Sunny Saturday

What a beautiful sunny non wind morning. I made coffee and got busy doing computer housekeeping and posting the quilt rack for sale. It was not long later that Sharon messaged she would like it. I put another coat of hemp oil on.

I have the white desk lady dropping off another project for me at noon so got busy sanding and scrubbing the roll top desk while I waited and finishing up after she was off. Sheldon was a snuffly sicko but he did manage to head out before lunch to pitch some hay and roll the electric wire from an area of temporary fence. A quick bowl of soup for Britt and I and we were off into the +12 sunshine about 1:30. Sadly the wind was now picking up but it was still really nice.

I rode Hawk first ponying Switch then it was her turn. Two hours of riding and a bit of polox practice was perfect. Sheldon slept on the couch the whole time and for even 2 more hours after we were inside.

After supper, Sheldon moved to the TV room for hockey night, Britt was off to Amber's at 8 for a campfire & sleepover. I headed out to the garage and did repairs on the roll top desk.

Restock the booth

FOGGED in heavily this morning. The Prince is more under the weather each day. Today he awoke claiming he could not take his acupuncture appointment so I said for sure I would take it. I quickly staged the grey box and posted it.

Since I had everything loaded in the car to restock the booth we just had to jump in and head to town before the 11 am appointment. Prince Shelley was off to check for things at his favorite stores, drop a bag off at Amanda's and grab us teas for the ride to Airdrie. Perfect for my apre's session. Check out my facial needles that will stay in all day.

At the booth I got almost all the stuff I brought set up and good to go for another week or so. Sniffles wandered the mall while I finished up and then we set off to Costco to stock up on a few things there. It was a gorgeous 15 degrees out but WINDY!!

We came back thru town to grab some supplements but the store was closed by 3, on a Friday WTH. Getting the mail had us running back to town for a stack of parcel cards which turned out to be letters, darn no new goodies. Once back at the ranch at now 4 it was time to unload Costco. Britt had arrived back home from her night over in Lethbridge but was in town hanging out with Amber. She was home before supper which ended up quite late since Sheldon and I had ate late lunch at Costco.

I brought in the quilt rack and snapped a few photos, will post tomorrow

Creamed chicken at 7:30 is fine right? We all hit the TV room and watched The Champions (recommend this one for all you dog lovers) followed by The Fighter (a bit slow but ending was ok).

crackle medium blunder

I made coffee today trying my theory as to why I like my morning coffee better with these beans. I think it is the tap water I use vs the RO Prince does. The morning was overcast but the sun did come out eventually. I got busy in the garage working on projects. For the dovetail wood box I chose the new stain & oil finish in driftwood.

I mixed up some light cream milk paint and gave the quilt rack a coat. I pulled out some neat wall art pieces I wanted to give an old look too. I chose to stipple fresco on first then use the rest of my soft blue milk paint over it once dry.

Sheldon worked on his lap top for most of the morning but did head out before lunch to pitch hay for the horses and prepare stuff for his bison head work. After we ate a quick lunch he was back out and had it skinned up in no time. He did try hauling the head around but chose to dump the "liquid" close to the round pen. More to follow that decision later.

I put two more cream coats on the quilt rack , sanded the box and dry brushed a few fun colors on it too. I painted a little something on the one end and waxed the inside with white wax.

As Prince was having his after lunch nap the wind started to pick up.It blew Miss B home about 1:30. She was super excited to be home after having dog wards last w/e. Her after noon was spent snuggling Coco and getting ready to head to Lethbridge tonight.

Sheldon has had eye issues and feels a bit off so had a bath. I tagged pieces so ready to go to the booth. After 5, young master Grady, just home from his 6 months in Australia arrived to pick up Britt. A quick hello and they were off to surprise friends as to his arrival back home. As he pulled in Lola had a coyote on the run and after they left and I was making supper more arrived.. due in part to Prince's dump close to the house. He took a few shots at the infiltrators but only scared them off. He then hit the TV room to watch Flames while I was off to the garage.

First order was to put the crackle medium on the wall sconces as they have to wait 2+ hours. Then it was time to sand the quilt rack and hemp oil it. I also hemped the outside of the driftwood box. I hauled the roll top desk out of the car and got to examining it after I loaded all my pieces to go to the booth. Yep repairs and some changes. Easiest one was to remove the material that had been put on the slide out shelf. MANY staples later it was off only to find all the original nails still left in. SO with a wee screwdriver I removed all of them too. I did find a scrap of the original black burlap type material.

As I was working I heard a snap crackle sound. Sure enough after a few more I found the wall sconces paint popping off. It has been 2 1/2 hours now and almost dry however this was NOT what was to happen lol It seems the medium shrinking caused the fresco and paint to lift and crackle off. Darn it, time to call it a night. Time to write up blog and catch a few more Switched At Birth.

nice spring day

The sound of rain upon waking was odd to here. There were even puddles around the yard, crazy. I have been lucky enough to score a paint test with Krylon so had to come up with a project and paint list. Now that is a task. We were off to town before 11 for Sheldon's massage and I went to Ada's last gymnastic day.

Before picking the Prince up, I grabbed a flannel shirt and a coffee table I bought of the bidding sites. Now the sun was out and warming up.

Lunch at Opa's before heading home dropping trash at the dump on way by. Of course the massage and lunch had the Prince heavy into an hour nap. I continued my Victoria research getting restaurant recommendations. Jamie really liked the Sooke Harbor House so think we will try that one of the days. It is now getting warmer up to plus 12 and no wind. Prince did head out and take down the paddock Xmas lights. We are going to pitch hay now to try and lose some weight on the ponies so he set up a bale on a pallet along the driest part of the yard.. the road.

the splasher

I got busy assembling the quilt rack and sanding/gluing it together ready to paint. (below just temp set together)

Since it was so nice, Prince even scooped some dog piles and wheeled them to the pit. Spring is in the air now folks.

Evening entertainment was the movie Courage, a true football story
