date night

Kaylin was up an out the door @ 6:30 for her shift then flight to Montreal, exciting day for her ahead. Shaina was up later and out the door at 8:30 for her shift. Sheldon was off for a load of water before 9 when Marissa was off to town. He started pumping water when back then worked on installing another hitching rail in the barn as his days project running for another load of water after lunch.

hitching post extended and additional beams on the back added too

I worked on benches getting the one I started yesterday finished with more poly & black wax detailing.

The two others that were called right away were done complimentary colors, One more blues and greens and one white and green. My new sander came in handy buffing them up and the white one even got its first coat of poly.

The dining table was sanded and another coat of ebony on and I used the rag to touch up the edges again on the benches. It was another warm day at 27, still no rain in sight. ;(

Time to come in at 3:30 to shower and get ready for date night. We met Stouts at the gate and headed into tour new brewery in town, Origin Malting & Brewing,  for 4 hours of fun catching up. The food truck today had quite the variety, I went with safe bison burger and S had the chicken waffles. Who knew blueberries and jalapenos would be on a burger.

We set off then to Paetz's, who were off to Oyen, to watch the last 3 episodes of Game Of Thrones. Hmmm quite the cliff hanger season ending. Kaylin messaged she safely arrived in Montreal at 11 but sadly forgot her library book on the plane. Done at midnight we headed home. Britt was home in bed, Shaina rolled in just before 1 after heading to the city after work to visit friends.

windy smoky but warm day

Today is a smoky hazed windy but hot day. Sheldon was off to get a load of water before 10 again and got it on the east trees. I got to work on projects having a great day, the benches were all sanded. One got a full milk paint job with green, driftwood and buttermilk coats while the other 2 got a bit of the left over black stain and green milk paint added.

The dining table was sanded and another coat of ebony applied. But the main project was the mirror I recently bought. Natasha has been looking for one for their new house in their main bathroom. She loved it and wanted it done to match her quartz. I sanded, added fresco chocolate then a couple coats of cream, sanded, dark wax detailing and finally gold gilding paint highlights.

Sheldon putzed in the shop then flood watered the last tote of water on the island and picked dandelions. I helped him collect them and toss to the happy ponies. Shaina was home around 12:30 to change and head to work for 1. As I was painting I heard Lola launch off the deck in hot pursuit. Grabbing hte binoculars I indeed saw a coyote crossing the east end. Calling Sheldon, he ran to grab his rifle, jumped on the quad and set after. He took a shot and after heading out to check, it was a confirmed hit (via a cell pic) claiming 500 yards accuracy. ;)

We loaded up the recyclables and he was off to town before 3 to take them and the stack of goodies to take it or leave it, grab groceries, more tools, pick up a dresser for me and get water on his way back.

I finished the mirror up and tried to stage pictures, oh my mirrors are hard to photograph. But hopefully you get the idea. Prince was back just before 6 unable to get water yet again. We unloaded the dresser and groceries and then it was watch the news in the A/C for Prince as it hit 31 yet again. He picked me up a new sander too :)

Britt was home for supper quick then off to her dog sitting overnight duties. Now this is the babysitting she loves, lucky Duke. Kaylin was home after 7:30 with an oil filter for Dad to change for her but again they sold her the wrong one. He ran to town to exchange while she ate supper then got her packing done for her Montreal trip tomorrow and soaked in the tub. I went out and sanded the one bench with my new sander then sealed it with an antique tough coat. Not sure I am loving it of course cause yellows and greens which are not my color loves, will see in the am.

Shaina was home from work around 9 and Sheldon finished up the oil change as I was coming in around 9:30 too.

Harvest full moon

Sheldon was off for a load of water before 10, it takes about 45 minutes for each load, then set it up to run on the north side of the house this time. I worked in the garage organizing, purging and sweeping. Prince put together another smaller bench for me as I sanded and filled some major gouges on yesterday's creation after scrubbing it earlier. I watered the garden and brought in fresh beets for supper.

Before our late lunch I finally decided to do the dining table top in ebony stain so it got its first coat. S had his usual "grampa nap" after lunch as I got back to filling the newest bench gouges and sanding. Once up he did cut a board for a new bench design, unfortunately the saw dust landed on my table ;(

He then put another small bench together, I think he actually is enjoying creating this rustic benches.

It is another HOT day hitting 31, after a cold beer break S ran for another load of water. Shaina arrived home with my bowling balls I found on Kijiji, an alley was changing out balls and he gave me 6! Thanks to him and Shaina. I was pretty stoked and set some out to try for weight, yep they should not blow away. Lexi loved chasing one around the garage floor too.

I scrubbed up the 2nd bench after sanding.

Shaina was off to town at 6 to help Lynda with boot camp, next week she will be a paid teacher! I finished my vacuuming I started this am when I moved the old computer back to my desk. I moved my recently painted pieces down stairs and got the MCM nightstand at the door. Today I had the actual dresser get a deposit to hold it and a gal wanting the nightstand coming from Edmonton on Friday! I staged a few pics of the metallic table while cleaning.

B was home before 7 to join us for a harvest supper; roasted beets from my garden and sauteed tops, hutterite corn, corn salad (yes corn overload), quinoa & homemade sausage. She was then off to try and get to bed early needing some sleep. Shaina got hers when back after 8. Ok that is when I remembered the beets in the oven but I had shut it off so they were warm for Shaina ;). Sheldon made a run for water but after hooking up and waiting , Marissa never turned it on. I went out and filled the 2nd benches gouges and set out Kaylin and my crystals as tonight if the full harvest moon. The full moon is supposed to rejuvenate all the crystals energy. Shaina was changed and off to the city after 9 to meet Kaylin and look at a house at 10 and another in the morning so will be staying in the city again at Brad's condo.

metallic table created

B has to work today as they did not need her Saturday but she needs the $$. She was off bright and early. Kaylin was to start at 7 but when Lexi was not in my bed by then I went to check on her. She had rearranged her start time for 9:30 as she has an appointment in the city at 6:30 so kept her end time and it close together. I made her coffee then a weaker pot for myself. I did deliver one to the Prince in bed before 9 when Lexi and I went to see about miss Shaina getting up for her 10 am shift.

I got started on the small table I put the grip on yesterday. It had many coats starting with bronze, black then silver and once dry a few clear coats throughout the day. The hardware was updated too

I also added some metallics to the cream jars I painted yesterday. Sheldon took a trip to Matt's to get a load of water and started watering the trees and grass. He fit in a few naps between resets.

Watching the news today and seeing a post on FB confirmed that I too saw the meteorite blast thru the sky last night. I thought it was lightening and was like yeah, rain! Dang. S went after his after lunch nap to Matt's but no one home to turn pump on so returned and made another bench for me. I was watering the garden with hopes of a couple more zucchinis but think that ship may have sailed.. 4 it is for the year ;) The temperature hit 27 today and things are drying up even more.

Shaina popped home after work to change and was off to the city meeting S on his way back with another load of water and another nap.. sheesh work must have been busy this past week up north.  I worked on a pile of paint blogs like the wooden canisters, the spray painted items (which actually was done and posted Sunday) and the cloche  as well as 3 others yet to be published while the Prince napped. GG Kuhn's lazy cabbage roll casserole was my creation for supper. Britt was home at 7, she and I ate while Prince continued to nap. Shaina and Kaylin are staying in the city tonight. Once awake he swapped the water, ate and spent the evening stretched out hitting the sheets early. Tough week makes for a sleepy day.
