Spectacular summer weather!!

Beauty day up after 7, H waited till now to go out so I actually was up not long after feeding her early and stripping the table tops. I had hauled them outside and was sanding them when Britt dropped Cooper off after 9. She is working at the track today.

after scraping it was scrubbed with water to neutralize and remove softened finish

After sanding with 100 grit I took a break and dark waxed the tray. The feet were painted another color then all were clear coated. I tidied up the garage then gathered house trash to fill the garbage bag.

I ran to town after putting dogs inside to grab shingles vaccine, a few groceries, a pumpkin tea and muffin then tossing trash at the dump on my way back home. I made a dill pickle salad kit up and had it and my pumpkin treats for lunch. Time to head out and sand the tops with 120 grit paper. I hauled them in and set up on tables. The tray and feet were given another clear coat.

The day was spectacular with just a few clouds a light breeze, loads of sun and 21. Time to take the dogs for a walk looping the east way then back for a cold lemonade in the shade.

This poor ball is played with daily but it seems finally she was able to chew thru the handle.

I came in to work on the blog and heard a horse snort. I went out to find the herd drinking from the puppy pool. H and I wrangled them back to the paddock; I had left the yard gate open for Britt. This led to seed collecting, leaf cutting, spent plant chopping and more yard work in the sunshine.

In the garage I started work on the large coffee table. The top is in need of work so I scrubbed it, sanded and wiped again but need to source a new pull seeing one is missing first. The lower shelf on the current end tables was sanded and wiped too.

not sure if I want handles on the tray now? hmmm

Britt arrived back before 5. She was off to ride Bird while I continued computer work. She trimmed her her feet once back then hosed her and put plaster on. I caught Switch and trimmed her then let her graze for a bit then back in paddock. Britt was lunging Roo then bathed her.

I was back in to eat leftover supper and last of apple crisp. The fermented lemonade was bottled up. After B fed the horses, put Roo's blanket on to help her itch she came in and administered my shingles vaccine. Thanks little nurse B! She and I then went and trimmed Harley's nails on the low deck before she and Coop set off for home at 8. I jumped in the shower then back to computer work before crawling into bed to relax for my last Saturday in August.

Let's get stripping

After my new usual rise and shine at 7:30 to let H out, peruse IG/games then feed H, I worked on my Etsy ad for the Latin floral jewelry box. It had new felt feet added, sticker and video done too. I then wrote a tutorial for the recent farmhouse dining table, published it, posted on the appropriate sites and sent to all the sponsors.

It was now after 10:30 so I ventured out yes in my housecoat to check on cats (Luna and J had found their way out overnight) scoop poop and pick 2 zucchinis. Back inside I made a smoothie for my brunch. The paint parcel was unboxed then taken out to put away. The door was painted the first coat of paint to make it a tray.

The end table tops had stripper applied and left to soak with plastic on it.

The milk paint parcel was opened next; what to paint? Time to get some data recorded on my spread sheets followed by a chat with Mom to update on Dad's last couple days. Things seem to work better when Mom is there to mediate and facilitate. All the indoor plants were watered.

Back to the garage after an hour of soaking the table finish has not softened so onto the tray. I blended in 3 new colors. When dry it was sanded smooth, the transfer applied and a clear coat put on.

The sun now was out and the wind less so H, Luna and I went for a walk. We have been slipping on that with the smoke and being busy. It felt good to get out in the sun. I stopped in the barn to fill cat food and see where Stella and J were. The tray was given another coat of clear front and back and left to dry.

Time to cook some supper; tonight is hamburger zucchini in mushroom soup. While it cooked I bottled up pineapple kombucha and brewed a new batch.

I attempted to remove the finish but it was not ready so added more. Britt and Cooper were out at 6:30 as I was finishing adding more. She fed 2 horses and I gave them the rest of the damaged apples then we sprayed them and on our way to town. I dropped her at her car that was fixed today and headed to Tims to get my first pumpkin spice tea of the year.  When I looked behind me in the line B was behind me :)

I got tea and timbits- I had to buy Harley's at this tims. On the way home I picked up the mail then back to the house to enjoy my tea and catch up today's blog with Blindspot by my side. I went out at 9, which was 7 hours after applying the stripper, but it was still not ready. I applied a fresh coat, covered in plastic again and left over night. I washed up brushes, tossed out about 10 jars of milk paint seeing I am stocked up then back in to finish up blog. Off to bed to watch Blindspot. Even a wee bit of rain came down for a short time while watching.

Day with a good friend

Looks like a beauty day ahead full of sunshine and no wind fingers crossed when I let H out at 7 then to garage. I perused Instagram and played a few brain gyming games before feeding her and getting on with my day. I started vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms yesterday but sidetracked by phone calls so finished this am with a couple motivating coffees. A shower to freshen up for my guest Lori B who arrived after 10:30.

We had a great visiting day with salad lunch and snacks. She loved my kombucha and took home a scoby and starter to make her own. We wrapped it up after pizza supper with her heading home at 7 solving many world issues :)

Britt, Cooper and Dave were out not long after. A paint parcel was delivered during the day as well but seems there was another at the gate B brought along, it was S's supplements. B fed her horses then she and I dewormed all the cats and tucked them in for the night. B borrowed the pruners, ladder and truck seeing her car will be in the shop till Monday evening. They were off at 8:30 to prune some trees. I worked on computer before heading to bed to finish one Netflix series then back to Blindspot before lights out.

helper Harley, it is international dog day today!

Work work work

Only 1 iced coffee to start my day as my milk is on the verge so I made the rest into milk kefir for Harley. I got to work on the jewelry box adding the transfer while chatting with Amanda after I called Dad. He is still having a hard time with no TV to keep him busy. The weather was sunny down there like here too but we have wind which of course he may not see if not having gone outside.

I snapped a few pics of the ruler to share

As I was painting I saw this super cute face staring at me. I loved having the Echo to see faces I know and <3.

The board was sanded where I wood filled but I flipped and found the other side had pull holes needing filling too. Grabbing more items needed I was back inside to clear wax the jewelry box.

Waxed clear and the metal plaque set on to decide pull color.

The box pulls were scrubbed earlier and now sprayed gold. When dry they were screwed back in place, the lid lining glued back in and photos taken.

and another photo of the ruler

I hauled the 2 end tables down and scrubbed them up for the gal who is bringing the coffee table back tonight to have the top dark stained. Leaving them to dry I was back in to catch up the blog and do some computer work. I remembered the cats were still in so ran and opened the door. Back inside I made a big batch of fermented lemonade. The spent lemon rinds and all my extra kombucha scobies got buried in the garden.

H was fed her supper then I tidies the garage for the coffee table drop off. While waiting I ran in and ate the leftover zucchini mix. She arrived just as I was done, perfect timing. We hauled the table in and chatted plans for the matching tables. She hoped I would finish them and store till December but I said that would not be possible so she will store at her place till her cabin renos are done. Britt and Cooper arrived while we were chatting, she mixed up the food and off to feed the horses. I joined her once the gal was off to enjoy the sunshine with the side of wind. Once all were fed and checked they headed home dropping her car at the garage on her way by as it is having issues. My evening was the same as usual with computer, iPad/Netflix and then to bed.

finally a clear beautiful sunset
