Thelma & Louise road trip

We were up and out by 7:30 but missed the fabulous sunrise everyone was posting on Facebook as we were back in the garage doing the paint around the cart top edges. H was off leash while I let J out and now let the kittens free roam the shop. H had breakfast via her feeder ball while I painted the edges the 1st concealer coat then we came in to have my cappuccinos and do a bit of marketing. Back to the garage, H played in the garage bringing me her stuff while I painted the tea cart in a warm white then distressed the edges when dry. The top had another coat of stain applied.

I loaded up Miss Harley, some cheezies and we were out the gate just after 11:30. I went thru town swinging thru the Tim’s that gives puppy timbits and got a hot chai for the drive and 2 Timbits for my travel buddy. Then it was on the road. Driving the QE2 is like playing Mario Kart lol I managed to set the cruise for 116 KPH and hardly ever had to break or speed up, just move left and right ;) I even passed about 4 cops along the route with no phasing of the speed.

This nice speed and leaving early has us arrive early in Ponoka by 2 pm. Now to sit and wait (although I had to use the bathroom after the tea as did H in their gravel area) and after the scheduled 2:30 the vet and rescue owner came out, looked at her and said WOW she looks great, better then the photos lets not do anything seeing that eye has had so much poking and prodding. WHAT!!! I asked the gal outright saying I did not want to drive all that way, take the day off work and just have a quick check, She assured me they were leaning towards Sedating and draining the puffy left eye. I am glad it looks good but maybe ask for more photos and videos! They did remove the stitch in the right eyes weigh her (36.5 kg) and clean her ears as I was chatting to the rescue owner while waiting for her records. I checked out their toys then we were on our way.

Wanting to make the trip a bit more effective I looked thru their mission thrift store with only a wee teal glass dish then grabbing something to eat. It was after 3 and the DQ was the slowest line so I got out of it and went thru Tims again. Stopping at UFA to add some fuel was next before back on the road and heading south. Again we passed at least 3 more cops with stings set up along the way. As we were passing Irvine’s Tack I called to see if they had dog toys and allowed dogs in the store. The answer was Yes so made a stop there walking her around the property hoping for a bathroom break but it was too busy. Inside the huge store H did amazing with folks commenting on her presence. Before 5:30 we were back on the road and to the ranch 7 hours after leaving.

A couple more loads of dirt were delivered today. Time to feed miss H with a search, burn off energy and potty break, we put the kittens away along with J. Inside I heated up and ate the soup from my late lunch order. Britt and Cooper were here after 7 for a fun play date then they were off and we finished up then came inside. Tonight I put her to bed in the garage at 8, came in for a shower, changed my bedding and crawled in to relax and watch videos and some Netflix.

Working on a project

Why do I wake at 4-5-6-7 and clock watch? I want to sleep till 7 and go from there :) Anyway I was up after 7 and took out miss H. This off leash is not always working as there was a nest of dead mice she found in the mowed east pen awhile back but today off leash she found it again and grabbed a dead mouse. Of course when I said to drop it and come to get it she ran and thought it was a blast. I am not sure if she actually swallowed it as I was trying to turn and run other way to get her to follow then back and when I got her it was not to be seen ;/ So we went and got the leash to go get J and do a poop scoop loop.

Breakfast was mixed up with a bit of frozen kong while I got blog up and a FB post then out to do some training and eating. We ran quick to storage trailer to double check a piece then back to garage where I scrubbed up the tea cart.

While the tea cart dried I came in and wrote a tutorial for the green S&P set while H napped on her cushion. I put the chicken bones on to make soup too. A fellow came out from Calgary to buy a large armoire I decided not to paint after 11:30. I opened the yard gate, helped him and his son load it up and they were off. The kitties were moved up stairs for the day.

eye update.. good thing going to vet tomorrow to get the low down

After a piece of leftover sausage for lunch H and I went out for a loop around the south and west fences on a long line for some recall training. Of course J had to follow along. We checked the dirt piles being dumped as the dirt guy was here again at noon.

slowly but surely the pit is getting fuller

see the wee nails the fellow put in around the spokes? then I wood filled some chipped out areas

Back to the house it was time to get to work on the tea cart. I did some repairs, edges sanded then started putting on the first coat of concealer. I took a break when I saw Cooper out the window at 2:30.

He and H had a grand old play time till they left after 3. Watch the 3 video series below.

We headed back to the garage to continue work on the tea cart why H snoozed till 5:30 when I fed H then came in to finish the soup. I had lots of leftovers to add so was pretty easy after the bones were picked. It tasted delicious!

Time then to work on tutorials and the blog. After hoping for soup H finally went back to sleep. It is pitch black by 7:30. Again H did not want to go out so before 8 I went and put the kittens and their goodies back in the stall taking J over as well and feeding him and putting away for the night. Once I was back she was up so took her out for her evening loop then to the garage where I put the first coat of stain on the top. To avoid the smell all night I brought her into the office kennel for the night then I was off to bed watching various shows till after 10.

21 degrees, I'll take it

The wind was a bit blustery but the day looks like another lovely one ahead as we did our loop, breakfast search and kitty care. I put the kittens upstairs for the day as they are finally gaining weight and love to run. I have increased Harley's food amount which in turn has increased her pooping, 3 in the first loop. Today I cracked the second dog food bag. The first lasted just over 3 weeks. Back on the deck H laid in the sun for a bit. I watched from the window often to see her interaction with J as I worked on the blog with my cappuccino.

This was funny when J offered to give Harley a massage like he used to to big D. Video below

Sharon had invited me for coffee and I totally forgot till she text after 9. I hurriedly got dressed, put H in her kennel with her frozen treats and headed over before 10. This is the FIRST time I have left her alone with no one. Sharon and I had a good 2 hour visit and I was back after 12 to a resting puppy.

Outside we went for 2 more poops!! Fresh water was put in her bucket and the 2 planters watered too.

It is so nice to still have blooms and warm weather, this was a year ago on the 8th.

I looped the yard scooping poop and picked a zucchini, production is almost finished but I cant pull them while they still try. :) Time to head in and have a tuna sandwich then work on the blog.

Dog training lesson #3 is today at 3 so I loaded up the turquoise growth ruler and Harley and we were off after 2. I noticed the dirt guy had dumped a load I totally missed seeing him come in and out. We arrived at lessons again 15 minutes early and had to wait around. Lessons were a review then working on a new one H had a poop mid walk which stopped all lesson activity till cleaned up and bleached. Then we worked on stay & recall before class ended.

She and I were back to Strathmore by 4 dropping off a letter in the mail then to Britt's to let Cooper out. I swung thru Tim's a grabbed an ice cap and a muffin as it was a warm 21 but WINDY day. Last stop was to drop off the turquoise growth ruler and get the $$ for the pink one.

Back at the ranch by 4:30 and inside for a rest for H and me to do a bit of marketing then out for her supper with some training practice for food at her usual 5:30 ish feed time.

These are the repaired wheels B brought last night from customer drop off and below is Stolz's new sign hung.

I went with a vegetarian for supper and was just eating my corn on the cob when B & C arrived at 6. She was feeding Bird when H and I went out. I took the 2 dogs to the east pasture to play then we went to the barn captured the kitties and moved all the food, water and litter back to the stall and B was off to a condo board meeting. H and I went and got J and put him away for the night opening his food cabinet. On route back to the house she had poop #8, Holy crap increasing her food by 1 cup and having the soaked frozen kong really loosens this girl up.

Inside she relaxed on her bed while I wrote the blog and watched videos. Around 8:30 I coerced her literally out of the kennel she had just moved to from her bed to go to sleep and out for a potty break. She peed and thankfully seemed out of poop for the day but we did play fetch with the ball and laid on the grass in the beautiful now windless night. So glad it is not snowy like last year. Back inside and to bed for her and not long after for me for some video viewing. Tonight was a change of pace to Etsy & social media tips.

Horses get teeth done

Another early to bed early to rise. I was awake at 6 and could not fall back asleep but I did lay there till 7. H and I went out to do her thing, play a bit, let out J then serve breakfast. It was a damp dewy windows fogged kinda morning. Inside I did some computer catch up till S made coffee. He then sat on the deck with H & J enjoying the sunshine.

this was last year

He hooked up the truck and trailer as I am taking 4 horses to Moore's today for teeth and delivering the 4 farmhouse chairs. He then was off to Britt's after 9 to try and get the tap to not leak as unsuccessful in his attempt yesterday. H was sleeping on the deck so I went and finished removing the old finish off the tea cart top and hand sanding it. Then it was time to load all the videos for yesterdays post and get it published.

I hauled out the chairs to the horse trailer and loaded in the kennel in case H needed to stay in it when at the vets. I was digging dandelions in the flower bed when S returned after 11 with a pumpkin spice tea and muffin. Inside to enjoy it while continuing the laundry I had on the go.

S had some leftover sausage for lunch, we watched some of the news with S from big brown. B text we could get in earlier so I headed out to catch the horses. S backed up the truck then came to help catch and closed the closest paddock gate just as the dirt guy pulled into the yard at 1. I loaded the horses then Harley and we were off. It was a lovely sunny day at 25.

Look at this huge rock chip

We arrived at 2. B and I unloaded the horses and took into the exam room and S set off. He delivered my chairs to the lady and then to get the HUGE rock ding in his window. The horses had their teeth done quicker then last time as only tweaks and Switch had her eyes checked. All were done by 3:30. B and I took them out to a stall and I waited for S to arrive. The day had turned gloomy with threatening clouds and a pile of wind. He pulled in after 4, I lifted Harley out and walked quick as he and B loaded the horses, B helped me lift in big H and off we went. I was now in the drivers seat hauling the big rig thru the ghost town airport dropping the frequent flyer at his door just before 4:30. This day worked out really well for all these appointments.

video : the gang all in the exam room

S delivery proof for the customer, thank you!

The tea cart gal missed us though to drop off the repaired wheels but she did leave at Moore's for Britt to bring. The HUGE crack was not fully fixed as time ran out but will get finished in the future. The wind was behind me most of the way but when coming from the side it was a doozy. Back at the ranch about 5:15 Roo was waiting, I unloaded and put the horses in the paddock then unloaded miss H. She has a good bladder as never went at Moore's and had stayed in the truck all that time.

Now to unload the frozen treats I packed and her kennel and get it reset up in the garage and fed her supper. I ate the little bit of leftover chicken & potatoes then H and I went for a walk in the east pasture. We were on our way back when Britt and Coop arrived. I was dog lady while B gave the last 3 horses their dewormer having tested Switch while at vets today. She fed Bird to which we watched before walking to open the paddock gate and have the horses blast by us. J was put in for the night and the townies were off. Back inside H crashed in her kennel as I showered then did a bit of computer work. Again she was not interested in going back out at 8:30 so into bed I crawled to watch some YouTube after a very long day for us both.

K sent these pics from her birthday party, great decorating Devon
