Another 7 am wakeup, S was going to go to Med Hat but declined his alarm and back to sleep. I made coffees and I finished Let Them library book then up to feed animals, make another coffee and get to work.
This morning, I published the blue green jewelry box tutorial and shared it everywhere I needed to. While I was working through the updates, I noticed that I had an Etsy sale for some Royal Doulton dishes. I found a box, packaged everything, printed the label, and updated my Etsy spreadsheet and accounting to keep track.
S was on the phone with the hospital, participating in the family update on Papa’s health plans since he didn’t go down today. I am struggling with my eat breakfast plan, so after 11 a.m., I finally had a piece of toast. Then, I returned to work on the dresser. I painted it a coat of black, gave the drawer edges a second coat, and touched up the lines.
When the drawer fronts were dry, I sanded them to get crisp edges and used the smaller head on the curved drawers. I hand-sanded them, including the painted edge, and wiped them clean.
Next, I moved on to the custom cabinet. I removed the hardware, sanded the now-dry drawer bottom to remove years of grunge and smooth it, and glued the dividers together. I left them under a board with a 5 gallon paint can on top. This was a challenging piece, but the first step was to get it square. I was able to push out the corner and get it back in place once I removed the nails from the warped backing. I had to disturb the resting sick guy to retrieve a claw hammer from his shop because he had taken all the tools from the garage. He attempted to take the dogs for a walk but was back in saying hurricane winds.
I removed the glass in the doors as I do not need to have them break. This revealed a ton of grunge stuck under the glass braces. The base also needed more scraping, all dunk vacuumed up and a wipe down. I got the cabinet in square, glued and clamped in place. The sick fellow was "hired" to install a few small nails int he backing to affix it smooth.
I was feeding the dogs a late supper at 5:30 when S arrived back with a rotisserie chicken for supper and the mail. The weather had changed dramatically to sunny and hardly any wind. He took the dogs to the gate and back while I cooked quinoa. After supper, S hit the bed to practice Spanish. He’s blasting along! This morning, a fellow messaged me about the coffee table but wanted a deal, which I declined. He replied he would pay the asking price and arrived around 7:30, driving from Cremona to get it. It was perfect weather to open the yard gate, help him load, and let out the dogs.
I wasn’t sure the horses had gone for water at the trough, so I walked the dogs and the horses around. It was a spectacular night! Stella even joined us on the walk. I saw Jay making his way back along the winter pasture rails, but he wasn’t quite keeping up with our cross-field venture. Of course, S was watching his Flames on the bedroom TV with a bowl of ice cream and still doing his Spanish. His unlimited hearts end at 10, so I worked on tutorials and blogs as I have a lot to catch up on all these projects. I did stop and make myself a yogurt bowl. I then moved to bed to read my new library book while the Flames lost in OT not ending till after 11.
