things to do

Typical sprig weather in the foothills, today was a warm sunny day. We got it rolling catching up over a coffee. Sheldon was off to town before noon to repair or replace the rental garage door opener. Turns out it was replace. I got to work on putting 2nd coat of white on vanity, a couple coats of light blue inside roll top desk and left all to dry while I went out in the 12 degree sunshine. The mineral tubs were added too putting out one of the new ones then I trimmed all the apple trees per Mom's information.

Back inside it was time to sand and hemp the milk painted pieces. Britt rolled in at 6:30 with her moved home items. Sheldon was back not long after and harrowed the one paddock closest to the house. Britt and I ran to town for her to practice for her driving test tomorrow grabbing a Tim's to enjoy while doing so.

Back home Sheldon was watching the flames game.  I wiped my oiled pieces and put a coat of poly on the vanity top. Britt headed to Beauty and the Beast with her friend Jason at 9. Time for another soak to ease this darn cold.

sick day of sorts

It seems my cold progressed to achy bones, stuffed/runny nose and had me awake at 1 am. I could not get to sleep so watched a few more episodes till after 4

We awoke to the ground covered in snow and gloomy start to the week. I got the coffee rolling more help my throat then anything. My table customer was to arrive at 10 which she did with fair warning that today I was even more under the weather. Her pickup was quick.

Britt was up gave Coco a quick bath, pitched hay to horses for me and fed the cats before she was on her way. She took Coco along for a planned photo shoot and took the truck to mover her furniture home.

I crawled back into bed to watch 13 reasons. The sun did come out after lunch but was a bit blustery but eventually hit 9. I did take time to do a kitchen clean up after a couple cups of hot chicken broth. Time for soak in a hot tub and change into clean pj's. Bonus of a "sick" day. I did need to trudge out in the now non windy gorgeous evening with clean Pj's and wet hair to pitch hay. It was nice to get fresh air but it did make the cough worse. Time to sooth it with a fudgesicle and finish the last 2 episodes in the Thirteen Reasons Why series, another benefit to my "sick" day. Prince did not get home till after 11 today but was soon rattling the spare room walls with his snoring serenade in short order.

first milk paint class

Big day today, my first milk paint class. Britt was home yet again crazy early for a Sunday just after 8 but of course went right to bed. I got final things done for the class and threw another coat of poly on the round coffee table I hauled out for milk paint demo and sprayed the vanity too.

As I was pitching hay at 11 rain started which quickly turned to SNOW!! It went from 6 to 3 in no time. Jess picked up her picture just after 12 as I was eating my soup. Britt made us a sandwich too and was back down in her room watching Netflix. The snow came and went off and on thru the day.

The ladies arrived just before 1 and the paint class was underway. Time passed quickly as they progressed. Chad from the Calgary polox club stopped to drop off a couple balls and a racket bag during the class but Britt did the exchange. Sarah left at 4 before I got a finished photo of hers but she sent one once home. Keri finished up at 4:30 and after her picture was on her way too.

Seeing I had my paint made up since last night and no time in the class to use it, I took the next hour to paint the first coat on the vanity. Now that the class was done the wheels seemed to fall off the illness bus. I had plans for chicken for supper but opted to throw in a pizza. The sun peeked out briefly but soon the snow returned so A hot bath and time to crawl in bed with Netflix. I started a new series recommended by Britt called Thirteen Reasons Why. Britt is staying the night again not heading back till morning.

april fools

NO April fools here today, just business as usual. I worked on accounting and such in the am but did get to the garage for a few things. It seems my muscles and strategic hammering in of a screwdriver had the 6 caster inserts out in fairly short order, of course not without a few more scraps and bangs to my hands ;) Britt was a sweety and went to pitch hay. My cold has moved to runny nose now, thanks again Prince for your generous share!

I put a coat of hemp on the outside of the roll top so I could demo dark wax on it tomorrow at the milk paint class. Britt and I then headed out in the 17!! sunshine with a torrential wind to ride. She even drug along the ginger crab! A little practice at the end and done.

Time to plant my peas and sweet peas I had soaking overnight. Trying to get a better jump on them this year.

A cleaning spell followed as bathroom and back entrance needs to be pretty for painters to use if needed which lead to the main floor getting a good cleaning. I hauled all the painted pieces downstairs and moved living room around again for a fresh look. Britt managed to vacuum out her car in between watching Netflix and getting ready to go out tonight.

all done

Homemade soup was on the menu, this one was much better then last night and helped the sore throat. Since Britt was all fancy she would not pitch hay so I trudged out to do it. She did wander out eventually and give me a hand, gee thanks B. Then she was off to a party after 8 as I swept the garage, spray shellac on a couple spots and haul out a few demo pieces. A soak in a hot tub with the last of some cherry ice cream and Switched at Birth was the rest of my evening.

It actually didn't end until after 2. Sheldon had text late of an land slide in Columbia that killed about 200 people. I contacted Shaina again (I had chatted with her via text this am) to confirm they were all safe. Sad for those who were not though ;(
