Last Renn official Thursday Care

Suddenly, the weather turned to autumn overnight, and it began to rain just after 8:30 while I was preparing to head into the city and Dave was feeding. S awoke, brewed some coffee, and enjoyed his porridge. He prepared a to-go cup of coffee for me, and by 9, I was on my way north to pick up Lexi's anti-itch medication on the way to the city. The rain stopped close to Kaylin's.

Despite a few traffic hold-ups and the medication stop, I arrived only slightly late at 10:03. Kaylin dashed off to work, and Renn and I began our playtime. She's always a delight, whether she's being serious or humorous, and her love for coffee is evident as she continually signs and says "please." Fortunately, my travel mug requires a button press to dispense. Following a hearty snack of berries and cheese, she had her pants changed, was tucked into her sleep sack, and settled down perfectly for her 12:30 nap.

Nathan came up from his office for a quick lunch, then went to shower and nap. This altered my plans to fix the sticky window edge, having brought new tools for the task, so I spent the time doing some online research, brain games and sharing the enamel top table tutorial of G & G Stolz's while HGTV played in the background. Renn was enjoying a deep sleep, and after more than two and a half hours, Kaylin asked me to wake her. She snuggled up on my lap quietly, watching sing-along shows as she gradually woke. In a bit, she was keen to work on the iPad keypad, signing and saying "please" each time I closed it. Today marks my final official Thursday with Renn before she starts daycare next week. It’s a bittersweet moment for all of us. XOXO But I will be back tomorrow for a Friday care day!

Kaylin returned home after 4 p.m., and we spent some time together while Renn enjoyed a drink. Once Nathan was back downstairs and on duty, Kaylin was leaving soon for a 5 p.m. massage to soothe her sore plantar fasciitis feet. I headed home before 5. The traffic was smooth until I was nearly out of the city, where it slowed to a crawl for 25 minutes. Despite that, I arrived home around 6. S had picked up a rotisserie chicken for dinner after hockey and was already slicing it. Fortunately, we had leftover cabbage, potatoes, and fresh tomatoes to accompany it. It was ideal to have a meal ready without needing to cook.

This morning, S attempted to install the bedroom fan delivered last night but encountered issues so put on hold. My problem-solving skills kicked in, and soon he was back to completing the installation. We had a slight 0.04 inches of rain today; not much, but it counts. Britt got home from Denver today and was out late afternoon to check in on her horses and feed them all for the day. She was going to watch Renn tomorrow but is currently sick hence why I will head back in. I went to garage to wipe the oil with a dry cloth, buffed it, then wiped it again with an oiled cloth. The top received another coat of stain oil.

I then came in and finished yesterday's blog post and started on today's while S browsed the internet and watched sports. A quick scuffle erupted on the deck, prompting S to go out, and indeed, our friend Tony had returned. Sheldon swiftly caught him, placed him in the kennel, and shortly after, Mark came over to retrieve him. Oh, Tony. :) We had a relaxing hot tub - my back was feeling better this afternoon followed by a yogurt bowl in bed while watching more Luxe Listings - Sydney. I would love to live in Sydney I think.

Milk painting and oiling day

H wanted out at 6:30 again, and with a few get-ups earlier in the night to close windows after the wind picked up, it was another early start to the day. After the usual morning routine, I let the three horses out, leaving Roo in the middle paddock since she didn’t want to be caught. Dave did his feeding, leaving Cooper here, borrowed a saw and blade to cut aluminum, and headed off to refit his horse trailer in hopes of accommodating a few more horses on his long trips to Edmonton.

S quickly poop bladed the two closest paddocks and then graded the road. I did my marketing quickly and then got to work on the custom accent table, giving it a coat of milk paint. It’s been a while since I used milk paint, and I love how fast it goes on and dries. While the first coat dried, it was lunchtime.

S came in for egg sandwiches and a rest, and did some more research on skid steer issues. I went back out to sand the now-dry paint and applied another coat of milk paint after eating my sandwich. After his rest, S went out to finish the road and push the chips into a pile at the pit. Seeing it was a sunny 29°C day, I threw some laundry in. It was warm but windy, making it unpleasant to be outside. I made a few trips to the travel trailer to start cleaning out food, the bathroom cabinet, and clothes. We had planned to camp with the Stouts this weekend, but the weather is expected to turn cool and possibly rainy, so we canceled. The planters were watered out front, and the soaker hose turned on in the raised bed.

S was back in to browse online for a bit, then went off to remove a rear truck tire to change the brakes. I sanded the table and the top ready to seal it all up. S came in for a refreshment after deciding not to change the rear brake pads. I joined him for a cold drink and wrote today’s blog at the island. Supper was next—S BBQ’d burgers and toasted the yummy buns we were gifted, with fresh tomatoes. Tonight, I spiralized potatoes and fried them, along with fresh zucchini and sautéed onions. The last of the cabbage was cooked but not done in time for supper, so it will be enjoyed tomorrow.

check out the roots on the Egyptian walking onions compared to the regular, one needs a shovel to dig them out :)

I headed back out to apply hemp oil to the table after trimming Har’s nails. The top was also dark stained. I left the vacuum out, and S ran it around the main floor to capture dog hair and such. Dave was out early, picking up parcels delivered to our gate—thanks!

I ordered this raw Baltic amber teething necklace for Renn. Amanda felt they really helped all 4 of her kids teething. Hope it helps little miss.

speaking of little miss, this is her bath lighting party tonight

He fed the animals and even had time to chat with us while I cut off most of the tomatoes passing to S to put in box as the table oil absorbed in the near dark. He and Cooper set off for home before 8 today. S went back to his ball game, and I wiped off the excess oil and lightly distressed the edges. I then made yogurt bowls and we started a movie in bed but S was soon asleep so I watched more house selling shows in Sydney.

Kaylin sent me these cute memories showing Archie wearing his amber teething necklace

And Amanda sent this one of Archie reading a birthday card I had given him XOXO

Renn bonus day

Harley wanted out yesterday at 6:30 AM and again today at 5 AM, likely due to the frozen bison treats I gave her. It appears another beautiful day awaits us. The three horses remained in the far winter pasture, and Roo stayed in the middle diet pen overnight, so there was no need to fit her mask today. Both Har and S were fed before we departed for the city at 10. Dave and Cooper arrived just as we were leaving.

We were a bit early for my 11:15 appointment, so we stopped for an iced coffee and a pumpkin spice muffin in Langdon. S took a nap in the car while I awaited my appointment. Unfortunately, being early didn't expedite the process, and I wasn't seen until almost noon, but the appointment was brief once the doctor arrived.

We had arranged to watch Renn to give K some time for housework, but it was Renn's nap time, so we proceeded to Costco instead. After shopping, we drove northwest and reached Renn's place by 2 PM. After a small fashion show with the clothes I brought, we headed to the park. We returned briefly for water we'd forgotten, then went out to the space between the condos. The laundry vent seemed clogged, so handyman S cleared it with a broom and ice chipper. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the neighboring complex's green space and park, enjoying the busy bee activities in the 26-degree weather.

I picked her up some super cute new sleepers at Costco

So cute!!

Back at the condo, we enjoyed some sing-along songs while S took a nap. Kaylin was having trouble with the adhesive around their master bedroom window frame from the Velcro on the A/C. I assisted by scraping it off with an Olfa blade and the orange oil I brought. I managed to remove about half of it but will bring a heat gun and some tools on Thursday to finish the job. By 5 pm, S and I decided to head east while they began preparing supper.

Feeling thirsty, we stopped at Tim's where I grabbed another iced coffee for S and decided to try the wild berry hibiscus lemonade, which I thoroughly enjoyed on the drive home. We arrived back at the ranch around 6:30, took care of feeding Harley and the cats, unpacked the groceries, and had leftovers for supper. After 7:30, while walking Harley down the lane, Dave and Cooper came for the night feeding. Bird was slow to eat again, and they didn't leave until around 9. I had been working on yesterday's post but switched to the comfortable bed to write today's entry. S, who had been browsing in the big brown chair, joined me to continue his reading. We then watched a move called Upgrade.

Front brakes changed

As we were enjoying coffee in bed, I remembered the little green antique table needed to be at the gate by 9. Checking the email, I saw she was running late, which gave us time to get dressed. I cut all my parsley and loaded it with the boxes, packing paper, jars, and the sold crate all for Anita into the ranger S brought it over along with the table and took it to the gate.

It promised to be a gorgeous day. I went out to release the horses just as Dave arrived. He assisted me in catching Roo, putting on her mask, and then we let them out. He fed his horses and started his day, leaving Cooper with us. S returned to install the left brake pad while I focused on marketing. I spent time with our ISP and cancelled 2 old email addresses permanently - kuhnklan@efirehose.net and crazy1@efirehose.net. They will no longer work so delete if you have them stored.

Now don't these look safe? :)

Once the brakes were installed, S took a test drive to fetch the mail. He then topped up the hot tub, shocked it, and cleaned the filters. I harvested some carrots, beets, onions, and potatoes to accompany our last bison steaks for dinner. They were scrubbed clean, the beet leaves were chopped, all while catching up on the noon news and having some lunch. I looked out to see horses in middle paddock and lo and behold Roo had no mask on!

S left for hockey before 1 PM, and I treated the dogs to a frozen snack outdoors before tackling some accounting work. With the sunny weather, it was perfect for doing laundry, so I began a few loads. Anita stopped by to collect her items and generously left us some fresh sourdough buns. I took the opportunity to walk the dogs to the gate and around the pastures. Roo was quarantined in the middle paddock while the others were let out. The temperature was 22 degrees but felt more like 27, so I spent time weeding and harvesting potatoes, enjoying the sunshine.

Once back indoors, I focused on tutorials and faced challenges with uploading photos for yesterday's blog post, but eventually, everything was set and ready. My back is giving me trouble, tightening more as the day progressed. S returned from hockey and his after coffee klatch around 4:30. He folded his laundry while I prepared vegetables for dinner. I pulled out some of the girls clothes around 12 months to take to the city. This coveralls I have to get a photo of Renn in them at least once. We savored another splendid meal featuring harvest veggies and the last pack of bison T-bones.

See this and many more of the clothes I took in for Renn to try HERE!

Anita sent this photo of the crate all decked out

After dinner, I settled in with my computer and S with his laptop, before we unwound in the hot tub. It really helped my back. After showering, I finished watching the entire 'McLeod's Daughters' series, which spans eight seasons with an average of 32 episodes each. I viewed it on my iPad, while S browsed for sports updates and marketplace deals on his laptop with Cooper between us. We noticed a light from a phone in the paddocks; Dave was out feeding. Bird's leisurely eating pace had him jokingly remark that he nearly watched an entire ball game on his phone in the dark while waiting for her to finish. Afterwards, he and Cooper went home before 10.
