Wind derailed quadding again

I was wide awake after 7 and headed to computer to get the blog from couple days ago posted and worked on a few other things before the prince was up to make coffee around 8:30. The winds were howling once again derailing our plan to go to the mountains ;( After 2 coffees I ran out to feed cats who were out?? I found the back arena door blew open in the wind as to where they got out. The door chain was snapped and an even bigger dent in the siding from the doorknob.  I then got to work rearranging the living room, the only room I can move around in the whole house. S helped with the bigger pieces and was happy to have big brown back to the south with a good TV view. Vacuuming was finished around the great room and put away. I always love a new layout.

S fried hot dogs planned for the outing for lunch then contacted a solar buyer and worked out our last year of use and extra sent to the grid. I bottled kombucha then made a strong tea and left it to rest having too much on hand. It was disappointing the winds continue with no reprieve even though it hit about 10 degrees. Being forced to stay inside did lead to putting together an updated task/goal list and idea conversations. Harley was given an esophagus to go power down outside.

Bison rib eye Steak was cooked in high winds, thanks S! I prepped veggies to go with it for an enjoyable meal. We were finishing up when B arrived to feed the horses. She popped in for a short visit then off for home. As blustery as it is H needed her walk so S again reluctantly joined me to walk. I fed the cats, locked them up then we headed west to tree line and along the trees to the gate where I found a parcel for Shaina. We reversed back along the trees and back to the house.

Back in the house we donned our swimsuits, filled a water bottle and made our way out to the hot tub but found the wind had picked up even more and seeing it was blowing from the west we decided not to get in after opening the lid and worrying the rest may blow open. S started watching the Flames late game from big brown as I made us a smoothie and typed blog. He moved to our bed to watch with me joining and started Turning Red on my iPad but switching to Home Edit but I got dozy and fell asleep. I drifted hearing the rain patter a bit on the windows then dried quickly with the wind and S's excitement when the Flames won in overtime ;)

Fox & coyote chases

I slept in till after 8 but awoke with a headache again, S slept till after 10! Coffee was served before 10:30 with plans to head to the mountains today with the Ranger. We were having a coffee in the living room when I looked out to see a fox coming along south fence line towards the shop. S ran to get his gun, snuck out front door and took a shot. The shot missed so he hustled around the shop in his housecoat to find the fox still nearby, he fired again with a hit but not fatal. He had to come back for more ammo, changed to PJs and a coat and set off again to take a few sniper shoots then to retrieve the ranger to follow the fox south. Britt and Cooper arrived while he was doing so and it seems Cooper took off after the fox. Coop returned with blood on his face/paws that had B alarmed.

B lunged Roo, once S was back having solved the fox issue, I took the cats food. We decided not to go to the mountains as it was cold out at only plus 2 with a breeze. I got busy doing more laundry and rug cleaning, this time trying the stairs but not much luck as awkward. Once back in for more coffee S had some left over Chinese for lunch. Mom popped out with Tim's for us all at 1:30, THANKS!! I prepped short ribs for supper while we visited. B went out to feed and came back in to say Cooper had set off after a coyote who was in the field to the north!! H chased for only a short way :) Wow what a busy day for the 4 legged infiltrators. Mom was off in an hour to town to take Dad for ice cream then get ready to head home.

S helped me move the coffee table then a rest in big brown. I took couch apart and vacuumed well and the area rug then got to cleaning it, YUCK! B did more things with the horses before heading home. S loaded the ranger in the dump trailer and ran to town to fill it with fuel, grab some groceries and get oil for Sadie. I continued on with cleaning the carpets in the basement again with loads of dirty water.

Once back after 6 I added the carrots and potatoes to the ribs and S went to change the oil. I went to help him finish up and bring car back to garage before we ate the yummy ribs late after 7. H was missing her walk and me my steps so S joined us in a 1.6 mile loop in the dusk to dark followed by a hot tub. Back inside S was surprised to find his blood pressure was very low for him and even had to take it 3 times to be sure :)  we then watched a couple Vikings; Valhalla before lights out.

Sleepless night

Sleep eluded me last night and once asleep with a sleeping pill after 2:30 I was awake at 5:30. I listened to some podcasts and such until S got up and made coffee after 8:30.

I bathed Harley up after starting laundry. Jarrod's hired man had issues finding our place but eventually made it to load and borrow the tree spade. I took the cats soft food and opened the door while S and the guy visited. It was breezy but sunny so I carried on scooping loads more poop around the yard.

Once the guy was off he was off to finished scooping the arena then moved the dump trailer to load the piles in the winter pasture. I started working on the transfer on the end table before Mom and Dad stopped out to have me scrub up a table that has seen better days. They also checked out the new hot tub and had a short visit before heading back for lunch. Then I was back to the end table transfer.

I took H for our perimeter walk as S finished scooping piles and returning the equipment back to the house. He had lunch and I went out to enjoy the fabulous sunshine in the hot tub. S joined me after he ate and B arrived as we were soaking up the rays before 2. She caught and rode Bird. I hauled the now dry table outside to power sand the yucky old finish and mold marks off. The skies darkened to the west so I hauled it in.

B moved on to riding Roo and S packed up and headed off in the merc at 3. B and Coop were off as I was starting to clean our bedroom rug with Paetz's steam cleaner as wind picked up and rain started to pummel the windows. The water was filthy when dumped, 11 years is too long not to clean them :)

S returned at 5 with Chinese food for supper then got on the horn with Craig for another lengthy chat while I caught up the blog. Once he was off the phone, we hit the hot tub for the second time today. The skies darkened to the west again and the winds picked up chasing us inside at 8 just in time for the Flames game. I made popcorn to go with the beers S poured up. He then went to the TV room to watch and I to bed to work on nutrition course online but tuckered out around 10 but was awake after S came to bed not long after so listened to some podcasts.

April Fool's Day

I was wide awake at 7, H had slept in the garage and not made a peep, I let her in out after 7 to do her thing then back to garage till breakfast before 9. In the meantime S woke at 9 and made coffee.

Harley has a love hate with pressure washer, shop vac and house vacuum

His morning chore was to pressure wash the bison heads while I put a coat of purple paint on the end table. After lunch and a rest for the prince We (inc H) headed to town at 1:30 to get fuel, look for thick rope for the bison horns, grab a faucet kit then pick up Cooper at B's request. Back at the ranch the pups were off to play.

I started work on creating an Etsy post for the wood crate but needed another photo so staged it up and a few more of the tea post to make a post soon too.

S started pushing old hay in the pasture/paddocks into the pit and piles while I took the dogs for a 2 miles loop then to garage where I added another purple coat to the end table. I then got dressed for the Roughnecks game as S scraped behind the shop paddock. He changed, we had a beverage and chat before H & C were fed and we headed to the city.

entry video

It has been years since we have been to a lacrosse game and it was a great one at that going into sudden death overtime where they won. Back at the ranch around 10 we hit the hot tub. Back in bed I started a couple new series, I tried Taboo but too out there so switched to a Spark Joy but hate reading Japanese subtitles so watched a new season of Home Edit.
