ditch cleaning

First Saturday is May is provincial ditch cleaning, we were up putting on coffee at 8:30 and getting ready for the day. Britt and Cassie were up by 9 with C heading home and B grabbing a coffee. A couple of our members were here before 9:30 meet time and the other 2 were just before 10. We got loaded and off to our location and starting before 10:30.

What a gorgeous HOT 24 day, too hot to pick ditches but it got done. Britt and I were a team doing our 4 kms of ditch then caught up with Sheldon who was the lone ranger doing 3 alone coming for more bags and a needed drink of cold water and helped  finish another 1 km to meet up with him. WHEW! time for a cold drink and snacks after a group photo.

Our lunch was a 2 hour meeting getting polox plans for the season started. All the gals were off around 3:30 and we hit the TV room to catch the Kentucky Derby. We followed it up with a simple supper with S back to the TV room for hockey. I was going to hit the shower but Britt wanted to ride and seeing it was still so beautiful out I agreed. We had a great ride my favorite golden hours of the day.

 

To round the night off, Britt was dying for a campfire so of course Sheldon was happy to comply while I finally got my shower and worked on the blog. However it was not a long night around the camp fire as the winds picked up forcing them inside at 10:30, darn.
