It was just after midnight when Renn woke and came to bed with me. She stirred again around 5, either restless or perhaps being kept awake by "the neighbour" snoring like a bear, but a few bum taps had her back to sleep. At 7 she was restless again but managed to drift back off. Then at 8:30 came a sleepy little, “Ice cream! ... do you want apple juice?” before she went back to sleep until just before 9:30!
I had been awake before 9 but was quite happy to lie there and relax, not wanting to wake the sleeping child. Once she was finally awake, we had a quiet stretch and snuggle before she made the declaration, “It is a beautiful day!” That was our cue to get up, come out and make “coffee” while trying to FaceTime Mama for her 35th birthday.
Grandpa slept even longer than we did but eventually came out to make a coffee while we were FaceTiming. Once our birthday call was over, Renn had a bowl of Cheerios and it was full-on play yet again.
I headed outside in my fluffy blue housecoat to let the two chubbies out and fill the water trough, which was getting pretty low. By the time I had Renn’s lunch together, she was happily eating with Grandpa supervising while he had his soup, giving me a chance to get my workout in. However Renn came in and joined me for the last 5 minutes copying the instructors moves well.
I hooked up the car seat in my car and soon Renn and I were headed into the Paetz house for a playdate and bang trim. AJ and I got some visiting in while the kids had a blast, and somewhere along the way Renn also learned the Macarena! Of course, that quickly became the entertainment of the afternoon.
S was working on installing the new seals on one of the garage doors, but by 6 he still couldn’t get them to fit and it was looking like maybe the wrong parts had been purchased. I worked on supper, getting potatoes and beets from the garden ready to roast while S cooked up the uber-small bison T-bone steaks on the BBQ.
Bath time was a big hit, especially the mounds of volcano bubbles that doubled as face cream and beards. Tonight was supposed to be an earlier bedtime, but by the time the bath was done, PJs were on, hair was brushed and the usual ice cream with supplements had disappeared, Renn and I were finally in bed reading after 8.
B made it out late and missed bedtime, but Renn plans to see Auntie B tomorrow and ride Hank. There were plenty of stories, songs and chatter from one very busy little miss, and eventually she finally tucked herself out around 9. So much for the earlier bedtime! :)
S spent his evening in the usual laptop-and-sports room, but was up and off to dreamland by the time I finished my library book. Another full day with my little sidekick, and I think we were both ready for sleep.

Trav ordered seals for our garage doors. They too, turned out not to fit. He made them fit the glass door garage rather than losing the purchase. Called Hryciw and he ordered the right ones. Hs not come back to install for six months. Says we have to jackhammer the concrete to raise to make level, then apply the seals. I reminded him a week ago. Nothing.
