Switch and Roo reunite

I am not sure what would give me a deep solid sleep. No snoring, no barking, nice an cool and comfy yet wake multiple times in the night and always early. I try to not start a list but rather try rhythmic breathing and most times I can get back to sleep eventually. At 7:30 the lists began so I finally got up and made a cap and worked on marketing ad a new tutorial.

Next on the list was water all my plants... check then move on to painting the table base another coat. I am NOT liking this new paint brand at all. I should quit it while I am ahead but I wanted it to spray the chairs using my new paint sprayer.

                                        

Time to head outside and put the rail up yet again then prune snapped branches and check for damage. It seems my little cargo trailer being on the north side took the hit ;(

Back inside I finished my wooden crate tutorial getting it posted to a few places and sent to brand rep. The little table I glued the veneer down on was up next. It seems the glue worked to well and I had the MDF baseboard I used to flatten under the clamps glued securely to the table top. It had to be hammered off then sanded. See the wee bit of white yet to go?

Then the top edges of veneer were filled and the glued area to make all flush.

B and Cooper were out around 1:30. She fed Bird and chilled while I finished a few things before catching Switch and loading her up to head to working equitation lesson at Anna's. KD was thrilled to get to join the other 2. We were out the gate at 2:15 dropping the big pile of dill off in a box under the evergreen for pickup.

It was an exciting reunion for Switch and Roo after not seeing each other since April. The lesson was slated 3-5 but as usual the class before us ran over as did we. B, I and another young girl were in the class. It was a great refresher for Switch who did everything really well for first time back. Roo on the other hand was spell bound by Switch being there and was acting up for B eventually having Anna take the reins.

Back at the ranch, Switch was hosed, poop cleaned in the fat pen and out of the trailer while B took the other 3 for an exercise loop. I tossed some hay then came in to roast veggies to go with leftover chicken. Still got one piece to go; the meal that lasts all week ;)

A shower was needed then it was an evening of research for pasture and wight loss solutions. I ordered a few grazing muzzles to help keep life somewhat normal but restricted at the same time as the fat pen is already bare after 10 days. I put Lola in the garage around 1 and shut out the lights.

Hail and over 1/2" of rain

So Lola made it till almost 1 am but could not contain herself with protecting so into the garage she went. I had a terrible sleep getting up for the bathroom and pretzels around 3, then remembering to bring  in the dog food so magpies don't eat at 4, then the dam magpies at 5:30 and awake multiple more times before perusing Instagram at 7:30. The morning started out dark and threatening and cool looking but it did get to 23 with the sun out.

I started the day with caps and marketing and trying to get things caught up. Then it was off to work on the dining table. But first I glued the loose veneer on the demi lune table top and clamped it well.

I finished sanding the dining table top then cleaned it to paint. Once I started painting I noticed it was wiping off easy so washed the leg off and sanded the base lightly to scuff. Then I removed the top and painted the base white.

The sun was peeking out so I headed out to do the next chore on my list; pick poop in the fat pen. In one hour I had 2 full wagon loads!

Now I tried another coat of paint only to double check the can and it says 8-12 hours between coats. Time for a cold beverage and some salad and catch a bit of the 5:00 news. That did not last long as the next item on my list was to ride seeing Britt was not going to tonight. I caught Miss Switch and she and I went for a nice half hour work out. I let her graze along the shop edge for 8 minutes while I put away items then put her back in the pen with crusty KD. I had just put out minerals as Britt and Cooper pulled in at 6:30.

She did her feed quick and was off as I had moved to watering my garden and pots. However the weather had other ideas and thunder started to roll. I pulled a pile of dill for a friend and so the zucchini can find sun as the wind picked up. 

I came in just as the wind, rain then hail began to pummel us. It came down for probably 15 minutes eventually turning to just rain then moving on.

I did computer work running out before 9 to check the rain gauge. We got just over 1/2" of rain in that short time. A quick trot to the barn to toss the fat girls a bit of hay to warm them up and sure enough it started to rain again while the sun was shining.

I hauled back 2 dining chairs then got Lola on the deck and give her pill. She has had a busy day and tuckered and a bit sore. I am thinking she will sleep thru the night. Tonight it was a cup of tea as I worked on the blog and computer and watched Canadian Baker episodes. Putting Lola to bed and moving to mine I finished up season 1 and shut out the lights.

Garage is busy today

A good nights sleep helped but still the tummy was a bit off thru the day. The morning started out like a misty mountain look with a high humidity all day. I made a cappuccino while marketing and such then made Shaina a cup of strong coffee with creamer delivered to her bedside at her 10 am wakeup call. She and I then went out and trimmed KD. What great timing as the sun burned off the clouds and the temperature went from 17 to 22 in short order. I watered the garden and pots while she took out the girls, hosed off KD, put back two rails in the corner the horses knocked out and swept the barn mat!

We had some raisin toast and salad for a quick lunch. After loading up her camping gear and such Shaina was off before 1. It was now 25 out and time for me to get the furniture unloaded from the trailer, snap a picture and find a storage spot. I took the awesome brown chair cushions to the cats and filled their dish.

Now to decide what to do. First was to try and fix Aislyn's broke chair. It seems my wood is not going to be thick enough (top) as the broke board (below).

Amanda and I brainstormed some ideas but after seeing only 2 ledges with brad nails the seat should be original thickness. 

I then moved on to stripping the farmhouse table with a little stripper left in the can so did the little demi lune table and dresser top while I was at it. After scraped clean I started the sanding process. 

I came in for supper at 5 spiralizing some zucchini to go with a piece of chicken. The storm that hit Calgary made its way here but only caused big wind and 10 drops of rain. It did however crumpled Paetz's trampoline in town.

I was working on my latest tutorial for the candle holder when Britt and Cooper arrived before 8. She said Pepper was in the fat pen again, dang it. I saw the top rail in the corner was down but thought B could put up when feeding. I went and put the rail up, tightened the wire that was stretched (see it holding the rail?), hiked to the yard gate and got the electric charger and took it to the middle paddock and hooked up. I checked all the way around the middle pasture but not sure it is indeed zapping but I did have my spongy crocs on. The water was turned on for the middle paddock and I tossed some hay in the fat pen as B and Cooper headed home after feeding Bird and moving Pepper back to his pen.

It hit 28 today but dropped fast now to 17 again. I worked on the blog and more marketing with a bowl of ice cream after giving Lola her pill and putting her on the deck. Going to see if she can make it all night out there. So far she has only made 1 night outside :) I finished the Skin Decision season then got back to Great Canadian Baker.

Sick day

OH MY, what a night. I woke around 4 am feeling nauseous which eventually came to fruition. Over 12 times in fact and adding diarrhea after first 2 episodes. This made for a very long night of up and down and no sleep. Finally around 9 I think I fell asleep only to wake at noon as Shaina was just rousting. She kindly brought me a glass of water for my parched throat and achy body. 

It was a pretty chill relaxed day but it was a warm one hitting 27. I worked on waxing the white pieces while she did computer work. I tried to have a nap a bit later but no luck but at least I was feeling a bit better. The white pieces were completed and staged.

S was off to train Sharon in person for 5 but not back till about 7 as she borrowed a tent to camp this w/e and had a test run to be sure all parts were there. I was making a creamed chicken dinner with Shaina making the mashed potatoes. Britt joined us for supper too.

She fed Bird then was off to town to get groceries before meeting Shaina at the gym to video her. Shaina and I caught the horses and went for a nice ride. The fresh air was nice however my tummy still rumbled and Shaina had 2 bouts of tummy troubles just as we were leaving but was then good. Once we untacked she was off to town to do some videos and get a snojo of course. I worked on getting the new items put on Etsy for sale.

I had a nice relaxing shower and crawled into bed watching some Netflix. I was again listening to my Headspace sleep stories when she returned after 11.
