day before 7, H went to garage and I caught up on IG and a game or two before feeding her at 8. I put a 3rd coat of natural stain oil on table tops then in to make coffee. I woke the prince to join me for  a quick catch up before I was off to the Hat. B text asking to remove Roo's blanket so I ran out and did that and made her food and prepped H's supper too.

Amanda picked me up before 10 with her two littles and we were off to the Hat to surprise Dad with a  visit.

These 2 were stoked to get dinosaur masks and finding the fountain.

We went in and brought Dad out to the sunny gazebo. It was cool when we left at 18 but was now 26 here.

Dad had been up for about 36 hours having a very active night so once we got him to a warm sunny spot and his swollen ankles up on the chair he was fast a sleep for an hour. The kids entertained us with their antics.

Taking him back in after a short walk once up Amanda cut his hair where he fell asleep again. Must be a relaxing trim for sure.

The kids and I played a new pop it game and tried some funny filters on Snapchat.

After his haircut we tucked him in his bed with his feet up for a nap and headed to DQ for a late lunch early supper around 3:30. I had the pleasure of dining with a couple vampires. Then back to the cottage before 5 thinking Dad would be done supper but it seems he had slept thru supper. He was awake though when we got to his room. I helped the nurse get him changed into his Pj's and out to eat the supper they had kept for him. While Dad was having his supper I heard the cash register, another Etsy sale; the last turquoise mason jar!

The kids had the residents quite intrigued in the TV room, when Dad was finished his supper he joined us all to catch the news which unfortunately at 5:30 is Spokane not his favorite Calgary CTV.

I had to run get his rodeo coat as he was feeling chilly, must be the short hair :)

We said our goodbyes to leave the cottage crew with the news, stopped to say goodbye to the fish and birds at the main building and use their facilities before hitting the road west at 6.

You have to watch Aislyn play I Spy

AJ dropped me off at 8 as the dark skies to the north had lightening but our place was just blustery. Once in town the roads were wet she said but nothing arrived here. S was watching baseball. I made Harley meal for tomorrow, found boxes for both the Etsy vases sales, packing and printed the mailing labels with the new printer. So far all 3 projects have worked. S was off to bed after his day. He and Harley went to the river then carried on to High River to grab 10 rails seeing town no longer carried our rail size. Nurse Brittany also gave him his shingles shot.

Beautiful evening ride

It was 15 degrees inside this am again when I was awake before 7 and not because of Harley but rather the darn magpies. As usual there are about 12 outside cackling and carrying on but one was in the eves trough above my open window making all kinds of noise. The day is overcast and blustery so coffee was in order after playing an hour of cookie jam and feeding H. Marketing was up next before I headed to the garage to put a second clear stain on the table tops.

Sanding the desk top in the sun was much warmer then I thought it would be. Once I had gotten thru 80 and 100 grits I added more filler and left to dry. In for lunch I pulled out the sourdough starter to feed to make dough tonight.

Back to the desk to sand it all and the coffee table, haul back inside once done. The table bases were painted the first coat of white. I finished up at 5 to come in and make a pot of chili and catch the news.

Once the chili was cooking I ran the mirror hutch to the gate for pickup on the quad. Once again H loped alongside. 15 MPH to be exact (see videos below)

I staged the latest project in 4 ways and posted a poll, which is your choice?

I also unboxed my latest paint parcel delivered today, WoW, loads of new brushes, thanks Dixie Belle!

Both girls arrived before 6:30. Shaina brought Jacob's truck with her bike and other items to return home. She has her downtown penthouse till September 5th. We enjoyed our chili supper then went out to catch horses and go for the most lovely golden hour evening ride.

another Shaina video

Back from our ride I watched the horses eat their food while Switch grazed, Shaina roached KD's mane and hosed her off and B caught Roo, tacked her up and rode her in the round pen. Inside we visited before B was off at 9 and Shaina at 9:30 to get her snojoe on her way home. I whipped up my sourdough bread only to realize I am going to the Hat tomorrow so put it in the fridge for a day all ready to set proof tomorrow night. Sheldon was home early at 10:30 to have his chili bowl and hit the sheets.

Spectacular weather weekend

I woke with a headache 3rd one this week, most likely from the vaccine maybe? and I was achy once up but that was probably the hoof trimming. A good old Excedrin and I was ready for the beauty day ahead. Coyotes were carrying on right outside the fence line at 7 with wounded calls and yipping, WTH? The kittens were on the deck though with Luna doing her bird chasing and J lounging at the front door. H was fed early again seeing this silly 7:30 wake up.

I published the grey stenciled magazine rack tutorial I had done the other day then got it posted and shared where needed. A hot chai tea was in order seeing the house was 17 after windows open thru the night along with a banana for breakfast.

The table tops were hauled back out and sanded at 150 grit then brought in to hand sand everything and wipe clean. The first coat of clear stain finishing oil was applied and left to dry. I hauled the antique desk out and took apart earlier but seeing so sunny on that side I moved to the tables. I was just going to start on it when Britt and Cooper arrived around noon. She put feed to soak then we were off to ride.

What a beautiful day! Not a cloud in the sky and no wind and about 22 but felt like 30 with those conditions. She rode Roo and I Switch in on our property but Roo was naughty so back to really workout in the round pen. Switch was untacked an put in the paddock but sweaty Betty had a hose before her release. I watered a few trees including a bucker to little elder.

the black ones below, can you see Luna behind Bird?

Time to come in and make coleslaw and have a cold kombucha for a late lunch around 1:30. B wanted to take Bird out and asked if I would ride Pepper. It was a lovely ride yet again this time heading to the winery with the dogs as well. They crossed back to the house once we were back in our yard while B and I went the east loop to finish off the ride. Both horses got hosed before B fed them.

Back in to put shorts on then H got a cool hose as well. She and I sat in the shade watching B and Coop head home after 3. Then it was back to work on the old desk removing hardware and scrubbing up well along with the big coffee table. Both then had wood filler added in areas and left to dry. B had thrown Roo's fly sheet in the wash so I hung it out to dry.

many find money in pieces, I find gum!

After feeding H her most delicious supper I came in to finish up the last of mushroom zucchini casserole. Catching up the blog I saw Cooper out the window, B was back to trim Roo's feet. I chatted with Mom then Dad on the phone while scooping poop. B was off after 7 as I was watering the garden and deadheading plants/flowers. I just can't believe how beautiful it was this weekend. It hit 26 this afternoon.

Back inside begrudgingly I caught up the blog while watching Blindspot. I also wrote a Hometalk post on the mudcloth magazine rack. Then off to bed to watch but tonight I turned it off after 9:30, earliest ever this summer.
