Kaylin learns lash tints and brow lamination

Shaina sent a text at 4:45 am, but I didn't receive it until Kaylin texted at 8. Shaina couldn't board her plane today because Lexi's carrier was declined as too big (something they have warned about in the past), and they neither rescheduled nor issued a refund as she had a basic cheap seat. She was supposed to be Kaylin's eyebrow model, so I'll step in as a backup. After having coffee, Harley's face was treated, she was fed, and I managed to post and share the blue dresser tutorial on all the sites. We also changed the bed linens as Har's sore cheek got blood on Sheldon's side.

S attached the blade to the skid steer and began redistributing the gravel that had spread to the edges back to the center. I had my yogurt bowl brunch then packed up my Costco returns and set off for the city at 11, picking up mail along the way. I arrived early and was soon comfortably settled on the work table. The teachers were very helpful and efficient in their jobs, and in just 2 hours, I had beautifully lifted and tinted lashes, plus a bonus eyebrow tint. A big thanks to K and her teaching staff.

Gail was next in line for brow lamination; I passed her at the door on my way out. I went to Costco, completed my returns, and took my time browsing the store without my shopping assistant. Afterward, I picked up an iced coffee and made my way home. I got there before 5, just as the sun was setting, and S arrived from his hockey game and coffee run, with Cooper in tow.

Burgers sizzled on the BBQ as I prepared creamed beet leaves for the prince, tossed a salad, and warmed the leftover beets for a delicious meal. After completing my Spanish lessons, I shifted focus to marketing and updating the blog while S browsed on his laptop. Harley's food was ordered, and Britt was out before 7:30 with Cooper's dinner, heading out to tend to her horses.

S hadn't completed his road work before hockey, so he went out to finish and store the skid steer. Next, I tackled accounting. S returned quickly and recited the M/C numbers for me. Then, I had to locate a .03 discrepancy. After that, S retired to bed to relax and read his library book. B and Cooper departed for home at 8. Shaina texted that she arrived in Calgary at 8:15; it seems she was rescheduled after all, but without Lexi. S and I watched some Lincoln Lawyer.

Great day for a ride

The extra hour of sleep was a bonus, yet our bodies seem to have their own clocks. Harley, too, who patiently waited until 9, which was the old 10, for her breakfast. I fed her, the cats who had spent the night in the garage, and brought the prince his coffee in bed. Then, I crawled back in to do my Spanish lessons.

Sheldon had a bowl of cereal before heading off to church. I completed my morning marketing, then went to the garage to clean the cabinet hardware. I took a few photos of the recently picked up coffee table, followed by more staged photos of the half-moon table. Sheldon was back from church by 11:30, opting to skip cookies and coffee to work on a document.

B was out with Cooper at 12:30 while S took the skid steer over to Matt's for work. As I cleaned the glass door, she caught Switch, and I joined her at the gate once finished. We saddled up and enjoyed a delightful hour-long ride in the crisp fall sunshine.

All the horses were dewormed. With Harley's assistance, we managed to catch Beibs, and Britt tended to his hooves. B observed a new hot spot on Harley's face, which I had also noticed due to her scratching vigorously on her right cheek in the past few days. Fortunately, we have pet care B. We carefully shaved her face, cleansed the area, and applied a steroid cream.

I began watching the Martha Stewart movie while enjoying a sandwich for a late lunch, as B held Bird's food dish. She wrapped up and left before 3:30, just as S returned from Matt's. He completed the installation of the garden snow fence. After publishing yesterday's blog, I commenced writing today's entry. The cabinet hardware was reattached. S headed out for a hot tub session before 5, while I returned to my blog and continued watching Martha. Quite a life this 82 year old has lived.

After a leftover supper S was off to TV room to watch his beloved Flames. I finished my computer work then crawled into bed and watched Where the Crawdads Sing.

Church Fundraiser

Cooper was sent in the door before 8 as B left for the fall customer seminar. Both dogs began barking just before 9, so I let them out and found Cooper in the field, observing a herd of white-tailed deer — exactly what S was looking for, though not in season. Now it's time to start the coffee and focus on computer marketing, blogging, and accounting while S rests in bed with his phone until 10.

Next, I applied a second coat of paint to the entire cabinet. The drawer was lined with pretty rice paper, cut to size. At 1, I came in to prep vegetables to roast in the oven for soup. S walked the dogs, then drove the final posts for the house paddock's snow fence. I buried the vegetable trimmings in the compost and incorporated the crushed eggshells we had saved in the raised beds. The weather is delightful, sunny with a temperature of plus 6 degrees.

I ironed the drawer paper, then "glued" it in the drawer which always requires a lot of meticulous rearranging. Once in place, I applied the top coat. The tops received an additional coat of black stain oil before I began making the soup. The roasted vegetables were placed into the Vitamix, along with a few more ingredients like coconut milk, and blended together. We had a late lunch at 2:30. S came in from installing the fence mesh and, after enjoying two bowls of soup, settled down with his laptop on the big brown couch. It wasn't long before he fell asleep.

I returned to the cabinet to scrape the excess paint from the glass on the doors. The drawer runners had salve applied to make them slide smoothly. This big project is almost complete. Once S woke up, he went to the hot tub, and I joined him after finishing my task. Then, it was time to shower and prepare for our evening out. 

We left for the 10th annual church fundraiser in town at 5 pm. The evening featured delicious food and a live auction where the items of interest sold for almost triple the prices of last year. A 10-day stay in Palm Springs reached $4,500, up from last year's $2,500, and a 5-course dinner by Father Christino soared to $5,500—he even offered it to the second-highest bidder, raising a total of $11,000, compared to $1,200 the previous year. Sheldon's Slik Services went for $450, lower this year but the last year's person never used their gift certificate. I attempted to stimulate some silent auction bids and managed to only make a single purchase for $5, which resulted in a half-hour wait in the payment line at the end, which was quite amusing. The evening raised almost $30K. We got home by 9:30, crossing paths with Britt who had fed Bird and picked up Cooper. We settled down to watch a couple of episodes of Doctor Odyssey before turning in for the night.

Nov 1 already

The morning began with a dense fog that lingered for hours. S enjoyed his customary porridge, and I prepared a substantial yogurt bowl for our breakfast following the coffees. It's remarkable how much those chia seeds swell and fill you up.

Renn went to school today, but unfortunately, Kaylin and Nathan are unwell, showing symptoms similar to COVID. Hopefully, their illness will be brief.

S assisted me in hoisting the cabinet base and top onto my workbench. Afterwards, he returned to his laptop and crossword puzzle. I proceeded to remove the hardware and shelves, then wood filled in all the dents on the upper section. The glass door required extensive sanding and scraping before it would shut properly. Both the base and the top were sanded—power tools for the former and hand sanding for the latter—then thoroughly cleaned.

S prepared tuna for lunch, so I joined him after making my own sandwich. He left for hockey at 1, while I chatted with Mom K and returned to my cabinet project. I managed to paint the entire cabinet, inside and out, including all the shelves, within two hours.

Finishing up, I stepped inside before 4 for a refreshing drink and to practice my Spanish. I was feeding Harley when S returned before 5 from his third hockey and coffee outing of the week.

I tended to the indoor plants, as it's our Friday routine. S took Har out for a much-needed stroll to the gate and back, then settled back at his laptop. Meanwhile, I whipped up a pot of chili for dinner.

During my evening marketing, I noticed two of my items were featured at one event! The painted pumpkins have been featured three times this week. It seems others like them as well. Meanwhile, I worked on new project tutorials while S enjoyed watching hockey on his laptop at the kitchen island I've crafted an advertisement for the new half-moon table and have disseminated it widely, aiming to stimulate interest. Additionally, I've provided a sneak peek of the cabinet that's currently in progress.

Later, S moved to the TV room to watch hockey on the big screen, and I composed a Hometalk post for the bold floral table. After that, I finished yesterday's blog post, which includes numerous photos and videos that capture the fun. Britt popped out to feed Bird and left after finishing. I took S a bowl of ice cream at the last 6 minutes of the 0-0 game that quickly turned into a 3-0 win for the Flames! Seems cherry chocolate ice cream brought the good luck. I started a new series called Doctor Oddessy on Crave.
