Bird moves to the mountains

I have been waking at 5:15 for the last week or so. Usually I can fall back asleep for a bit but not today. I got up and did computer work. Breakfast was toast with coffee today. Deb and Chuck packed up and headed to Oyen. I gave S a ride to get his skid steer back home. It seems he had one more task to do for Matt before coming home. This did not pan out well as he ran over a kids bike so had to get it and repair.

S mowed the lawn. I vacuumed and washed the dirty floor. I also tried Britt's little rug cleaner and scrubbed the lazy boy and area rug. Leftover lunch. I had a bit of a blood letting after wrestling Stella down to give her dewormer.

I planted more potato's Sharon had left over. It looks like all my zucchini is up and 1 potato from last w/e's planting. Lots more yardwork was done weeding, pruning and chopping off the dead poplar. S needed A/C after his bike repair but did get the quad unhooked from sprayer and back to poop trailer.

Sharon was out mid afternoon as I was working on watering the garden. B, Dave and Coop stopped to pick up Bird. She loaded all her food and such and they were off. Sharon worked with her horses then got a quad driving lesson. She volunteered to pick a couple loads of poop from the far paddock. THANK YOU! I made us a spinach salad for early supper then went and helped her a bit on the last load. We put horses away and she was off. S's inside time was internet then hockey game. We did fit in a hot tub. It has been awhile for me.

Tuesday was a catch up day. The bar stools finally got a coat of white stain oil put on. S pressure washed the BBQ after doing one for Shaina. I went to town to join Dad for lunch and a visit. I passed S and H just outside of town on their way in. He went looking at items at the online sale.

We ran back to town to meet Schmitt's at Origins for supper. S filled the car with petrol too for our Banff trip tomorrow. After a tasty supper, THANKS Schmitt's!! we drove over to watch Ada's softball game. We followed this up with an enjoyable evening on Paetz's deck.

Family reunion

my pretty quilt

We started with a lovely bacon & egg, toast watermelon breakfast with lots of coffee and visiting. I made a macaroni salad while we visited for tomorrow. Deb and I ran in to join Mom, Dad and Carol (another resident) on their walk after 11. We enjoyed sitting in the sun with them. Then we stopped to see Asher's ball game when they headed in for lunch.

The boys took the ranger and went gopher hunting

Back at the ranch, the fellows put together the jumbo deck box for cushion storage. They followed that up with putting the last 2 chairs together too. Now to arrange the deck bringing more chairs from the mez too.

Bean dip, queso blanco, chips and beer were enjoyed for a late lunch. The 4 of us played a new game  called Qwixx. I put on a cross rib bison roast with roasted veggies for supper. The Vegas hockey game of course was watched. Mom came out after 7 to join us for supper, visit and stay the night with us.

Sunday morning was homemade sausage, toast, scrambled eggs and more watermelon. After lots of coffee and catch up Mom headed in to see Dad. Deb and I ran to town to Walmart quick. The fellows went out shooting gophers.

Then we played more Qwixx, Dave joined us after he and B arrived. B of course did horse stuff. I gave H her cartrophen dose. Shaina arrived next followed soon after by Kaylin and Nathan. Mom and Travis brought Dad out. Dale, Stacie, Vance and Mya rounded out the family affair. It was a gorgeous day!! We even managed to get a group photo. However Dad was quite sleepy when we did but he was in it at least. It was disappointing the Paetz's were unable to join us. They were very much missed.

more of Deb's hand crafted gifts and baby showering

Shaina and Nathan joined in the game too

Stacie shared her inspiring childbirth pep talk :)

Britt and Dave gave Switch and Bird their vaccines, thanks! Shaina led Switch and Mya around and then let her ride in the round pen. What a good cousin! xoxo Everyone mingled and had lots of visiting, snacks, watermelon and beverages. The BBQ supper seemed to be a hit. It was followed up with homemade apple crisp and ice cream (Mom made from our apples). There were 7 dogs of all sizes. Most had a very good time too.

We got Dad loaded in the car and off to catch a late supper around 7. The Calgary crew was off next heading west. The Oyen group loaded up too and headed east. Britt and Dave left after he had dessert. This left Debby, Chuck, Sheldon and I to play games. After a couple Qwixx we learned a new one called Phase 10. This kept us busy till 11to finish. Another great day of family fun.

Two days riding & company arrives

The day started overcast and cool on Wednesday which was disappointing after the clear sunny Tuesday. S worked at Matt's for the morning while I worked on finishing up the vacation blog posts and tutorials. I have enough tutorials to cover for the next month. I also got my DNA results from Ancestry so plowed into that for awhile. It is interesting how they divide up the ethnicity compared to 23 & Me. And I have a higher percentage of Indigenous too.

When he finished up at "work" we loaded up Harley in car and headed to town. We whipped thru our errands including picking up a deck box and voting. The last stop at the lab was not speedy. Yesterday I left my place in line after half hour. Today I had to wait 45 minutes past my booked time. S waited in the car with H and had grabbed lunch at A&W. I popped out to eat while I waited. Once it was done we set off for home.

The sun was now out and the day warmed up 5 degrees hitting over 20 now. Sharon was back from her lessons. She and I went out for a ride. Her first one at our place. Seeing it was so nice we hit the deck for a cold beer. S joined us when he was back from Matt's again. It was the perfect day for deck relaxing. I cooked up a pot of mushroom soup for supper, Hot tub and hockey again were the nights events.

Thursday, After breakfast S went and sprayed the middle paddock we have closed off this year to try and rejuvenate. He also did areas in the yard and along the lane. Sharon was out and she and I went for another ride. This one was even more lovely then yesterdays. I also finally unboxed the huge paint package delivered few days back.

Friday was lawn mowing and company prep. We had a zoom meeting at one for just over hour and half. S ran to town to do a condo inspection and few other errands. I have been keeping my pots alive with water and rest of the yard. It was then off to get a lash fill. Debby and Chuck arrived around 5 not long after we were both back. We had a lovely evening of catching up. As usual there were lots of great gifts including this short. Sheldon was so stoked to get it! Deb made me a beautiful horse quilt! xoxo
