Back To Work

Vacation is over folks, back to work day. Last coffee served in bed at 9 then a quick pack up for S, he has appointments in the city before his flight. He loaded up the kids table set and his tires along with his breakfast to go and was on his way at 10. And what a sight with 4 tires poking out the trunk tied down with a bungee strap LOL

I got to work answering a couple emails and doing a bit of marketing before headed to the garage to get a project going. I chose the hand made record cabinet. The hardware and legs came off, followed by a power sand and scrub. (3rd column 2nd down)

While it dried I popped inside and found I had another Etsy sale!! Wahoo. I got the grey Bombay chest all packaged up carefully and labelled ready to go tonight when I run to town for a buffet I won in a bid while on vacation ;)

The first coat of dark blue went on the cabinet. I posted more items for sale on market sites. I headed to town around 4:30 stopping to feed Bones for Stouts (my chore for the week) then to town to drop my Etsy parcels at the post office.

I was to pick up the sideboard after 5 but had not heard back so stopped at Amanda's. The kids were their usual chatty energetic selves. Amanda had a delicious stew I was invited to join them for supper, thanks!! The seller messaged offering to deliver the sideboard seeing I had no help to unload, thank you! Craig made it home after 6 but I only had a few minutes to chat before I raced home to meet the fellows delivering the sideboard.

It took no time to unload and off they went leaving me to put a second coat of paint on the cabinet. It is wedged between car and table so cant get a photo to share but it is a beauty. Then it was a couple hours + of writing more Hawaii blog posts while watching Netflix.

Snowy Sunday

Another slow start to the day but this one eventually involved coffee, at 10:30 ;) The snow was still falling lightly and around -2 but a big change from 30 every day for sure. I got back to marketing and trying to arrange the potential sales. The kids table will be picked up from a meeting spot after S's first appointment in the city tomorrow. The Etsy sale of a tin tile needed a choice of which one and once she did I got it all packaged up to go to Florida. I finished writing a blog post for the little white stool and got it published and put on a couple pages.

Time for a bit of housework; vacuuming the main floor and plant watering. The lamp sales lady was a no show and looks like meeting tomorrow wont work either, hmmm. S cooked us BLT's for lunch spending his morning catching up on internet things, watching football and unpacking his suitcase. He did head out after 2 to roll a bale for the horses, shovel the snow covered walks and bring me the Christmas tree. I got it set up for him to take the box back... if I could only leave it like this HAHAHA.

Back inside for a beer and more football, S did grease the front door knob that has been acting up before heading to the TV room to watch his beloved Flames game. I continued my blog and marketing work for the evening. Looks like we missed getting together with Shaina but she says she will facetime once there ;)

Wow, what a great sleep finally. I woke at 9 feeling like I never moved then fell back asleep. S was having nasal congestion issues and up at 11 to let out Lola and blow his nose then both back to sleep until I awoke at 11. That felt great. Prince kept sleeping and finally got mobile before noon but NO COFFEE today!! Snow was softly coming down and about -2.

I got busy loading, sorting and editing pictures (from 3 sources) and getting a couple days of the trip blog finished and posted. It is allot of work but sure makes for a nice diary for us to look back on and hopefully give you an insight to our trip and what the big island has to offer.

After perusing the net for the afternoon, S got dressed and unhooked the truck from the trailer and ran to town after 4. He took along the Etsy parcel to Australia for me to the post office and grabbed a few groceries and back after 5. Sadly it is dark by 5 now ;(  I had put in a chicken to roast for our supper complete with mashed potatoes and gravy. Shaina and Jacob leave for Vietnam on Monday for 3 weeks, we hoped they might come for supper tonight before they leave but maybe tomorrow.

After supper it was time for a nap for the big guy, this vacationing is sure hard on him ;) I got back to the photo editing and sorting and trip blogs. I am happy to say I have the kids table set sold pending pick up and an Etsy sale for a wood tile just came thru and a lady wanting to come tomorrow to pick up both lamps. Fingers crossed they all pan out. When he awoke S was off to the TV room for sports. Time to unpack my suitcase, the condo had laundry so it is nice to have all clean things to put away. And the Baileys and Kahlua survived the flight and my sand even though both bags were searched by TSA.

Kona Tips

After packing, remove half of what you packed as you probably wont wear it. Bathing suits and shorts with a nice dress/ shirt for guys is all you need.

Buy a big jug of water at trip start if you are used to good RO water, we drank the tap water but it tastes "chlorinated". Maybe we would have drank less beer had we had good water ;)

Look around at menus and prices in the busy areas, you will find quite a variety of selection and prices.

Take your cooler to get groceries, Kona is 30+ everyday

Binoculars... take them if you have them

Rent a Jeep and don’t be afraid to drive it... there is lots more to see then on the paved paths

SKIP - road to the sea, miollii , Whittington,

With a beach umbrella you can sit on any beach, if you like some shade like me you will find many o the beaches may not have many shade spots

Costco is the cheapest place on the island for gas and food, booze and snacks. If the sea food display is up buy as it is short lived and packaged salads sell out so get it when you see it.

Mantra rays are best seen from below.. so dive if you want the best seat

There are more beaches then you can see in probably 3/day for a month ;) If you want to go to green sand beach and have a jeep and good driver ..go and stay high closest to the fence line. if you are worried/have no insurance/ pay the runners the $20/person to take you, I would never walk it.

Tropical dreams ice cream in Hawi is yummy and the point up there is worthy the drive. The donkey station just before sells yummy ginger lime aid

Booze is cheap like rest of USA, by end of our 12 days we donated 90 beer cans, 6 henry hard sodas, 1 regular rum, 1 jumbo baileys and 2 pre mixed margarita bottles, 2 pina coloda mix, 4 large juice containers to the condo recycling fund. It is so good to see they recycle on the island.
