garage tidy

It was plus 5 at midnight last night when I finished up an episode of Dexter but I was awoke at 1:30 to a huge windstorm and even warmer temps. Britt got home soon after and confirmed the warm wind. By morning the pasture had the small pond forming again.

Britt was up and off to work at the gym for 9. I painted the Paris blue chairs another coat and tidied as a customer and her daughter stopping to check out the smaller of the two rustic tables. They took the table and checked out all in stock pieces while here.

I staged and posted the finished chair.

Back in the garage it was more sorting and organizing now that things are moved out. Shaina stopped after lunch for a visit again before going back to work out with Britt. I continued sorting, reorganizing and scrubbing the garage. I have two ladies who booked private lessons so this and the fact of getting more done urged me on.

So here is progress minus washing machine, large frame, a huge cabinet, 5 chairs, a bench and hopefully 2 dressers gone and going soon!

Britt got home from work and after a lay on the couch and a firm request she took dogs for a quick walk requiring the low rider to get hosed off once they returned. Plus 10 makes for lots of muddy dogs. Britt headed to town to a hockey game as I ran to town to meet Julie, a gal who is a "picker" and as it turns out, small world, works for IW Kuhn. Her page Rustic Art Buy & Sell posts some treasures and tonight she was meeting me with my first load. (will post my treasures pic tomorrow)

While in town I treated myself to supper and a tea which I ate back home. I hopped into a hot tub after my dusty dirty cleaning day while watching Dexter and actually nodded off when finishing the episode in bed!

But upon waking I finished 3 more episodes with only 2 remaining in the entire series! Britt got home after midnight from the longest hockey game ever lol

Today is the big bio test, Britt was off running by 8, good luck B! I staged up the sweet little bench and posted for sale before heading to town.

 

Pick up a dresser in need of reloving and some knobs before getting a tooth repaired at the dentist. I found a few scores at the Take It or Leave It site, grabbed chicken wire, paint and other supplies, groceries, beer and filled up. Gas is 76.9!! and diesel is under a$1 at 98.9!!

Back at the ranch, Britt was home from her test so taught her to make fried rice for a late lunch. Marissa our egg gal dropped off 10 dozen this load. The sunny plus 6 day continues to melt the snow and our drive continues to be a skating rink.

I got busy working on the old grey/blue frame I did last week after Britt left for work installing dreaded chicken wire. It was not long before Shaina stopped out to visit (she too was the at the dentist today) followed by the Gosling crew.

 It was time to stage and post the old frame for sale.

Shaina was off to town after supper to hang out with girl friends. Britt was home around 7:30 from work just after a couple stopped to pick up the washer I was giving away. She chilled for a bit then was off to town heading with Brooke to Amber's for a hot tub.

I was back in the garage spraying the old chair and the 2 ladder backs in a pretty french blue then I dark waxed the press back chair. Another busy day in the life of LA ;-)

painting and purging progress

Seems it never froze over night, the low was plus 1 and was plus 5 when I got up. They are calling for warm next few days. This makes for more melting snow but the worst is the dog piles that are now squishy land mines!

It had a high of 7, which lingered all day. I was in the garage first thing spraying my chairs their first coat of blue. Once Britt finally got up here she kindly made omelets for our brunch, yum. I had a very productive day in the work shop, I painted a solid wood bench and old press back chair old white. I hand sanded them once dry and even finished the bench but will let dry before staging.

I took apart another old curbside chair and sanded the seat. This one I will paint in exterior paint for a door plant stand.

The afternoon was so nice and sunny I took the dogs for a big long walk. There is a hint in the air that spring is going to require a mask if I walk, dam it Sheldon! They loved the scented trail and big walk. I even spent some time scooping the gross piles around the house. This is rated NOT the best time to do this job, EVER! But it got done and I dibs out the next round! A couple ladies stopped thru the day to grab free dresser and riding boots too.

Back inside I started some supper while Britt continued to study for her big Bio test tomorrow. After supper a fellow stopped out to pickup the large vintage cabinet I had while I put another coat of blue paint on the chairs and wax on the bench.

chairs galore

Overcast day at the ranch. Britt enjoyed her sleep in as I spent morning in the garage. I scrubbed 4 chairs and a bench to start, this lead to cleaning out the floor drain :)

The next project was to paint a dresser however this did not pan out as planned. My fancy moving dolly had momentum going to fast and as I turned the corner it tipped off dumping out the drawers. Sadly 3 out of the 6 drawers had broke corners. Time to glue and clamp but as I was scrubbing the remaining drawers and removing hardware, a metal handle snapped! A quick search found these long handles running at $10+ EACH so after a quick consideration.. it is no longer a creative project.

Britt got up and got studying after making her famous omelet.. for herself only I must mention :( She also took a break and walked the dogs for me too.

I worked on repairs and dismantling the headboard I was going to repurpose, it now will be wood! I posted a few pieces to sell and get out the the garage to go along with the bad luck dresser from earlier.

The window frame customer arrived for pick up late afternoon and once all loaded I started the priming of all the chairs I had scrubbed. Britt threw a pizza in the oven and we had simple supper. I went back out to touch up the primer spray. She ran to town later to work out and I hopped in a warm bath to get all the paint off ;) Back home she showered up and a "boy" friend popped over to watch a
movie.
