wind cloudy with a touch of sun

Headache kinda day and the wind did not help. Coffee served in bed for last day of the week as Prince is off today for the north. Before running to town we headed out. S got bales down and tossed one to the horses while I watered the garden and new tree and only 2 surviving peonies. We were off to town to pick up furniture at noon. Unfortunately the cabinet was MDF but seeing the fellow held it for me I took it and while S went in to get take out Vietnamese I posted it on the free site and had a taker before he got back to the truck. ;)

There was some cute staging items so not a total waste. We met AJ to get Asher's book he forgot on the w/e then ran a few errands and headed home to eat. The cabinet was picked up promptly. After a rest S was off to the airport around 2 and seeing I still had the dang headache I kicked back to catch Ellen. No luck, time to head to the garage to work on the frame the lady wanted. I removed the velvet edge, yeah but she decided she needs to see it in person so it is back on hold. A brief rain squall rolled thru but very short lived.

Outside I moved a rose bush that was small and in not the right spot then watered them in well. B was home at 7 and hit the couch and fell asleep in short order. Seems we all need some catch up sleep.

Here are a couple pictures I missed sharing this last while

Shaina's bday!

So funny how the brain works, no Britt getting ready for work or S off for an early flight or kids arriving early but I was wide awake at 7:30. I chatted with the dogs and let them out and headed back to bed, eventually got back to sleep til 9 ;)

Today is Shaina’s 24th birthday, happy cake day Dudie!! XOXO

I started organizing my recent purchases and pieces in the garage, Prince came out and sorted recyclables then we headed outside.

It was very blustery out but on the plus side, less mosquitos. S worked in the shop and I worked in the yard. I transplanted an evergreen tree by the shop. Fingers crossed it grows as the spot has had 2 shrubs not grow in the past.

Back inside I cleaned house, put on a roast for supper and made brownies for the birthday supper. S put wire up on the south rail as they are pushing over get grass on the other side and cracking rails.
Britt was back home before 4:30 from the Banff bday celebration. She hit her room to “clean” as I went out to ride Switch and practice for the ASH show I signed up for June 30. She did take the brownies out for me since I was riding ;). I mixed food for the two and she did come watch her slow poke finish up so I could come in and shower. S showered too after he finished up the wire work.

Shaina was planning to arrive at 6:30 but fell asleep and did not leave the city till 7 so we had a late supper at 8. She brought along a friend named Jacob. Kaylin had to work at 5 so could not join us. After supper, Britt caught 3 horses and they all went for a ride.

the ponies left behind exercised themselves

Britt came back once the other 2 headed out to the winery. Once they were back we all had birthday brownies to celebrate. They played pool before Shaina and Jacob headed back to the city at 11. B and Cooper were off to bed while Sheldon and I watched another Handmaidens Tale episode before calling it a night.

3 little ranch hands

I was awake at 6 and watched the clock off and on till after 7 when I fell asleep again only to wake with a start at 7:30 and the Paetz kids were not here yet. Amanda had text they were aiming for 7:15. I quickly brushed my teeth and soon they were here just running late.

Mr J gets a good morning rub

The kids had a busy morning playing and helping feed the horses hay then Sheldon hauled out the lacrosse sticks to teach them the game.

Arch went to sleep after lunch for almost 3 hours. S had a nap too while Asher watched a few super hero episodes and Ada and I went to watch B ride then fed the 2 mares their herb mix. The day had turned sunny now and eventually hit 23. After Archer woke we all headed outside again for fresh air and play. Britt was off to meet Kaylin after her work shift and head to Banff to meet Shaina and more girlfriends for her birthday celebration.

After his nap, S went out to finish the wall in the barn

Amanda and Craig were back by 4:30 so Sheldon made spaghetti and pizza for supper. The hockey game of course was on too. The troops loaded up at 8:30 and headed home, S went to the TV room and I worked on blog posts. I created a stencil tips & projects one and got it posted on a few places.

love the sound and smell of rain

The sound of rain going to sleep and waking up is most welcome. B was off at 7 and I got up to make coffee at 8. Debby and I visited until she was off to her 30 year reunion w/e. The rain let up not long after I got up but when Sheldon finally rose at 10:30, he checked the rain gauge to find 6/10ths!! of happy dance.

Cooper finally ventured out around 2:30 now that the sun occasionally broke thru. While he was out enjoying his patrol with Lola, Sheldon and I ran to town to pick up some tables I won via auction, first stop the dump to unload recyclables now the sun was out. Next to town to do some quick banking and returns, including another great warranty score with a NEW solar electric fencer from UFA,  grab an ice cap and head back home by 5:30.

B was home from work just before 7 catching the tail end of the supper. She then fed the 2 girls and showered up for another movie date night back in the city leaving by 9. Sheldon had went out to hang the charger toss a bale then he and I unloaded the tables to the garage. Perfect timing as a rain cloud unloaded just after they were in with the sun shining. SO pretty!

We started a new series called The Handmaids Tale by Canadian author Margret Atwood, it is rather different but we will give it a try

Forgot to share we are doing a trial on a homemade "round up" and so far it is working really well.

How to Make Your Own Cheap, Organic Weed Killer With Just 3 Ingredients

It may sound too simple to be true, but you really can make your own incredibly effective weed killer using just 3 ingredients you probably have in your kitchen right now.
White vinegar. Simple ordinary distilled white vinegar with 5% acidity is super cheap and works extremely well. The higher the acidity the better, as it will work faster the more acidic it is, but in the end, the results will be the same – dead weeds.
Table salt. All you need is the cheapest salt there is – not anything fancy like rock salt, sea salt or Epsom salts, just your basic iodized or unionized table salt. That’s it.
Dishwashing soap. The brand doesn’t really matter, and all you need is a few drops. The dishwashing liquid is used in order to break the surface tension of the white vinegar so that it will stick to the weeds and force them to more readily absorb it.
1 gallon vinegar : 2 cups salt : 1/4 cup dish soap
