944 - one month till Christmas!!

Day 944 I had the coffee all ready to roll and served the Prince his chalice whilst he rested on his last day home. Britt scurried off to school hoping to start a new not late tradition!! hahaha

I headed to the garage to put 2nd coat of varathane on the dressers. This is the last step before reassembling, wahoo! Sheldon went out to move more dirt and bales and basically play outside as it was a balmy -4 getting up to plus 1 by afternoon. He claims to have sealed the shop so no more magpies in there :-)

Shaina was up at 10:30 and made scrambled eggs for me while she cleaned out the dishwasher.. I know heh!! thanks dude! She then spent time getting ready to head to work for 3.. yes Lynda offered her a few days a week at Target. She is happy to be working again, thanks Lynda!

I put the mirror all back together, staged and posted and it was sold in less than an hour. Time to clear and black wax the growth rulers and hand rub. I also picked my next project, a night table. It required sanding and wood filler, and runner straightening and tightening and hardware removal. I also started drawer repair on another dresser.

After rolling out a bale for the horses and raking the gravel he moved in the shop, he kindly scooped a half 5 gallon pail of dog crap.  Britt hit the couch soon after arriving home while I put the dressers back together.

Sheldon grabbed the tree as requested and it still amazes me that from 3 minutes of opening the box, this is what I had! Can I leave it like this??
After supper I worked some more on the night table, put a clear wax on the one ruler and hanger ready to send off to Edmonton tomorrow. And filled a few places on a magazine rack. Sheldon pitted in for another football game but was lucky enough to win his weekly pool with all his bets. Shaina was home around 11:30 after finishing work and visiting at Gail's.

943 - grey cup Sunday

Day 943. We enjoyed the movie Soul Surfer last night. Britt had come home to grab things and was off to Kira's for a sleepover. A chinook front seemed to blow in -1 when Sheldon got home and up to +4 when the movie ended at midnight. We enjoyed coffee in bed while the sun shone outside.
Sheldon shot coyote off the front deck on his way to skin out the deer.  I painted a mason jar red to go in the crate but the paint was terrible so washed all off, strained the paint and repainted it. I tried the new American Paint dark wax on the grandkids sign after clear waxing first then buffed, added the string, painted the mini clothes pins and staged it for photos.

Britt home just after lunch, for lunch I made the so popular on facebook right now, dill pickle soup! It was very good. After lunch Sheldon and Britt spent a couple hours cutting up the deer meat to freeze for sausage while I continued on projects. I put first coat of varathane on the body of the dressers and 2nd on the tops. I waxed clear then black the entry mirror before buffing and adding a hanger to it too.
I worked in the garage waxing and white washing the green frame, spraying they board for it another time then waxing and putting it together and hanger on the back.
Shaina arrived home tuckered after a hard day and soon was sleeping missing supper and everything. Sheldon hit the theater room and watched the Grey Cup while I started marking the 3 growth rulers. Britt came up to eat and after I started hand painting she offered to help me out. Supper was let overs and a fresh salad. I cannot get enough of my favorite dressing and crumbled soft unripened goats cheese..YUMMY!!
  another amazing sunset
 my apprentice hard at work
Diego and Coco both, along with the cats, had a very filling day but this was Diego yesterday.. packing around this frozen magpie.. clearly he did not catch it, my money is on Mitzy but he proudly hauled it around for a couple days
Seems the Riders won their first home turf Grey Cup.. lots of drunk green in Regina tonight. Sheldon enjoyed even more football following it while Britt and I worked on the growth rulers and watched music awards.

942- more project progress

Day 942, Saturday and awake at 7:45?? why?? Oh yes Sheldon was concerned the cat food stealing magpies may be feasting on his sausage maker! He did make coffee and deliver a steaming cup once back in!
practicing his how to get unstuck skills before leaving

At 10 he was off to help Steve find another deer while I finished updating the blog and staging photos of my latest creations.

then got busy glazing the dressers, adding another coat of stain to the tops and putting first coat of polycrylic on them too.

I also added glaze to Gail's shelf for a bit of dimension
she is using in bathroom for extra toilet paper.. what a great idea I had :-)
I rustled Britt out of bed close to 1 and had her take the dogs for a walk as the day was lovely plus 1 temperature.
I also gave all the white items another coat, painted a small crate as well as another growth ruler as one was warped slightly :-(
I found a small amount of the green I used on the desk so upcylcled a frame into jewelry holder. Britt kindly took me up on my job offer of house cleaning and cleaned 3 main floor bathrooms to a shine. Thanks missy.

Shaina arrived home around 4, nice to see her :-) I was working on my hand painted sign order by a friend.
It was then time I cooked up a delicious supper and once Sheldon arrived home around 6:30 (successful at helping Steve bag his deer) we all ate together, my favorite part of the day!
Shaina was then off to Shannon's to make a tape to submit to Amazing Race Canada and sleepover at 8 after kindly emptying the dishwasher, good luck girls!!. Sheldon sat in front of the fire he built watching hockey as Britt washed pots and pans then was off to the arena to hang out with friends. I finished painting the edge of my sign before updating the blog yet again. Do people who keep a diary spend this much time updating it??
this is my view in the garage, amazing heh?

Kaylin called to say that the lady who drove 8 hours from fort McMurray arrived and picked up her mirror! Awesomeness on both the buyer making the drive and Kaylin for being the drop point!!

941 - mighty hunter scores

Day 941 again brrr cold including 17 in the bedroom! Britt was off to school as usual as we relaxed. Sheldon thought nothing of the cool house temperatures and made coffee. But soon he was up and gathering his hunting gear. The outside temperature was -14 but that did not discourage him. He was loaded up and off around 10.

I got busy in the garage putting first coat of blue on tall dresser and doors, 2nd coat on long dresser and all drawers. Sand 2 growth charts and a new grandkids sign, paint 2 coats of my new paint on two sets of sal and pepper sets,

beach glass color and below the left fresh with wax but it dries to the color on right.. how cool
Shaina pulled in just after Britt arrived home from school then both headed below ground level :-)

I started waxing my spice sets then after a slight panic with the new wax and consult with the dealer I carried on glazing them as well. I painted the mirror, sign and 2 growth rulers there first white coat of paint and painted Gail's shelf too. Such a productive day in the furniture shop!

Britt was off to a hockey game with a friend at 7 and Shaina off to socialize with her peeps at 8!  Sadly Britt got laid off of her job when at the arena :-( this accumulated with a week of lunch hour detentions from being late in the morning 5 times made for a bad week, big hugs B!

Sheldon got home with his big kill (an average 4x3) around 9 bringing a chai tea gift as well. He had a quick chips, salsa and guacamole with me before he went out to hang it in the shop. Time for hot bath and bed after yet another productive day for us both.
